Pros: Versatility

Cons: Backfocus and lack of the lampshed

Opinion: Bought on import at an absolutely affordable price, he replaced the "colleague" 18-105 evicted on the ground. Good handyman who maintains excellent qualities for colors and sharpness especially in the middle. Quite satisfactory the speed and silence of the focus, although it is not a missile. Robust with metal bayonet a consistent weight. Good VR that allows still photos even below 1/15 of a second. It loses something at 140 mm, it becomes soft and you have to push something in post production. The goal, however, is an all-rounder, without artistic ambitions, very suitable for photos on the fly on trips. Suspicious of too many blurry, I discover one day a marked backfocus that I had to correct on nikon d7000 quite clearly. With this adjustment it came back sharp and clean. The presence of the lampshow that is missing would have been welcome. Good photos at all

Pros: Compact, light and fairly sharp at all focal points, price

Cons: Distortion, lack of lampshed at purchase

Opinion: Sold on the 18-200, I took this lens alongside the d5600, despite having d780 and similar optics. I needed something practical and light for sudden hikes and outings. The 18-140, unlike its detractors, is the best 18- xxx of the nikon, excellent construction quality to the touch and use of zoom, excellent Af, but the actual positive note is the discreet sharpness to all the focals even the longest ones, and from edge to edge, the Mtf tests support this impression of me even to diaphragms more open. Backlight behavior is also positive. Slight diffraction at f11 and f22, and a little vignetting at 18mm. While distortion at shorter focal points is present and noticeable. In the end it is sharp, what I basically look for from an optical point of view, certainly not a blade like 70-200 2.8 or fixed optics, but it always makes great photos. Vote 9.5

Pros: Versatile lightweight

Cons: Disappointed by the lack of sharpness at the long focals, I sell it to move to 16/80

Opinion: Purchased by reading the various opinions here but in my opinion it is not valid as reviewed, at the most extensive focal points it has a lack of sharpness and the VR did not satisfy me, if you want to travel light it is fine but nothing more. In its favour it has the price but this factor affects quality, those who praise it have not made comparisons with other lenses, I consider it a poor objective when compared with optics such as 16/80 towards which it has the only advantage of cost.

Pros: Lightness, focal ranges, sharpness, AF speed, stabilization

Cons: Un bright, light lampshade not supplied but can be purchased separately with a few euros.

Opinion: Great value for money, on the quality of the lens there is little to say is known to everyone. I needed a medium zoom lens and my choice fell on this lens. On the field it behaves very well, the best it gives on the medium diaphragms and focal points, it is certainly not a sample of brightness but you have to take into account the type of use and cost. The weight is 490 grams. lighter than the Sigma 50mm 1.4 EX DG HSM in my possession weighing 500g. I notice a bit of optical aberration and at the maximum focal point highlights a bit of vignette all solvable in post. production. Recommended for all generic photography, a little less for those specific categories that require maximum brightness.

Pros: Everything (except the lampshade and bag that are not included in the package)

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: Taken in kit with d500, for what it costs is fantastic, sharp, fast and precise even for sports photos, great focal excursion, also great in videos. It won't be a f 2.8 but it also costs three times less than 16-80, and according to the tests (for what they're worth) it's sharply equal and the autofocus is even faster. Straconsigliato

Pros: Focus range, sharpness, AF speed, stabilization.

Cons: Dark, because in kit you tend to underestimate it.

Opinion: Taken in kit in 2017 with the D7200, it remained in the drawer a few years because I thought it did not have enough quality in terms of rendering of the images. So much so that you replaced it with a Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. Over time, however, I "discovered" that the photos I take mainly in the day time to more closed diaphragms and so here this lens sadly returns to my bayonet where it should always be. The speed and precision of the AF are always excellent and also the sharpness more than satisfactory. In addition, the range of focals allows you to switch from landscape to canvases in half a second. The night suffers the most because the maximum opening is what it is. In this case, just rely on a 35mm f/1. 8 and it's right. I finally sold the Tamron. To be honest, I put a sale also this 18-140 but only because I would like to try the 16-80 that given the premises of this optical kit should be a super lens. :)

Pros: Low price, range of use, ease of use, convenience of use.

Cons: Considering it's a lens "KIT" no cons!

Opinion: Like so many I bought this lens in the kit along with the body machine D7100. It is not a perfect goal, however considering that it is often the first lens that is used I would say that it does its job well! From 120 to 140mm it is not very bright and suffers from vignette but in an acceptable way. The value for money is very good. I would like to recommend it to all those who are looking for a handyman without a precise and defined need and without wanting to spend too high figures, surely you will be satisfied!

Pros: Low price, wide range, lightness

Cons: Unluminous, NOT excellent VR, at 140 vignette. Limited for APS-C cameras only

Opinion: It's the classic all-rounder lens that you usually buy together with your first Reflex. Being a handyman obviously doesn't excel in any field. However, the great field of focal points it offers will encourage you to carry you always with you, especially during your travels. Unfortunately the opening of the diaphragms, as soon as you increase the ZOOM a little, almost immediately switches to f5.6 which makes it quite dark and therefore its use is reduced on good daylight days and only in the middle hours. Vr works discreetly, although other NIKON models offer much higher performance. At the maximum focal point there is a marked vignette effect, which we know many likes or can be easily eliminated with PP software. Very low weight and ease in managing ZOOM because with a small rotational movement you can immediately switch from maximum to focal minimum. It is not tropicalized and the presence of a double bayonet system definitely makes it at risk of dust and/or dirt inclusions. I conclude by saying that it is my first purchased lens and, at the moment, I have no intention of giving it away.

Pros: Sharpness, lightness, price

Cons: Missing the lens Hood

Opinion: I'm taking off great satisfactions. I use it on a D7500 and truthfully in relation to the price, I find this optics excellent. Just look at some of the photos here posted to realize it. It Is typically a travel lens, has a striking sharpness despite the focal hike. It just makes Me kind of missing the standard lens hood. Good, the advice!

Pros: Great all-rounder, very accurate construction, robust and reliable, stabilizing and impeccable lenses!!..

Cons: I would say nothing at that price!!

Opinion: A whole other story than the younger brother 18/105..it's well finished. from steel bayonet to lenses to fast and precise autofocus, well balanced even at full focal extension, to the touch is pleasant, soft and fluid zoomed, to 140mm diaphragm you have more than resolute shots, a nice lens at a great price! I highly recommend it!

Pros: Good image quality, fast and quiet autofocus, compact, and metal bayonet!!

Cons: ........ To be a handyman..... nothing

Opinion: I have had it on the Nikon D90, then on the Nikon D7200 and now I use it successfully on the Nikon D500!! It will seem strange but paired with the Nikon D500 is a good pairing to get beautiful photos of panoramas, various ceremonies and portraits. It has a good focal length hike that corresponds to 27-210 FF format, great for when you're on the road. Certainly you can not compare to the infamous lenses with fixed optics, but to be a handyman is a good goal! There are no barrel effects at the small focal point, but I only click in JPEG. I do not like retouching the photo in post production, for me the photo must be born clean without successive modifications, otherwise everyone would be good photographers! Recommended.

Pros: value for money; Effective and Silent VR

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: Bought by a user Juza at a great price, complete with hood, in conditions equal to the new. I needed a handyman to use on vacation so I wouldn't get behind my backpack and outfit. I bought this lens well aware that I would have to pay the price in terms of brightness. In fact, thanks to VR very effective, I used it with satisfaction bringing home great shots. Coupled with the D7100 offers really good results, it seems made just for this machine. I had got to try the younger brother (18-105) but there is no comparison in terms of quality. Good yield at all focal lengths, although it degrades a bit to 140mm. Distortion just mentioned and easily corregible in post. Almost absent vignetting and good behavior even against the light. AF fast and effective. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a handyman on APSC!!!

Pros: Robust, versatile, good definition, very effective VR, very wide focal range

Cons: Plasticous appearance, hood for purchase separately

Opinion: Exchanged this morning with 18/105: what to say ... you can see immediately from the first shots that this is a very different story: compared to the younger brother is more robust and has a gasket around the bayonet, with anti-dust and anti-humidity function. definition and contrast is visibly and clearly superior to all focal lengths and diaphragms. It does not weigh a lot and is very well balanced on D5300 / D300s / D2Xs / D80.rn Good color and great detail feel, its best diaphragms are between 7 , 8 / 11. It's a good step forward compared to 18/105 and those extra 35mm make a lot of difference, though, as always, for the extended zoom, the maximum focal length is slightly soft. Use with care, attention and experience, provides spectacular files. Precise and quite fast focus, even in poor lighting conditions .... In short, a change I did well to make and that made me very satisfied. Maybe the best standard zoom for apsc, produced by Niko n.Straconsigliato.

Pros: Excellent focal length, well-built, metal mount and gaskets, great lenses

Cons: Missing the standard hood

Opinion: Purchased for holidays, I used it with great satisfaction this summer on my D7200. Well-made lens, fluid ring and metal fasteners with sealing gasket, the construction quality is definitely higher than the younger brother 18-105VR. The stabilizer compensates up to 4 stops and the lens behaves very well even if it is fully open. The photos are very sharp at all focuses, the contrast is great and the chromatic aberrations are contained. As a handyman I recommend it without reservation.

Pros: Focal excursion, stabilization, acceptable, great price performance ratio

Cons: No one important

Opinion: He does his work extensively, the image quality is in line with the 18-55 VR but with a wider focal length. You can find them in bulk packs at a competitive price, but without hindrance. The stabilizer is effective, average autofocus. A product with no acute but also with no particular weaknesses. Great price performance ratioVoto 8

Pros: zoom range, construction, f.8 / 11 sharpness.

Cons: Nothing particular, maybe little brightness (but a handyman) and stabilizer a little noisy ... a little sticker '.

Opinion: I got back to 260 € after I sent back a Tamron 18 200 vc to problems with the stabilizer, sharpness and colors that I did not like. rnrnQuesto 18,140 is a good handyman perhaps dim. rnHa excellent sharpness at all focal lengths, but in particular between 50 and 100 mm in f.8 /f.11 and with a hoya Skylight 67mm front, that little bit extra. The mounted above my D3300, someone goes in saying modesta.Sicuramente is not high end, but it happens its Sony sensor holds well up to ISO 3200, asphalting machines also type "canon" higher end

Pros: Lightweight and compact, good quality with metal bayonet, fast and quiet autofocus, lack of flare

Cons: Missing the window for the distance

Opinion: Purchased to replace the series 18-55, I was very satisfied, the price of the new (around 300 €, but I bought less in May of 2016) seems justified, I have notes from muovergli, the ring zoom is fluid and with an easy run to handle, fast, quiet autofocus and, if I were to change it would take a 16/85, but the cost would be completely different.

Pros: Sharpness, fast and quiet AF, light and all-rounder and bayonet metal

Cons: Price

Opinion: I recently took this goal to match it to my modest D3300, I must say that, despite being allergic to always handyman zoom, this is one of the few that struck me positively in optical quality, sharpness is not lacking, provided you pay attention to camera shake, beautiful colors and ease of use for the entire zoom range. For me, I hate the bayonet plastic, fortunately this is not his caso.rnDifetti I have not encountered except the fact of being a little dark, but it is a characteristic that we face in the new scelta.rnIl price is altino but I think the overall quality it pays off.

Pros: Clarity, ease of use, size and weight, fast day af, af noise for excellent video and VR.

Cons: af the slow dark, lack of fanlight supplied, high price if purchased in kits.

Opinion: Lens that covers the entire zoom range equivalent to 27-210mm many situations the amateur and the professional photographer. Great for daytime sporting opportunities for the speed of af and sharpness, especially af 8/11, which allows very advanced crop. Very easy to handle with its size and weight, however, it shows its limits at night. Overall good for the professional and good for the amateur. I have chosen him as a kit with the Nikon D5500 and I'm very satisfied, feeling little, for the amateur that I do, the lack of other brighter fixed targets or with several focal spinte.Validissimo for video as the del'af noise is imperceptible. Cons: distortion at 18mm definitely a little dark but like all these optical handyman. af slow absence window and lens hood

Opinion: if I had to buy it separately definitely I would say no. in the kit there is seen prezzo.è convenient when you do not make a specific output and above all the day because at night is useless seen the lack of window of manual focusing becomes difficult when it is dark and not af funziona.secondo me sharpness it is good for the lens that is.

Pros: zoom range "right", sharpness between f8 and f13, resistance to flare, construction, color rendering

Cons: A bit 'dark, lack of window

Opinion: I took this as the first goal instead of the classic 18 55 and 18 105. The quality is undoubtedly superior both in level of construction (bayonet metal) and image quality. I have noticed an excellent sharpness from f / 8, but also to defend more openings, the color rendering is good and does not distort the minimum excursion. rnApprezzabile in my view the range of focal lengths covered: in output "light" you can just bring this goal and bring home good images. rnDa a good yield on the latest 24-megapixel sensors from being able to exploit them to meglio.rnMaf through to precise ultrasonic motor, fast and quiet (a proven engine once there it bears more Ultrasonic). Vr effective for focal dell'obbiettivo.rnForse competence a little 'dark, but the aperture is about average for the membership-end objective. The most unsympathetic lack is the window to focus.

Pros: Price, not too heavy, af fast, focal length

Cons: dark, Unclear

Opinion: Great all make handy on vacation, fairs and trips out of suffering brings in night shots or nationals who do not. It is not, however, very reliable professional levels, although I was undecided with the Sigma 17-50 f2.8 are absolutely delighted, it would not hurt to have a F4 or greater focal maybe from 16 in this case it would exploit more shots in museums, citizens or panoramic

Pros: robust, not very heavy, very good zoom range, lightning-fast autofocus

Cons: not really crystal clear and a bit 'dark

Opinion: Good handyman ... I bought this lens after spending a year mulling over what to buy handyman. I state that I love the fixed objectives for their brightness and sharpness, but I needed a handy zoom and it was a good compromise between focal length and sharpness. I was attached to the Sigma 17-70 HSM C however the new Series "C" it seemed very expensive and also not as revolutionary as the previous one. The old one was suffering from problems focusing. Already I am not a summit, let alone if you add the lens problems. In addition, 70 mm seemed a bit 'corti..a this same way then I held my 18-55. I solved the problem with this zoom, which is relatively cheap (I bought it second-hand) and has a focal length range which for me is more than enough. Only problem is that it is obviously not sharp and bright as a 35 mm 1.8, but that goal is in your pocket so if necessary I will replace the handyman with fisso.rnInsomma, I would advise buying who, like me, is interested in a travel goal to keep always installed.

Pros: Versatile AF good, true color, acceptable weight. Quality materials', all around

Cons: no beer

Opinion: had it not been for the kit I bought it anyway because 'and' very comfortable, certainly not better than any single fixed lens but if you read the reviews of 24,20,28,35,50 etc etc are worse than these of 18 to 140 is not 'the only lens in my backpack but is definitely what makes the difference on the road, a bit' dark, now we have machines with 25,600 amateur dare as the D7200 remember when we could buy a roll of film to 250 Asa it looked like a bomb avevam! rnStavo buying other objective but I realized that against this are very few, I did night shots and they are fantastic, I did portraits, landscapes, photos of the sea, just about everything, even if it is 'to professional levels and' in able to let you take home fond memories without having to follow a bunch of stuff, I found an auction 18-300 curiosity 'I took it, both very good and recommended me hours although the 18-300 weighs! rnSe you capitto buy it will not regret it

Opinion: A great all-rounder to be combined with machines right as my ex d3100. Sharpness and contrast are at the level of the latest Nikon lenses. Af VR really fast and I found ottimo.rnTra her against distortion at 18mm, the fact that Nikon optics provide this bag without it he hood and the maximum aperture variable (but these figures with a few fixed, of bright or fixed aperture is not nothing) .rnCmq I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a handyman to carry around without changing optics.

Opinion: and a lens that is giving me a lot of satisfaction .... after getting his hands on the 18 200 vr 2, the 18,105 vr, and the Tamron 17 50 2.8 I can confirm that with the Nikon 18 140 vr I feel better !! in the first few shots I noticed better contrast and more visible detail. now and for two months I use this lens taking it very few times just to use the tele longer, if I have to point out a small detail can tell you that the best pictures I are in the sunsets or morning when we lower solar luminosity, but all in all and something quite tolerable .... Pros: all, build quality, sharpness, color rendering, flare backlit, focal length, metal ring, grip,

Cons: considering the price (depending on where you take it changes significantly NITAL = 500 and passes EBAY = 252), no !, maybe just my model came with the zoom ring a little too hard and after a few days of "you zoom" has loose.

Opinion: When I buy a new lens I tend to use it for at least a month without ever remove it, I want to test and understand / get used to its focal. So after almost two months since I put this wonderful allaprova "handyman" I can say with sincere satisfaction to me is surprising positively. I specify that I have often try many professional goals and I own a 55-300 vr and a 35 f / 1.8 dx. It was with the latter fixed lens I want to force a comparison limited to the sharpness and we also want to compare my old 18-105. At the level of detail and clarity I can only repeat that are positively stunned. The details that fails to return on my D7100 are of high standard with various tricks obviously zoom lenses are not equally sharp at all focal lengths. This lens keeps well from 18 to 135 to 140 then the yield is still very good but if you want more clarity just close to f / 6.3 or f / 7. The color rendering is natural, always returns a set of colors balanced without loading of yellow / green as often happened with the 18-105, andwhat about the yield backlit? Virtually no use the lens hood in fact the house yellow black original equipment does not have it for this reason. I preferred to take one apart from the same just to keep the front lens safe from accidental impact. This lens does not suffer for nothing backlit think is the best among the 18-xxx who first offers this obvious advantage. Money well spent ordered on ebay arrived in three days to 252 euros and worth them all. I must also say that the build quality has improved more than the 18-105, the bayonet attack f is metal but the same rings are more "hard" idea to give added strength. We all know that for the price and the end of this range goals you can not expect too much, but the expectations have all been answered. One must be able to pull the soul from a goal, work it at all focal lengths, for example with my old 18-105 f / 7.1 on a 18mm filter Hoya 67 mm and a tripod or shutter speed to minimum 150s pulled out Excellent flow images. I am sure that now with 18-140 potrò do even more, and especially in view of a renewal of my kit to switch to optical FX this will remain the only lens dx. Like it or not is always useful, you can do the walk or the journey and not having to change optical every 10 minutes. The weight is negligible we are around 400 gr much as 18-105 even if the size you immediately notice that is slightly larger.

Cons: excellent yield not to 140mm

Opinion: bought to replace the 18-55 kit from, on the one hand has confirmed the good quality to 18, with a brightness picture even in twilight more than acceptable (possibly manageable by increasing the iso). I never noticed the particular distortions and / or aberrations of the 18, for which the focal maggiormente.rnaggiunge use that little something extra to the 105 which is not bad at all. of course, like all the zoom of this range, the maximum focal detail I suffer a bit, but with the right format, even as early as 130 comprono is really a great deal of need. a great all do, because among other things, in the white box is located at honest prices

Pros: Excellent from all points of view. Before I had the "usual 18-105", and I must say, that in a few shots, I noticed a clear improvement, in terms of sharpness, speed, and accuracy of focus. I would also add the fact that it makes very good even wide open, and just get to F6.3 or 7.1 for maximum, even at 140. VR. moreover, engages quickly, even when I tried it (!) with a kenko 1.4 tc Pro300, and I was literally amazed at how "get along"!!!!!.

Cons: For now, no

Opinion: In my opinion, it is one of the best all-rounder objectives, superior even to the 18-200, which I got to try for a short period. I, not having many opportunities to travel, I usually do my tests, in the vicinity of the house, in a park, and always the same things, a bell tower, the eaves of the building in front of a house on the hill, etc ... . And I have noticed that with this goal, even zooming in, I could see, "details never noticed before," not even in the same photos taken with the 18-200, and ... that's incredible, even with the 55-300! !!. What can I say, admit that I'm excited about this 18-140 vr, is the minimum. I did find the will to "photograph"!!!!
