Pros: Lightweight and very transportable; optically not unlike the brother f. 2.8 MK II that I own and that 9 times out of ten I leave at home to take this with me; Super AF.

Cons: Don't have it

Opinion: There's little to say about this lens: it's almost always mounted on my cameras. I prefer it to the 2.8 that although excellent and stabilized, most of the time when I need this focal length, the 4 is able to do the exact same job. At the price in which they are used, it is unthinkable not to have it in the backpack.

Pros: Sharp, lightweight, economical

Cons: Tires fade with time.

Opinion: The "smooth white" is a lens with an unattainable value for money. For day shots outdoors is a must-have: in such conditions you do not feel the need for stabilization. Extremely sharp and lightweight. Fast and precise focus and faithful colors. Used for sports photography with great satisfaction.

Pros: Very open clarity. "Immortal" optics, even today I see many who use it. Light and thin. Constant opening. Colors. Price of now in used.

Cons: None other than the non-constant focus between zoom lengths. F4 enough for daytime landscape photos.

Opinion: I use it on Sony Alpha with Sigma MC-11. Great solution so you don't have to buy a Sony analogue or a similar Sigma. I didn't find any problems but you have to be careful with focus as it is very selective, a blade! In some cases the edges soften with a little less sharpness but in the center it is really sharp and detailed. I have to say that it is an approach that still amazes me.

Pros: Light and compact, very sharp from f.4 (to f. 4 just a little soft at the edges). L series, price of second hand.

Cons: Don't have it in your backpack.

Opinion: Just found used at a derisory price. Tried an equestrian contest and I must say it stunned me. In addition to the big brother (70/200 f. 2.8 Mk II), I also own the 300 f. 4 and the 300 f. 2.8, (which I use alternately depending on the situation), but this despite this I decided to try this trinkelin at the competition. Well, it literally won me over. Crisp from the very beginning; excellent micro contrast and sharpness; very fast in hooking the subjects, light and compact on the 1DX mark II makes the work easy and comfortable. Found used for almost nothing, I consider it the best deal of my working life.

Pros: Sharpness, Color Rendering, Bokeh, Construction, Lightness, Footprint, Cost.

Cons: No one you don't know at the time of purchase.

Opinion: The Lens! Mounted on Canon 6D never let me down. Great clarity at all openings, excellent color rendering and pleasant bokeh when used at F4. Light, robust and not bulky, fast in focus and excellent value for money. Lack of stabilizer and diaphragm not bright are not a problem for me. I use it mainly for landscapes and when the light is scarce I support the reflex on the tripod. In short, it has no cons that you do not already know at the time of purchase. Vote 10.

Pros: Image quality and sharpness. Price in used.

Cons: None for the price of the used

Opinion: This is about the 80th review on the 70-200, I don't think I have much to add. I'm just saying I bought it a few months ago when I switched to FF, and the comparison with 55-250 (which remains a good lens for aps-c) is pitiless, the leap in image quality is stark. I can't give directions for those who use aps-c, but if you have a FF and you're thinking about whether it's appropriate to buy it, don't think about it and buy it. It is crisp, quite compact and has a relatively fast af.

Pros: Used price, weight, fixed opening and L series construction

Cons: Not tropicalized, not stabilized, lack of tripod bracket, but all things that are already known at the time of purchase

Opinion: Bought used at a price (200€) and has very good performances even more than 20 years after its release, and as far as I am concerned it was money well spent on a fixed focal zoom-tele. At such a figure you cannot buy even a standard lens and you certainly cannot expect to have stabilization, tropicalization and fixed f/2.8. The mount with adapter on the Canon Eos R and the optical and constructive quality is from the L Canon series you can immediately see right, before I had a Tamron 70-300 VC, but this immediately gave me incredible landscape details, sharp and with truly vivid colors, I just have to try it on portraiture even better. To date I tell the truth, the only thing maybe I feel less about the tamron, is just stabilization, here I must always be above safety times so as not to have micromox, you also want the density of the Eos R, but CMQ remains a respectable perspective. In conclusion, if you have a limited budget and do not want an f/2.8, this lens is a must have to own, love as mentioned given the price on the used, obviously if money is not a problem or for professional reasons ... 2.8 all life.

Pros: Cost, weight, size, blurry, fixed opening, L series construction

Cons: Nobody

Opinion: L series lens that can be found used at a ridiculous price. He has a low weight of 700g which compared to his older brother f2.8 or f4 Is is derisory, so the collar for the easel is useless. You can have it hanging around your neck with an aps-c body all day long and you don't break your back. Lens that together with aps-c body makes it an excellent pairing for outdoor sports photography (I used it on 80d for a long time and I have always found myself well). I also used it for portraits, at 200mm it has a great blurry and a great detachment of the floors. In my "athletic" gallery most of the photos were taken with this lens. Well made construction, metal body and beautiful fluid and "grippate" rings. I'm only selling it for 70-200 2.8 because for me the weight is irrelevant and at 2.8 the detachment of the plans is even more marked. In conclusion, if you are looking for a light medium zoom tele zoom this lens is perfect for you!

Pros: Weight, colors, sharpness, availability and cost of the used

Cons: Not tropicalized, unsteadyed, lack of tripod bracket, it's not a 2.8, but given the price you can't expect more than it already does

Opinion: This lens is a godsend for all those on a tight budget but still want to have a very good performance product, even more than 20 years after its release. Nowadays (2020) it is used in excellent condition between 400 and 300 euros, and as far as I'm concerned it was money well spent on a fixed focal camera. For that figure you can not expect to have stabilization, tropicalization and fixed f/2.8, would be given away. The optical and construction quality is from the L Canon series, I used it especially on SonyA7RII to make landscaping and gave me incredible landscape details, sharp and with really vivid colors. If I were to sell it it would only be to take something tropicalized or f/2.8, but I repeat, for 400 euros this lens turns out to be a viable alternative to the super expensive sony native canvas zooms. In short, for a hobbyist or a person on a budget, this lens is truly a godsend. If money is not a problem or you need something better performing for professional reasons then look for the other, optical technology has made great strides in the last 20 years. Score: 9

Pros: Colors, weight, sharpness already at F4, blurred, fluidity of the dials, speed and silence of the focus, value for money, L series.

Cons: No one who does not know at the time of purchase. And especially none in relation to the price at which it is located (paid 300 euros used...).

Opinion: I took this lens a while ago in search of a "cheap" but quality zoom to pair with my M50 and I'm more than satisfied, I would say I'm excited about it. Being the M50 an aps-c the focals clearly stretch becoming type 116-320 so what you lose on the short side is regained abundantly on the long side. The M50 is a very small machine, it does not have in the least the grip of a reflex, but nevertheless this 70-200, being very light and relatively small in size, pairs perfectly with the machine body not at all unbalanced (considering also the extra cm of the adapter). The 24-105 L that I have, in comparison, is a very uncomfortable boulder, not to mention the quality yield not even remotely comparable. As for the tripod ring, having the hook on the adapter and being the lens very light (in relation to the focal), you do not feel the need at all, the weight does not pull forward and remains perfectly balanced. On image quality, sharpness, blurred, precision, speed etc everything has already been said, FANTASTIC. One of those rare cases where yield far exceeds spending. Strange.

Pros: Excellent yield to all the focal points already from f4

Cons: It has its limits but no really important cons. The tripod collar is not provided.

Opinion: Purchased as a cheap telezoom for a Sony A7RII, it proved to be a solid performer despite the age of the project. It has excellent sharpness even with interfragm all open and to virtually all the focal points, from the center up to 2/3 of the full frame field. The edges are a soft at 70mm, for landscapes close at f11. Already 80mm up the edges become consistent without needing to diaphan. Classic 70mm barrel distortion and 200mm cushion, not much and regular, it corrects itself smoothly. Vignette perfectly under control. Chromatic aberrations also these almost absent, a bit at the edges at 70mm on 42 Mpx. It has focus shifts at the lowest focal points, if you focus in the manual at full opening you have to take this into account. I didn't see field warp. Certainly a fixed 200mm f2.8 is a bit superior in all aspects: deadlift, bokeh, sharpness throughout the field, distortion, but if you want the convenience of the variable focal, in acceptable size and weight, this zoom is still a valid alternative to this day. Commonplace wants the IS MKI version to be optically better, but this is disproved by both the official MTF of Canon and Lensrental (Mr. Cicala) who claim a slight supremacy of the smooth on stabilized especially at 70mm. The MKII, on the other hand, is superior. The AF on Sony with MC-11 is generally good, even in AFC, it becomes problematic in low light and/or 200mm by selecting AF spots at the edges. An indoor or evening event requires a native attack. Sony's IBIS allows you to use this freehand zoom with relatively low times, stabilizes the viewfinder and disadvens soft images for micro-movement. Perfect. Last thing to report, this 2019 (new buy) is calibrated very well, no tilts and decentralities noticeable.

Pros: Surprising sharpness, autofocus, color yield, compact and light enough, value for money

Cons: It's not tropicalized

Opinion: Excellent lens, which on Canon 6d gives beautiful results in terms of sharpness and color rendering. The first time I tried it I was surprised by the sharpness of the image (perhaps it's my lucky specimen) since someone complained that it is not so. It is quite light and compact for its category, great for landscapes, for portraits also but it would be better to opt for the stabilized version. Unfortunately it is not tropicalized, so if it starts to rain, even slightly, you have to have a few more precautions. Apart from this last observation, it's a real L-series

avatarjunior
sent on November 22, 2019

Pros: Autofocus, excellent closed diaphragms IQ, beautiful colors, small and light for a 70-200, price in used

Cons: Not sharp at f 4 on aps-c

Opinion: The lens has a fairly old design, I do not think it is as solid as some say: mine stopped working after a few months (I admit that I bought used from a private here on the forum and do not know where it was or what made the lens) and I spent anyway the money that I saved by taking it used in the repair of the focus engine. However a good lens to a good budget, which gave me beautiful photos and that will continue to do so.

Pros: Value for money, sharpness, colors

Cons: Lack of l-bracket

Opinion: Bought a twelve year ago because I thought I would take pictures of butterflies and birds (I was a boy...) I use now with the 24-70 f4 as a "generalist" lens for the landscape, but not only. As soon as I bought it immediately struck me for the colors and sharpness: accustomed to the lens of the kit opened my heart, it was beautiful. Honestly the only flaw I can find him and not having had the L bracket supplied: ok it is not heavy, but in short it was fine. I bought it separately.

Pros: All!

Cons: Nothing!

Opinion: First of all, I want to congratulate DiegoD and give him all my understanding of his choice. I immediately get to the bottom of it: I own the IS version, but I also had the non-IS, used on Ds MIII and on 7D, it's a lens that has never let me down in all situations and in any light condition that has been good , less good or poor; to say the least stratospheric the focus that remains truly lightning fast and never uncertain... Never! The stabilization is extremely effective and allows you to take pictures, (at least I managed great), taking home great shots, with times of 1/15, 1/8 and even 1/4 of a second, as for some shots that I have in the gallery fireworks with the 24-105, so much the stabilizer is as effective in the same way. The creaminess of the blur in the portraits, remains on very high levels and its progressiveness is on par with optics that cost twice its price and dedicated specifically for portraits! Obviously, used at 200mm and at some distance with f4. On the contrary, brightness apart from some of these optics see 1.4, 1.2 or 2, and costing over 2000 euros, in the field, have very little, to say nothing to teach the 70-200 about AC and sharpness at full opening! If at medium closures type 5.6-8 remains a scalpel, well I can definitely say that at f4 already remains a razor and without compromise of sorts, and moreover over the whole range of focals; the colors it returns and the three-dimensionality of the images is nothing short of stunning! Then going through the focus and the change of internal focal?! Spectacular. What else to add: stabilizer a little noisy? paralights a little cumbersome and unplastic? (plastic in the sense of graceful compared to optics) lack in kit of the ring for tripod? F4 maximum opening? Minimum focus distance of 1.5mt? Sorry but when you evaluate a lens, as in this case, you should evaluate what you bought or what you would like to buy? Do we know at the outset certain shortcomings, if we want to call them limits? And I'd like to see!!! I honestly prefer not to put them, to be consistent in the cons; the lack of the ring for statil, when I bought it already I knew that I would have to buy it separately! But do we really want to make a judgment on what we're feeling or do we want the moon? Well if we want that, let's book with the first ticket for the next 5 years, among the first to land on it for tourist purposes and spend on the 150 thousand euros round trip... and we'll touch it with our hands! I rate this optic10 and praise without reservation, stabilized or not! The new stabilized f4 kit has the ring for the tripod, given the price 1300 th now give it. But the difference always makes the photo taken and not the accessory. Good light to all and a special "thank you" goes to the maintainers of the site, which allow us to discuss a hobby, work, which remains among the most beautiful and engaging that there can be.

Pros: Lightness, blurry, sharp, autofocus.

Cons: Whiteness

Opinion: I will do a particular review, approving everything already said in previous reviews. It's all true, for what it costs it's crazy not to have it in the kit even if you only use it once. Now you will understand why my review is strange... in my 20 years of photography when I had this optics I was looking for more... plus f, more mm, more stabilization... more discretion.... and then I was selling this optics For the counterpart f2,8 or for the 70-300 is or for the 70-300 do. or for the 100-400, in short never happy... you want to know the result... Now the 70-200 f4 l usm is in my kit... others... ?. The use I make of it is strange... maybe: he caught up and birdwithes with the multiplier 2x, this thanks to the R that allows me to focus fearlessly at f11 and if there is The sun even at f16. Am I crazy? Maybe so, but I hope it will make you understand what this lens is to me at least.

Pros: sharpness, internal zoom, content weight, auto focus

Cons: No stabilizer, Lens hood

Opinion: It's really amazing the performance in terms of sharpness, fast and precise autofocus. Even the low weight makes it particularly "comfortable" even in long outputs. Very versatile lens that best of itself in portraits with a nice bokeh effect, even if I happened to use it with satisfactory results in landscape photos. All in all, value for money very inviting. To be absolutely revised the lens hood: decidedly bulky and aesthetically ugly.

Pros: Colors at the TOP, Lens does not escape. Certainly a true L-series.

Cons: Lack tripod ring

Opinion: Although not a professional, I used it both for Matrimionio (my son) and for portraits (excellent) and, with multiplier, for shooting avi-fauna. I must say that I was really surprised despite the many positive criticisms on the net. If you are interested in a portrait target, you have found it. Very believable blurred. I happened to use it outdoors and also took some rain without consequences. I use it with my 7d Mark II and it seems like a really good pairing. Although I didn't believe it before, in the photo gallery I think it's the best lens I have of the 4 I have (also fixed). I also tried version 2.8 not stabilized and it seems to me that it loses something in terms of sharpness.

avatarjunior
sent on January 20, 2019

Pros: A true L-series, very good images and colors, construction, internal zoom and very good AF

Cons: Old project, not weather sealed and lack of tripod ring (remember it's a L series)

Opinion: A lens with a strong personality, usable even at full aperture as I expect from a professional lens (obvious that I talk about portraits or fauna, certainly not for landscapes). As I do not expect from a professional lens lacks the tropicalization, at least stated. The 24/105 pass it for tropicalized, but with the zoom I would be careful to sand and similar, here the zoom and the Af are internal, it will be hard to put it ko. But the fact remains that it is not tropicalized. And there is also a handy accessory for a zoom like that, the tripod mount. For the rest is a very good goal, it is reasonably priced and does its job in an egregious way despite being a slightly outdated (and perhaps forgotten?) Project of Canon Home

Pros: Sharpness, construction, focus, price.

Cons: Lack of stabilization and tropicalization, Lens hood.

Opinion: This Canon 70-200 really surprised me. As a good lens L series has a really good sharpness and an autofocus that does not miss a shot. Fast and precise, it never fails. The construction is robust even if the absence of tropicalization does not make it suitable for certain situations. Advised the purchase of a tripod ring to compensate for the lack of stabilization, which however is not a real problem, depends on the needs of the photographer. The lens hood is really obscene, but it's my personal opinion. Recommend considering the really competitive price which makes it suitable a bit at all.

avatarjunior

Pros: Sharpness, weight, internal zoom, quality L-series materials, image quality, flawless and quick AF, price

Cons: No tropicalization and stabiliser

Opinion: I bought this lens in the new condition at a very advantageous price and this slow is proving me worth every single penny. Assuming that I had occasion to test the version with the stabilizer and the version F 2.8 stabilized. Following the field tests I decided to opt for this lens because weight is incredibly light, I almost never felt the need to detach it from the camera body because it is a real handyman. The lens comes inside to prevent the presence of dust between the lenses, while the focus is lightning-fast, but not completely silent. Although it is a lens that does not have the stabilizer I have not missed it, keeping an eye to the times, come photos with incredible quality and sharpness, without being stirred. As for the brightness I found very well immediately with this F4, which manages to get along very nicely even in situations that would see him in difficulty, facilitating the choice between the F 2.8 and F4. It lacks the tropicalization, but it does not take away the fact that it is a lens to carry everywhere (but that I would treat anyway with care even if it had tropicalization). A Canon 6d with this lens over will not weigh you as much as other lenses, especially if you wear it hooked to the shoulder for so long, as I do. Lens hood included, always useful to carry it behind. To be a lens still in production from 1999 (and if they produce it again, a reason will be...) worth every penny you'll spend, shows how much L-series are a guarantee of quality. sharpness, quality and efficiency well beyond expectations. Pros: Sharpness, base focal range for a good telephoto lens, weight, barrel that doesn't stretch

Cons: It's white, lens hood

Opinion: Bought this summer I got to try it out in the mountains in the hikes where you do appreciate it for the low weight. A lens with a really good value for money, it is found used at about 400 euros. Sharp already closing a stop (F4 for me is not as sharp as others are saying), while at F9, F11 for mountain landscapes is the maximum sharpness across the frame. I basically never do portraits but at 200 and F4 has a good out of the plans. So if you ended up reading the reviews it means that you are undecided between the smooth and the stabilized. Sometimes I regret the stabilizer do not tell you bales, but all in all if you do not shoot with little light also this model will give you great satisfaction. Always an eye at shutter speed to avoid the blur. If you are willing to abide by the rule then buy it unstabilized, otherwise dropped 100 euros more (used) and take it IS. We come to the flaws: the color, useless guys that we ride around, if I had to choose the optics for the aesthetics this lens would never come in outfit. The white cream color is really horrible to my taste. In combination with the black machine then.... Well, fortunately that makes beautiful photos, and I forget the color of the barrel. The lens hood, so large that it will always stay at home, I have no room in the backpack to carry it. Too big and bulky.

Pros: Perceived quality, sharpness, price, weight.

Cons: I'm not judging a 20-year target.

Opinion: A few months from a friend who used it as a knits for his little interest in photography, I approached with curiosity to do "experiments" with this senior telephoto L Series. The specimen I owned was purchased in 2001 and has obvious signs of wear (probably of the sun because there are coloured rubberized parts) on the tires of the rings but I was pleasantly displaced by the quality of the shots that I managed to Get with my little 800d. Light and beautiful to see, always makes good figure! Probably if my finances allow me to evaluate to buy a copy of my thinking about the stabilized version and a bit ' newer!

Pros: Sharpness, construction, colors, internal zoom, image quality

Cons: No tripod ring, no tropicalization, AF slightly noisy

Opinion: I bought this 70-200 used on offer in store at a super price and I tried well before finding it because it was the tele that I was missing in the kit. It has many merits and few flaws in my opinion, I also had a Tamron 70-300 VC a few years back but it never conquered me. I decided to stay in the house canon with all my optics and as such the choice has fallen on canon even for tele. Built very well by real L series, the zoom is inside the barrel and therefore does not extend, great thing. The rendition of the images is superb and despite being the 70-200 of Canon's cheapest, on the final rendering of the images there is nothing missing. Possible "problems", if we wanted to call them are the absence of tropicalization that is found only on the models is (F4 and F 2.8) and sometimes freehand the stabilizer. But the speech is always the same, with quick times the stabilizer is not indispensable and in other situations you can use a tripod in order to remedy the "problem". Another thing that makes a little ' crooked nose is the absence of the ring for the tripod, which is intended for the tripod but also helps a lot of free hand as you can lean on the palm of the hand and counterbalance the zoom, which weighs 705g but is still to be managed well V The length. The ring of the tripod you can find online non-branded canon but of third for an expense of about 20/30 € made in aluminum and I recommend the purchase. Last note, maybe it is my model but I had similar confirmations even from those who bought it again, that the autofocus is sometimes noisy in particular at the extremes of its extension, I think is also due to the project that is quite dated (it is almost 20 years) despite This autofocus is really quick. I would definitely recommend this 70-200, I was torn between the 4 models.. The Forbidden Dream was the 70-200 II IS f/2.8 But in addition to the cost also the weight to be taken behind was not recently, I had used the tele 90% of the time I would have had doubts and that would have been my choice, but for those who use it little like myself and the tele It is useful for some portrait but mainly for landscaping advice to find a 70-200 F4 smooth on the used. Pros: Construction, sharpness, colors, weight, precise and fast AF, value for money

Cons: Is but I don't feel the need

Opinion: Lens that I have for a few months, mounted on my 80d I can only say to find myself really well. Coming from a Tamron 70 300 F4 5.6 VC USD, good too for the price that costs but the Canon 70 200 USM F4 I find it a span above for sharpness, fast af is not mistaken a shot, built well, fluid rings, weight and handling, and not for nothing is an L series. Sometimes I find a short hair if I shoot in the circuit MotoGP car superbike etc. But if they are available, or for general use, is a lens that gives good satisfaction. Of the stabilizer sincerely do not feel the need clicking on objects in motion or with times of safety. What to say!!!!!!! Great lens I recommend!!!!

Pros: AF, weight, construction, sharpness, colors, general yield...

Cons: Lens hood

Opinion: I have this optics for a couple of years, and I can only talk about it bene...su FF is a great lens for portraits and landscape, sharp and precise the AF, frankly I have never felt the lack of is, just keep the shutter speeds right depending on the focal that you use , the zoom does not extend and this is very important to prevent dust inside the lenses, also for this reason I have never used the cumbersome lens hood, using it almost always from the 100mm in on the same barrel acts a bit from "Lens hood", for the consequent Return of the lens in its interno...su APSC the yield is always very good, even if I find it a little tight and a little less versatile comparing it on FF (at least for me), cmq the value for money is really great, in the used with about 350/400caffè you bring home a Mrs. Lens...

Pros: Value for money, lightness, construction, fluid rings, sharpness, USM, zoom inside the barrel

Cons: Lens hood, bright white color

Opinion: I have owned this lens for a few months and I am very satisfied with it. I was very hard at first if I bought the IS version, but then I did not regret the choice, and I saved a lot of money. The construction is excellent, as well as the optical quality of the first order, the ultrasonic engine does not miss a shot even with low light and is very precise. The sharpness and contrast is spectacular and the colors well saturated. It weighs just 700 gr. and at the end of the day you do not feel tired at all. The MAF and zoom dials are very fluid and comfortable to use. The only flaw that I can attribute is to be really cumbersome and conspicuous with the lens hood mounted, but also that touch of professionalism :-) For sure is a lens that for focal / performance / price should not be missing in its kit, highly recommended!

Pros: Construction, weight, quality at TA, price and some other little thing!

Cons: No counter if you do not compare it with the tropicalized IS clone. But if you buy the smooth you already know.

Opinion: Very thick lens, paid half of the stabilized (of which I had one under test), is immediately appreciated for its low weight and for use at full aperture and for its focal range, very useful for ceremonies. At first I was hesitant about the lack of the is but I did not want to fall into this (lack) because I did not justify the double price of the same lens.rnBacking the lens in question, I can only say: I had taken before! for the color rendering and for the AF that is a sword really.rnIt 'a lens that must be in the kit of every good photographer (I think), and before taking it I read and reread the exciting comments on this lens and see them put in practice they were really weighed advice.rnChi had it and it can only speak well. Logically it is not slow to use for wildlife and similar because at least on my 5d mk2 is short at its maximum extension, but for many things is essential, I have coupled it to a 24-105 f4 prhyme series and I feel covered on a good focal length.

Pros: Construction, strength, economic, clear, excellent blurred, fast and accurate, light despite the appearance

Cons: For the price (considering that it is L series) I do not think anyone; on closer inspection, a hood that does a little 'pain due to inconvenience and lack of functionality

Opinion: I bought this lens recently, used is on 350/400 euros. I took the non-stabilized version because I do not think stabilization is so useful on these focal lengths, still low even though it arrives at 200. The lens - it would not even need to be said as L series - is robust, compact and (incredibly) lightweight. A first test is very handy, practical to use and is not uncomfortable even if you go for a full day. The tripod ring is not necessary, even for long exposures: if you already have a good tripod for the camera body, you're good to go. Coming to the point, the technical and qualitative part, for me that I have never owned lenses of this caliber, is almost embarrassing: sharpness at very high levels, excellent chromatic range, blurred to say the least exceptional (especially at 200mm F4, of course). Despite the diaphragm is not open, it is extraordinarily bright and performing. Fast, precise, always ready. It's all worth - and I would say even more -the money spent, especially if taken used (in the photographic world the lenses are "almost" always kept very well). The only flaw, in my opinion, the hood: uncomfortable and sometimes resulting almost useless. rnDirei lens absolutely "perfect", and perfection is also given by the price at which it is located. A happy island in the sea of ??the L Series, also affordable by those, like me, who have a limited budget. To have, to try, to taste and to experience, as well. Highly recommended.

Pros: Lightweight / Economical / Clear / Robust / Robust / Blur / Stretch Maf Speed

Cons: Annoying haze

Opinion: After about 7 months of testing I feel that I can give a complete review of this lens. It has relatively small, compact dimensions and since the first approach it gives a pleasant sense of strength, the fact that the zoom section is integrated inside the barrel plays In favor of greater discretion in use. The overall character of the lens is well-marked, incisive in portraits, with a delightful color rendering, intense, but not overloaded colors, contrasted to the right point.rnA strong flare and backlight resistance. RnFollowing constant f4 I do not consider it absolute dark and with recent machines (if you do not use the tripod) you obviously overexposed with higher iso or simply finding a point to lean on. RnThe price is another pro, a circular lens check, If you want to resell it, it is unlikely that you will get dust at home. The only true neo in my opinion is the hood; Unlike Brothers 2.8, this lens is accompanied by a large, not petal-like, bell-like, uncomfortable and very vague look. rNFor the rest is an impeccable lens, impeccable and honestly to have absolutely no value for money approachable from any other lens on the market.

Opinion: Honest and genuinely fantastic. The use of both full that APSC and have never been disappointed. I always take home fantastic shots. If I had to choose only one among my goal, this wins. I think that all assessments have an important subjective component often full of expectations that can be betrayed but this canon does not really mind and does not disappoint. I'm tempted by the brothers with superior brightness but I'm afraid of losing the ease and assurance of use that this 70200 is capable of giving.

Opinion: I am always ready to mount this lens whenever I need to "enter" the emotional part of the photograph. While it is not easy to handle, at first, with practice it offers unforgettable shots. And 'what I would call a good "beginning", waiting to go to a possible big brother, with greater openness. While loving the fixed lenses I can not help but take it on the stock market, especially in the more impromptu occasions, because it can save you from many unexpected. Personally I love it, although not extremely sharp and not having magical blurred a 135mm. Focusing is fast, but suffers in situations of low light, the construction is sturdy, almost spartan. very long hood, it makes it extremely difficult to use when mounted turned to the camera body. Practice the pouch to protect it on the stock exchange. I just would separate to level up.

Pros: Sharpness, auto-focus speed, quality / price ratio

Cons: Lack of tropicalization

Opinion: As I got to write in the comments of another ubiquitous zoom of the house, fortune and popularity of the Canon EF 70-200 f / 4 L USM consist of a mix of quality (fluorite lens with Super Spectra coating, which ensure excellent reduction of the aberrations and, above all, the so-called effect "ghost"), versatility (wide zoom range, low weight, good brightness) and, of these factor absolutely not secondary Rates, prezzo.rnLe autofocus performance are outstanding: so quiet as to be almost imperceptible, with a capture rate of fire even better than many of its "big brothers" .rnLa sharpness is the greatest strength of this beautiful lens, very good on the whole trip ( length) focal even at full aperture; Excellent blurred, despite the maximum aperture of f / 4 can not rival the brightest optics by diaphragms much more ù practically non-existent chromatic ampi.rnAberrazione, except for a very slight event in step of tonal areas of high contrast; excellent resistance to flare even in bright backlight. The lens construction is very accurate; particularly the use of fluoride lenses and the special Super Spectra ensure the almost complete absence of glare and "ghosting" attributable to the reflection of light on the sensor fotocamera.rnLa longevity of this view, in production since 1999 thus it derives from the construction quality and its versatility of use, but that does not make it immune to a single criticism: missing tropicalization, critical to make it absolutely essential in any corredo.rn

Pros: Lightning-fast autofocus, excellent sharpness, very good price-performance ratio

Cons: On some occasions you would like stabilized during the long hike is (obviously) taking hold

Opinion: I was lucky enough to find this wonderful lens used in mint condition, it was enough to mount it on my EOS 500D and focus on any object to realize that I was holding a quality tool, then giving a glance at the PC to those few shots taken I did not think for a moment more, I have to say that even a body of low-end machine like the 500D with this telephoto makes a quantum leap, and can give images that leave you amazed sharpness and correct color depth a pleasant blur, really remarkable with close-ups. It must say that in light conditions which are no more than good use becomes more challenging and camera shake is lurking, although it is also not a "heavyweight" one morning I've trucked approximately 2 km along a river to "hunt" of herons and I can assure you that hold long strap becomes really uncomfortable. Cons: In fact no one since you do not know a priori is a stabilized lens, and also the absence of tropicalization and the circular diaphragm must take for granted having regard to the very low purchase price.

Opinion: In my humble opinion it is the classic example that it is customary to bring under the heading: the miracle of Fluorite! RNE 'a lens that has everything you really need, however, being the older of the Canon 70-200 (with the exception of the 70-200 / 2.8 L of course) it is clear that can not boast all the latest that technology has made available to users, nevertheless I would still feel it led to the best possible compromise between performance and price.

I'm not a fan of the hood: as solid and effective doubles the space occupied by the objective, which is a shame as the compact size is one of the main reasons for choosing this goal. Pros: Quality / price ratio, sharpness, construction

Cons: I can not find!

Opinion: I bought 6 months ago. From the first day I was able to appreciate its features. With an attractive price than quality, is one of the best goals I have. The sharpness is excellent. From the point of view costruttio I really like. Sin that is not provided the ring for mounting on a tripod.

Pros: Clarity, speed and accuracy af, weight, construction

Cons: Is not stabilized, it is not sealed, tripod ring not included

Opinion: Optical nothing short of spectacular, quiet af precise and fast, a good focus and very good clarity make it truly one optical strategic recommended. Add defects in the absence of stabilization (but I can not find it right to pay so much), the non-sealing ring and no tripod.

Pros: lightweight, easy to handle, high quality optics and construction that

Cons: I could not find fault

Opinion: Possess it for many years and I used it and I use it with satisfaction every time I want to go light, while remaining safe to rely on a view of quality. Excellent sharpness at all focal lengths, becomes a bit 'softer only from 170mm up. It is only recommended if you think you can not do without a higher brightness or stabilization, otherwise it is the best choice on the market because of a value for money unbeatable.

Pros: build quality and optics, weight, speed and precision autofocus, aperture f4 over the entire focal length range, high output with 1.4X duplicator, price, color rendering, zoom

Cons: lack tropicalization ring and tripod not included

Opinion: I think it is the lens that all users of Canon should have, such as the 50mm 1.8, it's very cheap for the quality. does not weigh much and can be brought with him almost everywhere, has positive effect already at full aperture, those who feel it can not not love him. I would recommend a bit 'to everyone even beginners, due to its cost.

Pros: Construction - made - money - keeping the value

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: It 'a lens that does not disappoint the amateur as professional. The performance is high and if the f4 is enough, buy it as well, will give you the beautiful shots. Silent, accurate, clear, well-constructed. Can be used with the 1.4 extender, becoming a 280 without suffering declines evident. I took some pictures that I found very good although not reaching the levels of fixed. These considerations are confirmed by the resale value, which remains high.

Pros: All that may come to mind.

Cons: Nothing, apart from the fact of the collar for the stand which is purchased separately.

Opinion: It 'was my first lens Series praised L. .. I already using it on the 400D, since the use of 5D2 is further improved! It 's small, lightweight, with a truly excellent image quality, it costs very affordable and virtually instantaneous autofocus. In addition to the typical uses for a telephoto lens, I use it with great satisfaction even for landscapes. Highly recommended.

Pros: Light (to be 70-200) handy, economical, defined as a blade, excellent bouquet, construction of first-order, fast AF (very nearly also makes the coffee).

Cons: No tripod mount (sold separately) but if you use a hand is even an advantage. Lack of tropicalization.

Opinion: It 'was my first bianchino bought with a great desire to have a white but with the fear that it was less than 2.8. Immediately after the first shots I realized that he had bought a razor, definition exciting, wonderful colors, light to carry, one of the best series L. Then I sold it to my brother because I had to go to work demands the greater is 2.8, which I think just a tad less defined the F4 .... but that's another story. I recommend it to those who have no need for a larger aperture, a real bargain considering that now had a large depreciation. Good light to you by Andrea

Pros: Construction, general optical quality, fast autofocus and always accurate price.

Cons: Lens hood, tripod ring not included.

Opinion: For 600 euro is a lens of the highest quality: relatively light but well built, the optical quality is high, and some tests I did I would say that is comparable all'f2 .8 closed to a stop as sharpness. As reflections and chromatic aberration no problem. The brightness f4 constant is not a big deal (at full aperture is perfect) and can greatly reduce size and weight compared all'f2 .8. The autofocus is fast and accurate thanks all'USM ring, with the inevitable correction manual always available. The price is very beneficial, I paid 600 euro but it is also 500, and the ratio q / p I think it is one of the best lenses available. It is not sealed, but in light rain does not give no problems. The tripod mount ring can be very useful, unfortunately, is not included and the original cost the earth (150 euro I think), fortunately if they are of the same at 20 euro :) The shade of the old type, not very robust and above is hard to put on well. But if major faults are these two, you will understand that it is a lens to have ;)

Pros: Sharpness, colors, resistance to CA-flare and whatnot, speed and precision autofocus, value, construction, internal zoom, bokeh.

Cons: In the category L is impossible to find him defects given the price range.

Opinion: There is little to say about this lens. Fantastic in any situation, from portraits to sports, nature photography. Despite being born to FF, I found it excellent even on aps-c (with the use 40d). Sharpness at all focal scary at all apertures, autofocus that butt shot and a quick thanks to the limiter. Is not tropicalized but the construction is very good and the zoom internal therefore does not lengthen the barrel is very ergonomic. It goes with all cameras, even the lighter ones as however despite being a telephoto L-series has a size and weight. Used cost around € 450, a real bargain for this lens that does not disappoint really ever. I got to try both the Extender 1.4 (once unfortunately) and extension tubes: always great, also multiplied does not lose enamel even at room temperature and with the tubes the magnification becomes estramente not too interesting for macro forces (such as butterflies & c). Of course, the brother IS is better in all ways, but costs almost twice as much! I'm soddisfatissimo!

Pros: Light weight, excellent quality / price ratio, strength

Cons: no

Opinion: Stunning optical clarity spectacular, before you buy it I tried the stable version which in my opinion is twice as expensive, but in terms of sharpness is lower than the non-stabilized version. The construction is accurate, very sturdy yet lightweight. A lens to be recommended for those traveling backpacker is does not want to charge too much.

Pros: Superb Optics by definition, color and cost.

Cons: Not riescoi prorpio to find! perhaps the lack of sealing, but just to be overly picky.

Opinion: It 'was my first zoom 70/200L maybe I was one of the first to buy it (if nliron mistake in 1996). I paid the beauty of 2,000,000 million lire + the cost of the collar (which even then giving away ...) but when I took the first slide with the mind, the "choked" by spending passed me immediately. Beautiful colors, chromatic aberration ... nothing! lightweight, lightning-fast and precise autofocus, in short, a true champion. The fluorite lens did its dirty work and did it to the max! Note that the lens is in fluo in 2.8 was added only with the version II. When, some time later I read the magazines test / comparison with the 2.8 (is not) and I saw that not only was all'alteza .4 f, but it was even a little, than the displeasure of I had to spend all that money was reduced further. I kept it for many years and only came out when the harrier 2.8 is the bianchino privai me, not because considerassi is the lack of a defect, because at that time there were few is. I needed 2.8, took the opportunity and bought. The biachino but I remained in my heart, so much so that if the opportunity presents itself do not hesitate to pay farmleo from friends because such a quality enclosed in a lightweight and high-performance telephoto AF, the other brand if the dream (without triggering any controversy, only for the sake of truth!)

Pros: say that it is superbly sharp is little ...

Cons: missing the stabilizer, but is the economy version

Opinion: I have just this great canvas, has a truly amazing sharpness, a motor accurately and quickly, the weight is content, the focus is also excellent. For the price of course could not have even the stabilizer, the version stab it costs much more (except offers sensational). I think it's the right price for the quality that has, on the other hand, the stable version I think it's a little expensive, since List costs almost twice as much. Another point absolutely to consider is that if one wants to do an "upgrade" and buy the 2.8 or stabilized, it sells and the price remains on tranquillamento.

Pros: Light, crisp, very cheap compared to the services offered, robust

Cons: No

Opinion: I bought this lens used for an honorable figure. Has an optical quality exaggerated than what I expected. It 's very light and versatile, also mounted on a body as light as my 450 is well balanced. I think the constant aperture f4 is not to be considered as a defect because it offers in exchange for two things alone are worth the second lot, a fair price and a ratio dimensions / weight unbeatable. A lens very successful in my opinion.

Pros: Price, extreme sharpness, weight

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: The bianchino is the smallest of the Canon 70-200 L series, definitely the best as quality / price ratio! Costs half brother's stabilized, it's up to you to decide if it is to stabilize the price difference :) Going back to the 70-200 f / 4 L, is razor sharp optics with constant aperture f / 4. It 'lightweight and compact, can be multiplied (1.4 x) without major problems of sharpness. The 'f / 4 can be a problem if you plan to shoot in low light, this is the f/2.8 version! Hello Fabio

Pros: Sharpness, accurate construction and weight.

Cons: It 'sa F4 unregulated.

Opinion: On paper it is the ugly duckling of the family 70-200 but optical performance is uncompromising. In relation to the cost there is no argument that can actually detract from this lens. The AF is fast and incredibly accurate. As I said is a F4 but with small steps to "manual of photography" you get a good focus. If your budget does not allow the F2 .8 or the stabilized version of this (but it costs almost twice as much) lens is a must-have.
