Hi Everybody,
I'm very interesting into night shots, especially the Milky-way shots. After I was learning all the settings to do that, and having some experiences shooting it, I'm not yet satisfy with my results because the shots are not looking as I want them to be. Also I would like to know if I will need some special software to edit the shot after all. Does anybody could give some advises with that. Thank you, Daniel.

Hello Daniel,

I dont think you need any fancy software. I use photoshop for all my editing. Im by no means a night photography guru, but here are a couple of shots from me:

Australia, 24mm 1.4 lens. Iso 4000

Italy, 12mm 2.8 Fisheye, iso 3200

Try to use a fast lens, make sure you are focused correctly at infinity. Use sensitivity between 2500-4000. For the shutter use the '500' rule - shutter speed = 500/focal length. Eg: 500/24mm = 20sec. You use this rule to prevent dragging and blurring the stars.

Apply noise reduction is post, and add some saturation. Colour temperature is also important, so play around with it!

This works for me, hope it helps you!
