Hello everyone!

Id really appreciate your advice on a camera, as im quite confused on what to do! Up until now i have been using a Canon 40d. Unfortunately my camera has a problem with the shutter and will cost around 300 euros to fix. So Im thinking of buying a new camera. I do mostly sport, wildlife (birds), landscape and some portraits photography. Do you think the canon 7d is still a good buy? Or should i wait for a replacement (however being without a camera is "killing me") .

Thank you in advance

The Canon 7D its an amazing camera, and with the new firmware... Superb. But I would suggest to wait until Canon announces the Canon 7D MKII according to Canon Rumors it should be on late 2013 or early 2014.

Hmmmm, that is a tricky situation you are in. Of course the 7D is not the youngest model on the market but who knows when and what Canon will introduce body wise... There will always be the next generation just around the corner...

I use the 7D for birds, landscapes and the odd family picture. There is nothing I miss, this camera does everything I want it to do. It is robust, reliable and takes amazing images. I extensively travelled with it and if it would break down tomorrow, I would replace it with another 7D (or repair it).

At least here down under it is now much more affordable than before - I'd say: go for it. Enjoy it and should the MkII really come out - just upgrade to it in a couple of years.

By the way, what lenses to you have?
