Pros: Sharpness, bokeh, stabilization.

Cons: Relatively big

Opinion: An excellent all-rounder, both optically and mechanically. Image quality is outstanding, with even sharpness and good bokeh. A good night performer too: no flare, moderate coma. Stabilization works well, down to 1/8s handheld, or 1/4s with a bit of luck (hold firmly, take several shots and keep the best one). Close-focus is very useful. Moderate distortion.AF is slow but very precise. Cherry on the cake, manual focus is decent (unlike many other AF lenses).

Pros: Sharpness, color fidelity, weight

Cons: Poorly engraved images

Opinion: Purchased used as an optics for use in full-length portraiture, I was pleasantly surprised by the sharpness of this lens, which was not overly expensive. The colors of the images are faithfully reproduced. In my opinion, it lacks incisiveness in the details, in short, it is not really a blade, but the sharpness overall is more than good in relation to the price paid. Let's say that on the very first floors I choose something else. Well done construction, slow autofocus but once engaged, it doesn't make mistakes anymore, unlike the other brand that once you take home the photos, you spend time figuring out why they are out of focus. This is one of the reasons why I chose Tamron. If I really have to find a fault, sometimes small chromatic aberration in strong contrasts, but little stuff. I would say that I would recommend the purchase. Stabilizer in the normal range. Last thing, very light lens.

Pros: Sharpness , minimum focusing distance , af , is not a 50

Cons: chromatic aberrations

Opinion: I must say that I love this lens. Excellent construction, tropicalized, stabilized, the focal length of 45 mm gives you that minimum width more than the 50 that returns an angle that seems more natural. The sharpness is embarrassing, in portraits even too much. Unfortunately, the chromatic aberrations in backlight and in the presence of strong contrasts (purple fringe) make you turn up your nose on a lens of this level. I bought it a few years ago coupled with the 6DII and today I also use it on the R6 and I must say that it continues to give me great satisfaction. For what is the price in the world of used, if you find it do not let it escape.

Pros: Yield, stabilization

Cons: price

Opinion: Used from mid-2018 to the end of 2022, it improves the performance across the spectrum of the 50mm f/1.8 G although not by much. The great addition is the stabilization, always effective (also adapted to Z mount) which contrasts with negative sides such as the size (and weight) almost doubled, the cost tripled and a focal length reduction of 5mm that does not affect too much on Bokeh and final result. Performance side is the Nikon 50mm but better, in everything: bokeh, sharpness and microcontrast. If stabilization comes in handy (D800/810/850), for me the price increase to have stabilization justifies the purchase, otherwise there are no stories and it is worth taking the Nikon version. Buying it in 2023 to adapt it to Z mount instead does not really make sense because at the same price you buy the 50mm f / 1.8 S that outclasses both lenses on any aspect.

Pros: Construction, Price, Stabilization, Brightness

Cons: Autofocus too Uncertain

Opinion: Nothing to say about many aspects of this lens (Solidity, construction, Price, Stabilization, Brightness). I sold the 50mm Canon F1.4 because I was wrong a lot of focus. But I don't know how much the situation has really improved. If I buy a super bright fixed lens it is because with low light I want to make it take the field and see that it solves my problems. Here, on the other hand, with low light often the AF is useless because it focuses even for 2 seconds before hooking the subject (so seizing the moment often becomes a utopia). This goes to affect a bit all the positive aspects that the lens would have (hold down the shutter button, but seeing that the SLR (Canon 5D4) does not shoot because it is laboriously trying to focus, makes me very angry). I even say that AF seems uncertain and not very reactive even during the day in the sun, which for me is inconceivable. I don't want to totally reject it because I want to use it more often (even if I have owned it for 2 years) and maybe try to start a better feeling.
