Hello Juza, hello every one using the Forum,

Have you noticed that almost every conversation on this excellent Forum is in Italian? I really think that's a pity because all the people who can't read or write Italian can't learn from the work shown here and the comments given to that work.

Is is deliberately that this forum is in Italian Juza? I thought you intended it to be in English.

Kind regards, Harm.

Since the Italian and English sites have been intergrated the site has sadly become a waste of time. The forum has died, most of the people we used to share great discussion with havent bothered to re-register. The Italians dont bother commenting on or "liking" Non Italian photos and if they don't want us, there are plenty more and friendlier sites out there.

I had to use Google translate just to work out what area of the forum to upload my photos to. Disappointing.

Come on yourself, the Italians only comment on images submitted by Italians. Although, it's nice to finally chat to an Italian on Juza (apart from Juza) Cool;-)

I really do feel like there are two seperate communities on this site.

Stubones, you don't need to stay here if you don't like it.

The user interface is 100% in English language; there were some bugs at the beginning but now I have fixed it.

Currently there are about 800 "English language" members and more than 13000 Italian members, so of course it is much easier to see photos from the Italian side, but with time I hope that this ratio will get closer to 50/50.

By the way, if you want to see almost exclusively photos from "English" members, you can use the ARENA: www.juzaphoto.com/arena.php?l=en

Hi Juza,

The point is not where our photographers originate from. The point is: do you want the conversations on this forum to be in English? Right now it's not easy for people that don't speak Italian to learn from the comments made on photo's because most of them are in Italian.

In the instructions for use of the Forum I read that users are supposed to write in English, so I thought that was your intention: to have an international Forum.

Kind regards, Harm.

For me the twin language forum thing is not working, we had a happy group of English speakers on the old forum which was good, but now it is all too much so I no longer post shots because most of the comments are "excellento". No real critique, since maybe most of the english members joined, looked and left.

I like Juza's reviews and such but the forum is about dead for me. I appreciate all Juza has done for the years I have been a member though.

I agree 100% with Juza. It is a matter of chance (matematically speaking, 16:1 ratio) that I, for instance, look much more at photos from Italians.
What I meant is that there is no "discriminatory intention" in choosing photos "by Italians" rather than not. But I agree with you, we could do a bit more to help "guests speakers".

My previous shots had comments from both, I am not complaining about that but due to language they are not constructive comments, so only good for an ego boost. I am not here for my ego boosting. MrGreen

Isn't it bitter irony that in Juza's "old" English forum lots of people complained about Juza not switching the English forum to the new improved version like the Italian forum - and then when Juza finally made this huge step forward happening, very very few of those people registered for the new forum?

And now, we discuss if the unification with our Italian colleagues is good or bad... I for one welcome our new friends: The Italians do play better soccer than the Germans (and the New Zealanders anyway) and they take beautiful images of this world.

Nevertheless, the old English Forum is dead. Now it is time to build a new thriving community with the tools Juza provides. I must say, this forum is now much more focussed on images and I do like that. On the other hand, it is always a problem if comments aren't providing critique (e.g. just saying "great shot" and not why it is great). Let's change that. Let's tell each other why we like an image. Or why we don't like it .

Maybe we can create an English community that is interesting enough for our Italian friends to join in in our discussions. There is no way to force interest...

I agree completely with Ziphius' comments. We do need to improve our critiques, but that is something we (not Juza) can change.

(And the Italians do play great soccer. As an American who is used to our brand of football, I just wish I understood soccer rules better!)

Thing is, I (I am sure others too) were expecting a new separate English forum (based on the new software) like we had already, not an integrated one based on 2 languages. All other forums I visit are international but 99% of everything that goes on there is in English. Now I am not saying the Italians should all learn English, not the Englsih italian, but mixing the two together dilutes the community. The old English forum had a good community, as did the Italian (still does). But now those English users feel like they are in deep water and will not come back. I am an open minded type, I live in Germany and know the problems of language and culture, but the forum feels wrong for me now.

PS - I never liked soccer, nor rugby either and cricket is an insomniacs dream! :p

Congratulations Juza, you read my mind like a pro. Have you not noticed how few of the old forum members have signed up? They must have gone off to a proper forum, like say.. The old Juza forum that actually had a community. Please feel free to delete my account, I have already deleted my images. Dont bother replying because I wont read it anyway, I'll be on POTN or Fredmiranda.

Ok, goodbye stubones.

You may like it or not, but rudeness is not justified - JuzaPhoto is a free service, you are not forced to use it if you don't like it.

FOR EVERYONE ELSE: I have added the option to filter out images from Italian members; if you prefer to see a 100% English language forum (but you will see less photos), you can use this option:

www.juzaphoto.com/index2.php?l=en&pg=profile&mode=myprofile

Set "Language Preference" on Show only English language photos

What do you think about this topic?

Do you want to tell your opinion? You can join the discussion by joining JuzaPhoto, it is easy and free!
