Pros: Excellent sharpness, beautiful colors, bokeh, fast and reliable autofocus, very effective stabilizer, pro level construction

Cons: Weight, dimensions (on the EOS R it is really large, also taking into account the adapter ring), a bit of TA vignetting

Opinion: I bought the Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD G2, used, to replace two lenses in my possession: the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM II and the Sigma 105mm 2.8 EX DG Macro OS HSM. I use the Tamron on Canon EOS R, obviously with adapter ring. Due to the price out of my reach for the original Canon 70-200 RF, both the f/2.8 and the f/4, I opted for this lens of which I read great reviews. In the past I had tried the previous version that had pleasantly impressed me for the optical quality, a little less for the focus, not as fast and reliable as that of the Canon. Returning to the G2, The first impressions coincide with those of the reviews I have read here. First of all, the optical quality is really excellent, even at full aperture, certainly comparable to that of my (former) Sigma 105 macro at the same focal length. The autofocus is also OK, so far I have not encountered any uncertainties with the EOS R, even in low light conditions. It will be slightly less fast than the corresponding Canon but for the use that I make of it (portraits, landscapes, not sports photography) enough and advances ... The stabilizer is very effective, let's say that up to 1/30 - 1/40 s I had no problems with moving, surely the 4 f / stop declared are all there. So, let's talk about the slightly less positive things. The biggest problem is weight. 1 kg and a half plus a hectogram of adapter make 1.6 kg: you can certainly not think of wearing it hanging around your neck, if not for a short time. After a few freehand shots, although you can keep it firm thanks to the excellent stabilization, the left arm begins to sore and you have to let it rest. I recommend, when possible, to use a monopod, not so much to stabilize the lens (by the way, in what position should you hold the VC in this case?), but not to burden the arms. Let's move on: the EOS R, while recognizing the lens when mounted, has no data to be able to activate the corrections of chromatic aberration, distortion, vignetting etc. Fortunately for chromatic aberration this Tamron has none, the distortion is present but not a problem, while the vignetting is visible at the widest openings. The only way to correct it is to act via software. I use PT Lens that also corrects the distortion automatically but through the profile of the previous Tamron 70-200, with slight discrepancies. Overall I am extremely satisfied with this Tamron lens purchase, which I preferred to the rival Sigma Sport because of the 3 hectograms less weight and the lower cost. I highly recommend it, but don't use it for casual trips: too heavy and cumbersome!

Pros: Large lens

Cons: Perhaps the weight, over time, the arms suffer.

Opinion: Great lens, it has nothing to envy to others. Along with the "hawthorn" it is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best canvases on the market for DSLR. Over time the weight makes itself felt purtoppo, but works great in any condition, both in the studio and outdoors. Great compromise compared to canon. I reluctantly separated myself from it by switching to the R system. Excellent color and detail rendering, superlative AF. Tamron has surpassed herself in the production of this series. If you want a perfect pairing with 5D mk4 and 1DX, this lens is to be considered.

Pros: Colors, bokeh, sharpness already at TA all over the frame, stratospheric VC, autofocus, console compatibility, performance with extenders

Cons: Lamp of lamp, barrel paint, key arrangement

Opinion: In the days when I was a photographer by profession, the only 70-200 noteworthy were those of the mother houses. I worked a lot with the 2.8 IS II, the famous canon white, but I also knew my counterpart Nikon well (by the way, now I made myself a Nikon kit.. ). Stratospheric lenses that until recently are unattainable by third-party manufacturers. Well, yes, those days are over. This Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2, which I have owned twice, is a dream come true. Let's start with the build quality: tropicalized body, metal, relatively light, fluid and precise dials (although, to be honest, those of the Nikon/Canon are even more fluid), removable magnesium alloy collar and compatible swiss ark. The only negative points relate only to the construction aspects and in particular: the horrendous lamp (of which everyone rightly complains), the painting of the barrel (too sensitive to scratches) and the position of the selection keys as well as their protrusion (at the moment when the lens is in the "pendant" position on the shoulder strap, on contact with the photographer's body the position of the keys tends to change inadvertently). Apart from that, the lens excels in all other parameters: lightning and silent autofocus equipped with limiter whose minimum distance is by default 3m but can be modified with the console; Excellent VC with 3 positions: normal, panning and stabilization only at the time of shooting: the third mode allows you to reach up to 5 stops, but in the viewfinder the image will not be stabilized. In terms of sharpness it is a blade already at F2.8, even at the edges, but for those who want the maximum just close by a stop and up to F11 the quality is superb. The vignette is present only towards the focal points pushed to 2.8, but closing a stop the problem is solved. The rendering of the colors is wonderful and the aberrations almost non-existent. Also great is the bokeh, even closing (it has a 9-bladed circular diaphragm; interesting note: it's also electromagnetic on Nikon, so the limitations for "E" type lenses apply). Despite the focal and complex optical design, very good resistance to the flare. Duplicated with the Tamron TC-X20 extender it performs very well (fast autofocus, minimal sharpness loss and visible only to TA-driven focals), much but much better than the excellent 150-600 G2 which should only be used with the 1.4X. I absolutely recommend the TAP-IN console, in addition to being able to update the firmware (the Nikon Z ML requires version 2.0) you can calibrate it precisely and unfortunately this intervention is necessary for DSLRs. If you use it with the duplicator, it is possible (and even dutiful) to calibrate it ad hoc. In conclusion, a Mr. 70-200 who honors Tamron. Vote 10.

Pros: Sharpness, focus, blurred, value for money, weight

Cons: Lens hood

Opinion: I say I don't have all this photographic experience and I bought the lens a year and a half ago. I was looking for a lens for sports photography and spent weeks sifting through forums, tests and video reviews in an attempt to shed light on possible lenses to buy. There were some possibilities around the budget defined at the start including the Tamron 70-200 2.8 G2. From a forum user I was strongly advised this lens and, after evaluating possible alternatives, I chose to buy it. The lens is definitely a great choice in value for money. The sharpness of my specimen is really amazing, like the focus. The stabilizer exceeds the stated expectations although for the type of photographs I do I use little. If a defect is found is the lampshade, a little light given the overall quality of the lens, but I think this is a defect means as what matters is the churned out result. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and would go back 10 more times.

Pros: A blade already at 2.8, Speed, Compactness and Price.

Cons: Maybe none. but calling yourself Tamron is a big challenge.

Opinion: Bought this Christmas, after having first the Nikon 70-200 Vr I, without infamy and without praise, and then, for a few years, the Tamron Vc version... that made me feel like Tamron had grown up in these years. I then took the ver. G2... a more compact hair, a gorgeous Bokeh, but above all sharp. Sharp.... by the way does not suffer from F/B . F/F . etc. etc. ... and it is an exceptional optics, like the previous one, but this one more, improved in stabilization and in the AF. I really recommend it for those who want to make a leap of quality without fainting and get cmq a disarming quality.

Pros: 10 years warranty, sharpness to a closed stop, autofocus, very effective stabilization, good shots at times unthinkable!

Cons: You need to do the fine focus, minimalist housing...,

Opinion: I purchased this Tamron zoom, knowing from past experience, the model 70-300 F4 5.6, my First Battle horse (Naturlistica). Well I have to say another universe (I also had the 70_200 F2,8 Nikon vrii) focusing fast and accurate even in the underbrush in low light. I had to make the calibration fine A-12 (suffered from front focus), because I did not understand what it was but it was "little sharp", reading here and there I convinced myself and I was right, now when focusing is really fantastic, even at low diaphragm values , other its great value, you do not need as most of the optics set F/8 to have the maximum resolution, just an F/4 for nitrates and high resolutions!! It is heavy yes, very similar to the Nikon, let's say that I still did not feel the lack of VR2 (70-200 2.8). I would recommend it, absolutely as quality/price, also seen the unattainable (Costa the Doppi0 FL Parigradonikon...).

Pros: Performance, yield, stabilization, price

Cons: Lens hood, Af calibration

Opinion: I review this wonderful goal, I use it on d800 and I find it very fast, the weight is normal, as well as the footprint. Excellent yield, it returns very sharp files with a really nice fuzzy. I bought the new lens with a 10 year warranty at a great price with which I would aspire to a used Nikon, probably the old vr1. The lens hood as already pointed out in other reviews is distressful. I had to wait to have from my dealer the tap-in console carry out in the room The calibration end AF A-10, but it is well known that the objectives of 3parti have this defect. Made the calibration no problem indeed, a spectacle of glass!

Pros: General Performance, stabilization, value for money

Cons: Scratch-sensitive plastic, light lens hood, need for upgrade to be able to work on Nikon Z via FTZ.

Opinion: I use It for some time on the Nikon D800, now on Z6, I am very pleased with the choice, in the absence of an even Sigma features it was the only modern alternative to the Nikon FL which costs, however, more than double. Weight in the norm for this type of lenses, stabilization OK, yield and general optical performance more than good. To know that all Tamron G2 require a firmware update via TAP USB to be able to work with the new Nikon Z, once updated my works quietly via FTZ.

Pros: Sharpness, stabilizer for me mind-blowing, chromatic rendition

Cons: No one for now.

Opinion: It is a few months that I bought this lens, and the price has made me shaky on the choice for a long time, especially because I'm a novice amateur. But now that I bought it, I'm very satisfied. I had already ome optics that gave me great satisfaction, but this 70-200 is really beautiful, at least for me and the uses I do. Af is pretty fast and accurate, my specimen maybe suffers a capellino of FB focus, but almost imperceptible. The stabilizer, for now tried only on position 1 (it has 3 of which one for panning), is spatial, and speaks to you one that already with the fixed 50 of the Canon (jar of 10 cm) shakes like a leaf in the wind. Sharpness and Blur really very very beautiful, as well as color rendition. To want to do just the fussy, but fussy, the only thing that for now I do not love is the lens hood that is obviously very cumbersome but what I do not appreciate is the plastic with which it was made, from the impression of being rather fragile. I recommend it big.

Pros: Price, general chromatic yield, sharpness, stabilizer

Cons: Nobody at the time

Opinion: It is now six months that I use this lens, purchased after a long period of reflection and benchmark. I was looking for a bright tele with which to retire the old EF-S 18-200: I had already ruled out the white Canon 2.8 for price issues and this one fell to bean. Clearly, accustomed to the old Canon handyman, I found myself in another world: the chromatic rendition, brightness and sharpness are extraordinary, even on an old APSC like my 70D. The AF is accurate and fast and the stabilizer is really effective. At the ergonomic level I found no flaws, the ring nuts are fluid and precise. The weight feels everything, especially if you bring it for long periods but we are talking about a "pro" optic. For me it is a good compromise between cost and quality provided.

Pros: Construction, sharpness, speed of the AF, stabilizer

Cons: Hood

Opinion: Really fantastic optics, solid construction, very fast. Incredible stabilizer ... shooting at 1/10 of a second at 200mm as if nothing was.rnrnUnico defect (if I have to highlight one) the hood that seems a bit 'fragile ... in stark contrast to the solidity of the lens .. .but this does not matter when you have a great price-quality ratio for your hands!

Pros: Stabilization, AF, anti-glare, sharpness, 10 year warranty

Cons: Lightweight lens hood. Very easy to disable the focus by mistake.

Opinion: Very fast focus, very little distortion. The stabilizer is amazing, it acts quickly and allows you to use it at unthinkable times and to contain the ISO. In the box, unlike what happened to others, I found a soft bag and a hexagon to screw two latches on the tripod mount; The collar is ARCA SWISS compatible. No type of problem with fire accuracy so no front or back focus (but does it really exist in the real world? Never seen in any of my lenses). The sharpness seems to me excellent for my needs; I do not know the various Nikkor 70-200, but with the money saved I see clearly an incoming vacation. Aesthetically beautiful but cares. Very criticizable the hood, of course plastic, but very light: I hope it does not break. EDIT: I update the review after several months of use to add that I often inadvertently disabilities the autofocus or the stabilizer because the buttons on the barrel are right at your fingertips. Very useful thing but to be very careful. Before I knew it I often barreled the focus

Pros: Opening, MAF, Defocused, Sharpness, Stabilization, Tropicalization, Colors

Cons: Weak metal body paint

Opinion: MAF very fast and accurate. At 200mm and TA it is slightly soft (however absolutely usable), but it retrieves very quickly becoming a "blade" already af / 4. Stabilization is frightfully excellent, allowing shots (obviously to static subjects) even 5 stops below the safety threshold. Personally I doubted this, but by doing the test, I took a hand with 1/10 times, observing a total absence of microregion. However, I have also noticed a high battery consumption when the stabilizer is running. The blur is very enjoyable, and the 200mm portrait and the af / 4 aperture results with clear, blurry very soft details. The colors are pure and the perfect contrast. The barrel construction is made of metal, giving the optics a look of high strength but without increasing the total weight, which is still perfectly distributed on the bracket. In addition tropicalization gives more tranquility% 3B in the use of optics in "uncomfortable" climatic and environmental conditions. Used on Nikon D3200 and Nikon D610, never had front / back focus.rnrnPS problems: After 3 months and half of the purchase, I'm going to review the My opinion. The paint on the metal part of the body tends to form small bubbles and shiver.

Pros: Sharpness, af fairly reliable and silent obviously not at the levels of a Nikon or Nikon Canon with Canon, but you can settle for it, good also the construction, great price, as well as its competing rivals.

Cons: The sore note I would say the box as a first thing, there is no real soft or semi-rigid housing such as the competitors of the most prestigious homes, but all the cardboard, it may even be the justification for the low cost, although it is since April I am still trying, but at the moment I did not find any other defects.

Opinion: In general, I would say a very good optic at a fairly honest price, as I have already said on the pros and cons even though from April I'm trying to find no particular defects, I mount it on Nikon d 750 and I'm very happy with it, plus my model had no luck front or back focus problems, so I'm suggesting it for evolved amateur use, before that I had the Nikon 70-200 f 4 and I would say I did not regret it even if the Nikon was already a lady slow, the bokeh is not the best, but still good for a zoom.
