Hi there

I'm an amateur photographer. I love taking photos, even if I'm not a professional. In particular, I like to carry my camera when travelling (not only, though).

After having used a D330 for years, I moved to the FF world with a D750. I must say that I do like it. The quality of the pictures is amazing, and also the ergonomic design is great. However, I also have to admit that often I don't bring it with me because of its weight and size, the last expecially. For me it's quite hard, but I'm considering selling it to buy an APS-C mirrorless camera. The sensor might not be the same, but I would probably use it a lot more, and may be this is what matter the most.

Here are my questions.

Do you think that the quality difference is noticeable for non-professional purposes?

Which cameras and lenses would you suggest me?

I'd like to stay with Nikon for emotional reasons, so I was thinking of the Z50II, but I'm open to change brand if needed.

Currently, my fav lens is the classic 50mm/1.8G (on FF sensor), and I prefer prime lenses to zooms, but of course some zooms may be useful when travelling.

Thank you all!

NO

The camera I suggest you is Fuji X-t5. The lens according your preferences . There are the f2 lenses like 23mm 35 mm and 56 f1.2 mm very good

You don't really need to step back to APS-C... many Full Frame Mirrorless cameras are (much) lighter than DSLR... and you won't regret the larger sensor when shooting in low light.

Consider a z5 with an adapter.
You will be able to proceed later to switch lenses from reflex mount to ML mount.

Indeed... a Z5 (or Z6, Z6II etc.) with the FTZ adapter will allow you to use any AF-S lens...

I totally agree. I did the same (with Fuji).

Good idea.

I prefer prime lenses to zooms, but of course some zooms may be useful when travelling.

With Nikon D3100 and D7200 I loved the Nikon 18-140, good image quality and very convenient for travel photography. The Z version of 18-140 is great and lightweight (I regret that Fuji doesn't have a similar lens).
The Nikon Z 40 f/2 could be a useful complement to the zoom lens.

I think the problem is not the body weight, but weight and size of the system itself. If I'm right, you have to switch to a completly different system: Fuji, Om (or similar 4/3) or something similar to Ricoh GR.

Che cosa ne pensi di questo argomento?
