Pros: Excellent construction, weight and sense of robustness, blur dreamlike

Cons: I can't find any because I knew what lens it was

Opinion: My favorite portrait lens. Every shot at 1.2 gave me fairytale portraits. Ready-made files without any need for post production. A legendary lens that ranks at the top of the genre "soft portrait" (pass me the term) when used at maximum apertures. Closing the slats we move from a soft character to a sharper and engraved one while maintaining a dream blur. In short, it is like having two goals in one. This feature in my opinion makes it unique in its kind. For a multifaceted portraitist it is impossible not to wish to have it!!! Legend, myth, unattainable!!! No longer doing portraiture I separate myself with enormous regret, I hope that those who will have it after me will get enormous satisfaction.

Pros: af , bright , saturated and battered colors , adaptable on canon R

Cons: it is not an apodized lens like the recent ones that claim to be 1.2 or 0.95 and then they are so correct that it filters a light as if they were diaphragmed at 1.8

Opinion: if you are looking for a perfect lens, look elsewhere .. if you look in my gallery you will find a comparison with the sigma 105 art 1.4 used at TA compared to the big one 85, not only the big one was brighter, but it blur more with that half stop of gain, reasoning a 105 being longer should blur more and instead the 135 L f 2 did even better than the sigma. In the end I decided to buy this 50 1.2 to match it with my beloved 135 L on a humble canon rp where I always remain fully satisfied even for dynamic photos .

Pros: Blurred dream, color rendering, quantity and quality of midtones from higher category optics, lightweight to be a 1.2 autofocus.

Cons: For me nothing.

Opinion: It is my favorite lens, and I say this also owning the 35mm f1.4 L I and the 85mm 1.2 L II which are two equally magnificent glasses. I come from the Sigma 50mm Art and the Canon full aperture sharpness apart is superior in every other respect. Sharp enough at 1.2 but with a micro contrast ("3D pop", "zeiss pop", "leica rendering", call it what you like) already so high as to overshadow the sharpness of which the optics is capable, in a portrait head shoulder to 1.2 the pixels seem to disappear in favor of "an infinite detail" in the rendering of tones, difficult to explain, it must be tried. The quality of the blurred is clearly phenomenal, but it is especially the transition from fire to blurred, things just out of focus do not appear out of focus, but as if wrapped in an aura of magical softness. Do not be frightened by those who speak badly because the optics are not made to shoot brick walls or optical sights but the surrounding world. Not only is it sharp enough already at full aperture, but at 1.2 it makes it good even with fire distances around 10 meters, at these distances it does not knead everything as the little brother 1.4 does. If you want a little more sharpness and focus / blur detachment just close at 1.6 or 1.8 without affecting too much the character of the lens, which instead from f2 upwards changes to become much more "correct" and obviously sharp. I personally use it almost always at full aperture, except if I have to shoot groups that touch the edges of the frame (and there f2 honestly is enough) or close up, where I close a little to avoid an excessive "fog" effect. The autofocus is fast and precise, certainly more precise than the Sigma 50mm Art. On my 5D mkIV it did not need any calibration and makes very little mistakes even at full aperture, while on my R6 it is practically never wrong. If I really have to find the negative sides are those typical of ultra bright optics not very correct: a bit of distortion (correctable with a click) and extreme edges never super sharp, but it is a problem only if you take this lens to make only landscape, having said that I also do landscape without any patema of soul, it has colors and a rendering engraved from f2 up that I see only in the other fixed series L. Aberrazioni in conditions of strong contrast there are but to me they do not give boredom, also because you have to know how to shoot and there is no optics that holds if you want to insist on shooting with a light unsuitable for the purpose and delegate everything to the post. I prefer this lens to the 85 because the latter is already too "hard" from 1.2, but they are simply personal preferences, as they are two equally legendary lenses, compared to the 35 L instead the 50 L I find it superior to full aperture on distant subjects (full figure portrait). But in general they are three fixed ones that return a very coherent aesthetic with each other and are perfect to use as a trio. That said, it is an optics that for what it offers is at a very honest price on the used and I do not find it at all heavy even for intense use

Pros: unique optics

Cons: many if you expect a "correct" optics

Opinion: I use it on a FF and it's a fixed lens..... in the sense that I never read it :-) apart from jokes, it is an optics that must be bought for an uncompromising purpose.... that's unique and fantastic bokeh. many defects, TA aberrations, low sharpness TA focus difficulties. said so it looks like a ciofeca, instead it is fantastic.... now I stop to talk about its use at TA.... because if you buy an f1.2 it's because you want to use an f1.2. mainly releases a "soft" file but not too much, for portraits too much sharpness could be more of a problem than an advantage. The blurry is unique, starts well in the center of the frame and then softens more and more as you go to the edge with fantastic colors and shades, forget the sharp blurry between the center and the rest. As mentioned it has defects but that all in all most can be solved with a minimum of pp. sore note, the focus, I honestly do not consider it a problem of optics but you have to deal with the reflex that you use. for a good composition you have to have good moooolto side stitches. with the plant there are no problems.... but, focus, lock and recompose.... with an f1.2 it's not a simple thing and just nothing, a little movement, to go out of focus. the use of the side... a lv composition would be ideal... but if they are not good they often go empty, if you have the possibility to use easel and manual focus it would be great. I use it on the 6d first model and with the side points I struggle.... but it's about making 4 or 5 attempts.... when the good one comes in it's great. it takes patience and time to use it.... it is not an optics that at TA with each shot takes you home the loaf.

Pros: F 1.2 super bright, compact and light, on the ML R has a great AF, wonderful blur, amazing bokeh, high sharpness from F 2.8 up.

Cons: Chromatic aberration from F 1.2 to F 2, astigmatism to TA on nearby subjects.

Opinion: An incredible lens that left me pleasantly amazed by the incredible difference in yield between my initial tests and field tests: from the tests in fact it would seem my worst L series, after using it intensely a week of vacation I can say instead on the contrary that it is my best goal! Let's start with pros: It has an incredible opening from F 1.2 but despite being a super bright it remains quite compact and light (as opposed to many new lenses that look like bricks); I was afraid to buy it in the days of the 6D but on my new R has a very good constant and precise AF (it did not miss even once the eye in eye-af with i-servo) ; the blurring is wonderful, if there are leaves in the background or grass at the bottom nearby becomes almost swirling; in the evening from the best of itself turning insignificant light points into an amazing bokeh! In TA portraits with a 3m subject the sharpness is already good, but it becomes very high from F 2.8 and up (especially for closer subjects). Let's analyze the CONTROS now: photographing in TA a subject very close to the minimum distance of MAF comes out a kind of halo/orton-effect due to a bit of astigmatism: it resolves by closing the diaphragm a little or away a hair; Photographing a subject in strong backlight easily comes out a bit of Chromatic Aberration for very open diaphragms between F 1.2 and F 2 if in the background there is sky (easily solved anyway in PP with a click). CONCLUSIONS: for portraits (set above all) after trying so many professional goals I can say that for my taste it is one of the most beautiful goals I have ever had for character and yield. Its most beautiful peculiarity for a portraitist is also a flaw: it continues to detach the subject from the background even closing the diaphragm. In addition to the portraitists I also recommend it to those who like to photograph in the city in the evening, thanks to its brightness allows shots in the dark with times beyond safety and only 500 iso! It's obviously not for those who need extended PDC or amazing edges.

Pros: Blurred, high transmission ratio, weight content, colors, a beautiful overall rendering.

Cons: Autofocus not up to the modern lenses, really poor sharpness, AC from "point" framework when used at full aperture.

Opinion: The third lens I bought in 2015, which I loved and used for years. It has a very nice yield but it is not the lens to put in the bag if you want a safe result in any situation. I have often had blurry photos due to a low-performing AF, and in some cases it is the lack of sharpness that returns an image still kneaded. I am curious to try it in the future on ML, I hope it will rise to new life. Poor sharpness may not be a problem, partial reliability does. Forget full-opening shots in servo on non-static subjects as you can do for example with the 35mm 1.4 II and the 85mm 1.4 IS. When everything goes right though... You remember why you kept it after all. A lens to come to terms with.

Pros: Colors, bokeh, small size, F1.2

Cons: Don't have it!

Opinion: I always used the 50mm as the main lens, I wanted to buy this mythical lens and I was surprised! At F2.0 it's a scalpel but at F1.2 it does magic. If you get used to it you can no longer close the diaphragm and it becomes a drug! For the portraits set usually shot between F2 and F2.8 with great satisfaction and excellent results, in the close-ups I open everything and thank you for being there! At TA the sharpness is lower, but not such as to be a defect and the pasty rendering of the colors is, say, its signature. Excellent maf and also color rendering, it is a lens to have in your kit.

Pros: Brightness, low weight, overall quality, etc...

Cons: Knowing what you buy and want, no one.

Opinion: I have to say that my initial approach was terrible because, using it at f1.2, I didn't get a fire right. I realized that the lens needed calibration along with the machine body and spent 100 euros at Camera Service, I fell in love with it... pasty and vivid colors as Canon has accustomed us, monstrous blur, given the extremely reduced pdc to TA is still absolutely usable without problems even at f1.2, the weight and size are extremely small for an f1.2 optics, in addition to the extreme versatility of this focal (much higher than the 85 for example) that allows to make yes the portrait set for which it was created, but also close... just get close to the subject! Let's add that it is now used even for less than 900 Euros, for me it is an optics on ff absolutely advisable, but after calibration at specialized center if it suffers with the body front focus/back focus machine...

Pros: What I deserved from this lens.

Cons: Nothing special.

Opinion: I also own the Zeiss Milvus 1.4 of which I am very happy as a surrender (and why not, even as it is built, I find the latest generation Zeiss very beautiful), but age does not give anything and the focus sometimes becomes difficult. I wanted a 50 with the AF. Almost obligatory choice in the Canon house with EF frame this 50 1.2 L. Everything I read in the other reviews is shareable. I do not use it/I will use it for portraits (or at least not for portraits to "humans" ;-)) but I have already seen that it will accompany the brothers of the L series in an excellent way.

Pros: Color yield, blurred progression, small size, tropicalization, construction. Impressive flare resistance. Autofocus perfect and very fast.

Cons: Ta sharpness not in line with today's "fashion" but far more than enough for the portrait set. The same goes for the pronounced AC in TA. It's addictive and makes you want to use it all the time.

Opinion: I can say with certainty that, alone, the 50L is worth the choice of the Canon brand. Let's start with the construction, perfect like all L Canon series. The standard lampshade is wide enough and extremely solid. The weight is really low compared to the new "heavy calibres" of the 50 (and I think of the 50L RF and 50 Art on all). The optical scheme consists of 8 lenses divided into 6 groups, the diaphragm counts 8 slats, the maximum opening is f/1.2 and the minimum opening of f/16, has a slight, really slight barrel distortion, easily corrected in post production. The diameter is 72mm and you can mount screw filters (which I have never done). The absence of a stabilizer is not felt given the enormity of the light entering the 1.2, this lens makes possible candlelight shots to ISO "humans". The vignette at TA is incredibly present and you have my eyes is precious and beautiful but disappears totally .2.8. There is also a strong presence of AC, especially to the most open diaphragms. I love the lenses I own and I bought them after a thousand reflections, precisely for this reason, I also consider the defects and, on fixed L "historic" (50, 85 and 135) I never correct in post production the AC nor, much less, flaggo in LR the box "activate profile corrections" because I certain lenses I have not bought them only for their merits but, also, for their defects and I keep them tight. In other words, the images that return the 50L have such a special yield, starting with the colors, which will be, once a monitor, truly incredible. The progression of blurring is unique, difficult to imagine a 50 that detaches more and in such a particular way not only at full opening but also at more closed diaphragms. What this lens gets is 2.8 you have to see in person, a quality of detachment and the progression of the fire plans really remarkable. Paired with the 1ds3 provides the best that EF Canon production can give to those who, like me, do not like hypernitidety and hypercorrection. Attracted by the future Canon R5 I will migrate sooner or later to ML but never, ever will I sell 50L, 85L and 135L, unique, incredible lenses that I will always carry with me.

Pros: Size-tropicalized-F1.2-optical that returns magical images. colors and sharpness. is addictive. once mounted it's hard to detach it

Cons: Nobody.. it is true at full opening and soft, but just this coupled to the color and the blurred that makes each shot a work of art. If you want a hyper-sharp optics at full-time go Sony.. definitely very sharp but not magical.

Opinion: Optics that I love.. fantastic every shot he pulls out "is really magical. at full opening because of the reduced depth of field it's easy to make mistakes but once it happens it's fantastic. With 5D IV the AF is pretty fast. The color rendering coupled with blurred returns unique fantastic photos. It's going to be a lens I'd never take away. optics that you have to have in the kit.

Pros: bokeh, image quality, L-series

Cons: I haven't seen any

Opinion: I have owned this lens for a few years now and I find it really exceptional. Before buying it maybe I was a bit reluctant but once I did a first test at the store it was love at first sight. Fantastic for portraits, also used at full opening has a fast and accurate autofocus (i use it together with 5dmark3) and gives a beautiful blur. It won't be the sharpest lens in the world if we use it at f1.2 but it returns a very good level of detail in my opinion. The use mainly for portrait but also for landscape gave joys, after all from f2.8 onwards the lens becomes very sharp. In recent years I have gone to Venice to portray the carnival masks and the lens has performed excellently in all light conditions, even in the early morning when it was almost dark he churned out very good photos and never betrayed them. Perhaps at full openness in the backlight suffers a bit of chromatic aberration that tends to notice but as I see it no one is perfect and the positive things far outweigh this little mole. I bought it used at a price in my opinion very good, about 900, and I consider them really well spent, if you like the genre portrayed rely on this lens and you will be happy with it.

avatarjunior
sent on July 10, 2019

Pros: Excellent construction, "magical" effect in the right conditions of use, reliable focus.

Cons: Embarrassing chromatic aberrations with wide openings. Expensive

Opinion: Particular lens, it has a rather grumpy character... Many say it is hardly tame. In my opinion it should be used in very precise conditions to give the best, otherwise, it basically disappoints, or at least does not make for what it costs. I bought it to use it at full opening on 5d MK4, otherwise I would have taken more, saving nice money. In the right conditions it actually gives the magical effect for which it is famous but, autofocus aside, nothing more than glorious vintage lenses (Super Takumar on all). The look of the images is always very "analog", perhaps also because it is not a hypercorrect and optically "perfect" lens like the most modern ones. Very soft at full open, but it's not a fact due to the depth of field... it's just all soft. Closing to f4 everything is fine, but at that point everyone is capable, or almost. What bothers me most about this lens is the exaggerated chromatic aberration up to f2.8 for the backlight subjects; to correct it, the edges of the subjects are affected. With diaphragms closed, the images have a great contrast and detail. The autofocus is very honest, reasonably fast but above all accurate. Love, for the moment, has not sprung.

avatarsenior
sent on June 20, 2019

Pros: Many.

Cons: Needless to hide them just for love.

Opinion: The lens is not difficult to describe because what is written about him is not all but so much truth. Definitely not as sharp and correct as the other 50 but it has so much more than others do not have. First of all the colors, really something that fascinates along with the "crazy" deadlift if you shoot at full opening. And then the focus, even if a little lazy, does not fail the shot if you know how to aim. In short, from 1.2 to 2.8, thanks to the af system of the reflex, you have to learn to manage it and it does not disappoint you, but it is not so difficult and impossible to tame it. Without having it and reading only a few reviews, perhaps there remains the fear of buying a rip-off, but it is not the truth.

Pros: Color rendition, aperture, blurred, construction, AF fast and accurate.

Cons: Not very sharp at full aperture, some chromatic aberration. Expensive.

Opinion: I purchased this 50l for the three-dimensionality, the color rendition and the unique fuzzy that returns, the photos look like paintings, for artistic shots is phenomenal. Present some chromatic aberration, vignette a little but are characteristics of this lens, I personally like these "flaws". If you look for absolute sharpness at TA, the market is better (but just close a bit and is a blade). The construction is excellent, to the touch you perceive that the lens is solid, does not imgombra and does not weigh much. Versatile lens, autofocus is fast and precise, never wrong, manual focus is pleasant even if it requires a bit of practice because especially at large openings is easy to err. The price to have it may seem high but after months of use I can say I'm happy, has an unmistakable imprint, I will not separate easily.

Pros: Colors, quality of materials, quality and progression of the blurred.

Cons: The weight, but a lot of glass weighs.

Opinion: I could copy and paste what I wrote for 85 f1.2: what for many is considered a defect of optics, for me it is a value that characterizes it. I'm not looking for absolute clarity, so I do not dwell on which of the 50 I've owned is more or less clear, I do not care. I like how this lens reproduces warm colors and rich nuances.rnAutofocus is fast, even in low light conditions especially with class 5 cameras, while it is slightly slower with the 6 series: with the 5D3 the focus is more precise and fast and in dynamic situations is less hesitant than when I use it on 6D.rnWhen working almost always in low light conditions, with minimum ISO values ??of 6400-12.800, this lens guarantees quality results in terms of operating speed , precision of operation and beauty of contrasts.

Pros: It is an extremely bright fixed optic that completes the pair with 24-70

Cons: Smashed edges if used for landscapes

Opinion: The 50L is a unique lens, very special but not suitable for everyone. It is exceptional for those who understand it, allows you to have the focus of a 135mm with a 50mm so you can make beautiful portraits even indoors and with little space. Together with the 24-70 form the perfect couple for events and weddings, they have in common the color rendering and the progression of the blurred making omega the yield between the photos. The trio is completed with the 135L ensuring total coverage for any occasion

Cons: Not having it in stock

Opinion: Great lens, floor clearing is great and has no equal. Pros: Super sharpness. Fantastic Bokeh. AF lightning. Fantastic colors and poetic set.

Cons: Nobody.

Opinion: It's a great lens. Very sharp even at TA. Never experienced any problems in this regard. His bokeh has no equal. It's pure poetry. The chromatic rendering is superb. It works well in any light condition and not just for portrait. An absolutely lightning strike makes it very versatile. In my opinion, it is not just about working on 1.2. It is also superb closing. In short, it can not be argued and the files that make me confirm it every time. A 1.2 manages to interpret reality as only he can do. RnCerto is not economical but all the rest that is in production does not reach its magic. Lens to be absolutely.

Pros: Defocused, manageable, constructive, three-dimensional

Cons: It is expensive

Opinion: I bought this lens after holding the Sigma art focal point for a year and a half.rnI always read the magic, the dimensionality of the blur and the difficulty of using it properly.rnI am well pleased with the choice made, with the sigma never snapped The right feeling above the size and the weight.rnWith the 50 1.2 it's true the first snapshots stay a bit interrupted, it takes time and patience. Often you make mistakes but on occasions where you are "lucky" Then it repays you with really magic shots. It is not free from easy fixable defects, excellent sharpness (albeit with absolute interest), no-frills speed, and it's a pleasure to focus even manually.rn

Pros: Blurred, three-dimensional, construction, brightness, focus, colors, .... everything

Cons: Adds dependence

Opinion: After reading a lot of reviews and reviews I bought it used by a forum user. What if you do not "love the first photo". As soon as it gets in hand it gives a feeling of robustness and precision very good, the focus is quick, precise and determined, the colors are beautiful full, vivid at the right point (to my liking), the blurry sublime returns a feeling Pictorial, and f1.2 is just as clear! If you buy it for sharpness at large apertures there are more appealing alternatives (sigma?), Much sticker to 1.2 (I adore it!) But after fine calibration in the room, it gives you images that make you forget these little bumps . Perfect for portraits set to full-length and for playing with colors and blurry. The only real flaw is the addiction that creates ...... it's hard to detach it from the camera. My vote can not be that 10 with praise !!

Opinion: Optical amazing that can give strong emotions, both good and bad ..... I confirm what I had read about. Not easy to tame but when we succeed his imprint is unmistakable. Opinion: Colors, excellent sharpness and focus. The detachment of the plans is remarkable. It offers a blurred and a truly unique deadlift and you buy it especially for this. In my view, the objective in question is to be used mainly for the human figure (environmental portrait, etc.) And large openings. I recommend it to anyone looking for these features. Pros: Three-dimensionality, blurry, magic

Cons: Fast and precise autofocus, price

Opinion: Almost convinced to buy the Nikkor AF-S 58mm1.4, this lens has been for me a dilemma for a long time, so that eventually I gave in and attached to the kit Nikon Canon kit just to be able to own ... and after that the first two months I spent in cursing them. When I accepted his faults, frustrating at times, speed and precision AF, especially flanked to my 6D whose evil is coupled from this point of view, love blossomed. It is not a monster of sharpness and TA is a bit 'soft considering its price, but the overall detail is good if the scope of use, then in my opinion the only one for him, is the picture set, otherwise there better at much lower costs. Beyond the blurred, always very pleasant but in some cases a little ' "confused" and "nervous" especially when there are objects "repetitive", such as leaves, grass, etc. not far from the fire floor, colore magnificent and I find it very "artistic" even pushed against the light, pulling out all his magic and personality are not limited as other lenses to a general loss of contrast and detail, as long as we know how to manage unwanted reflections of certain angles. If he had a metal barrel instead of plastic, it would be better, so I leave a reservation on the quality of construction, it is also generally pleasant, perhaps tones too hot hair that require more work in post in the correction when shooting indoors under artificial lights , but it is my personal impression and, above all, my fault having no desire to make the pre-snap white balance. A must for the environmental portrait, although too expensive

Opinion: The 50mm is the lens for me the main use in virtually any situation is always mounted on one of my two rooms, and this view is the best I have ever experienced, the main difference from Canon versions 1.8 and 1.4 is the focus , much more precise on 50mm is a view that never misses a shot, logically over sharpness, color rendering and quality construction. Opinion: If you like the pictures or photos ambientati style reportage and street, for which you need a lens manegevole and fast, here it is the 50 f1.2 optics for you, clearly if mounted on immense body FF.rnQualità to all the openings, do not personally the shot never up to f1.2 unless there is a real need for light, but also in this case the lens behaves in admirable fashion without showing any defect. Going from f1.2 to f1.8 - f2 image quality clearly increases a little ', but the difference is really lieve.rnSu 5D MIII, which bears great high ISO without returning an annoying noise, and shooting at f1.2 ISO 1600 is pretty much more light "day" on a person's face with the light of a candle in a dark room! rnrnLente manegevole compact and with the right weight on the one hand returns precisely feeling of strength, on the other It provides the right balance to the body macchina.rnAutofocus fast (I use almost exclusively the focus spot and of 5D MIII is virtually instantaneously). No stabilizer but absolutely do not feel the need, I do not remember it a shake-out of a picture taken with this lente.rnInsieme all'85mm f1.2 L lens is the brightest by Canon, given that I do not see imaginable dating a "cartridge belt" of objectives, rather all'85mm because the scope of use is more ampio.rnMolti wonder if there is difference of approximately 1000 euro with the younger brother 50mm f1.4, the answer is: it depends on what we expect from their photo. If there are "satisfied" of a good quality then the 50 f1.4 is certainly good, if you want the leap then go to 50 f1.2 is necessario.rnLa difference also highlights firmly in extreme conditions, for as a backlight driven to TA with 50 f1.2 still returns of well-defined contours of the figure and "sharp" with aberrations in control, something different with the 50 f1.4 wherethe contours are noticeably pastosi.rnA I think the lens "normal" is a view that should not be missing in the bag of a photographer (although need for capacity and experience for its use), and from this point of view Canon beyond his concorrenti.rnLente that holds very well the price of used also, and this is an aspect that should be taken into consideration when purchasing.

Pros: Opening, color, three-dimensional, construction, yield of blurred as regards the areas of focus, comfortable size. You will ALSO very well ..

Cons: Poor efficacy with lateral 6D, requires a precision and high concentration. You will ALSO very bad ..

Opinion: The sharpness is not in the top 1.2 (far better to f2) but not for what you take, there is something more. The three-dimensional, clean images (Gabola solves many of the skin without the use of Photoshop) and character maybe a little 'Vintage because of AC (sometimes very strong) ... But not good for work, maybe you most indicated an ART. It is a great traveling companion, but need to know that on 10 shots only a few will be good to save or print, because it is very complicated stage focus. I'm sure on a system as 5D3 or 1DX behave much better like that with my 6D, separate center. RNE 'a perspective from which it is very difficult to break away. Unique sensations when aiming and shooting. Sensations very different from the 135L, the pairing is successful, each creates a different atmosphere and a yield.

Opinion: I purchased it for about a month and is perhaps the most difficult task that I have .. you can just make a small movement with his hand and the photo is out of focus at TA .. but as you become more familiar with this lens you He realizes all its magic! rnCerto the price is challenging for a 50mm, but I can tell you that since I got I have not removed from the machine!

Pros: Blurred (the best of canon in my opinion), Construction Tropicalized, Yield on tonal transitions, impressive even in ex-f4 f8 etc ... (it is also his "defect"), nice vignette, vintage made for about aberrations

Cons: It takes a while to acquire the hand "stops" that does not face the slip plane of focus that is smaller than that of a "normal" 50mm even at small apertures due to the abrupt transition between the area in focus and out of focus, always detaches also when you close the diaphragm, some aberration but is a minor flaw ...

Opinion: Used with satisfaction on 5dm3 for almost two years, a great yield for the environmental portrait, blurred scream, good-excellent sharpness, accuracy af in the servant (better take so with this in mind), made beautiful skin on the girls (in this case a super clear lens does not help), if the environmental portrait is your field, I can only recommend it, I've used the always paired with the 135mm f2. Sold by just requiring a 50mm closed me increases the depth of field for good and light have always below (choosing home canon: 50 1.8 STM), maintaining kit very few lenti.rnrnLo advice! Cons: AF points side

Opinion: Lens wonderful, my favorite kit, difficult to use in TA but allows incredible effects, the background blends in a fog from which you can make "going out" the subject, closing at F2 becomes "sharp", lost in reliability on AF points side in low light, but to use that I do not care that much ;-))) absolutely recommend it! along with the 135 F2 are permanently attached to camera bodies!

Opinion: I bought it a few months ago after long wishing for it. It costs a lot for my pockets. The fetishistic satisfaction of owning it was enormous. I use it on the 5D Mk II using it almost always with the central focus point, recomposing, and very often at full opening to learn how to handle it well. He's great, he's got magic of his own. Pros: Blurred unrivaled speed AF good for the kind of lens, built by L series

Cons: Some problems with the accuracy of AF.

Opinion: Excellent lens, outstanding performance, very clear to 1.2 in the central area of ??the frame. The AF is great considering it is a superluminosa lens with auto-focus then you kiss your elbows. The only slight problem is that even on 5dmarkIII the precision AF is only perfect with the central points, as they move their points of focus towards the outside loses precision thus forcing to close the iris also to 3.2 or 4 to have the area in focus. In 1.2 you can use the focus and then recompose only if the subject is a bit 'in there otherwise flab. Lens difficult to use, as well as 85L, but it is a love.

Pros: Blurred, building, light, three-dimensional, color schemes.

Cons: Imprecision AF TA on the outer side (especially in low light), not excellent sharpness in TA.

Opinion: And 'the most controversial of the list Canon lens, surely because of his "character" that allows only two states of mind as a result of its use: either you love it or you hate it; there is in fact who hosannas considering a fetish and who slaughters on the altar of sharpness. I belong to the first group of users, and I can only settle the amazing quality of this 50mm.rnCostruzione classic L series, a chance to play with the pdc thanks to f / 1.2, three-dimensional frightening and fabulous colors are just a few of the infinite merits of 50one Canon's mother, but I think more importantly the quality and type of blur that this perspective can give and I'm not afraid to define ONIRICO, MAGICO.rnSe the price to pay for it is a modest amount of shots and trashed at TA a sharpness not from macro to the widest apertures are happy to have to endure these venial sins and, if you know how to use well (is not easy), allows scattthe unique, imbued with the "Leica mode" that makes cry to the "magic". RNA my opinion to the best of the environmental portrait but, for those who like this focus for the report, there will be lavish ricompense.rnCanon will build the 50mm 1.2L II-III-IV-V-etc, but if you do not have this I will not yield any return.

Pros: colors, fast and silent AF, three-dimensional image bokeh

Cons: TA is reliable only with the cross-type points

Opinion: I bought this lens after reading and re-read everything you can find on the net; what perplexed me was reading about the unreliability of the AF TA.rnIn in fact, the first impact was not much; I tried it in portraiture and the only way to get sharp photos in 1.2 was to reconcile with the central ... with all the other points, the MAF was a stroke of lotto.rnCosì I brought 5DIII and 50one to room service for the calibration of any single point of focus. Now I can finally say it's worth all the money spent and I think is the best 50mm out there ... PROVIDED THAT YOU USE IT WITH A POINT MAF CROCE.rnLo blur is really nice; 1.2 clearly one can not ask for clarity exasperated ... but who buys a lens like it does for other reasons such as its bokeh and the feeling you get by clicking (hard to describe) .rnLo detachment of the plans is spectacular as the tridimensionalità.rnA TA vignetting you see all right but for portraits & egrave; an effect that I do not mind at all ... but ... if there is not often I add it in post.rnSe you can buy it!

Pros: Construction, color, focus, three-dimensional image

Cons: Apart from the price, a little too soft to TA

Opinion: I state that I am a fetishist of the optics so, having had various 50 (1.4 Canon, Sigma EX 1.4, 1.4 sigma art series), I decided to try to see the performance. 50 is the lens I use the most in assoluto.rnAlla I finally gave up and I'm loving it:) rnOttica exceptional for the type of photography that belongs to me (portrait and fashion), beautiful colors, beautiful rendering of the complexion, focus fast and accurate, three-dimensional. It is not a "blade" as is Sigma 50 f Article 1.4 series, but I took it on purpose because the softer and made especially the blurred, allow me to have images more easily lavorabili.rnE 'perspective that balance well with the machine body, very robust but not pesante.rnA f2 sharpness, taking account of course of the opening is very good, since f4 becomes outstanding. A f 1.2 and F1.4 not be expected clarity as that of the sigma art: if you shoot a full length and you go tolook eye enlarged to 100% is not fully defined, so if you are looking for a view "blade" typically digital, look elsewhere. But once "tamed" is a view with a smoothness and plasticity which is impossible to find in other lenti.rnCome it said by some, suffers from chromatic aberration, but is easily removed with a simple adjustment in ps.rnEccezionale also on film !! !! rnDetto this, I finally have found the right 50 and hardly I separerò.rn

Pros: Blurred unique, brightness, focus, sharpness, weather sealed, built for me .... and also the focal!

Cons: Price and .... I do not have it!

Opinion: I have this lens 6 months and I feel I've let my first impressions are so excited! Really agree with what is written in the previous reviews that the only cons is not having it! RnL'ho bought it as a personal gift for the arrival of my daughter; I came more than four years of 50mm f1.8 (used both on aps-c that on FF) and after trying to fine the 50mm f1.4 in a workshop.rnChe say? I have read and studied everything on this objective by turning on the internet. Heard assessments and adventures / misadventures of all kinds, made every type of evaluation and then I threw up. I love the 50mm focal length on FF, and based on the logic (very personal) that it is better to take a few good goals but I evaluated to stake everything on a fixed quality (albeit expensive) but that I liked, rather than have three of medium quality .rnInizio by trying to answer the question on everyone's mind when assessing this lens or whether it is worth spending four times more than the f1.4 version or even twelve times more respect to the f1.8 version. For my personal assessment, yes, indeed. Let me explain my reasoning: the 50mm f1.8 I always found sufficiently clear, even at full aperture and with a blurred acceptable but the AF, especially on aps-c left a lot to be desired and it was still slow; with 50mm f1.4 USM I found the (very important and real big difference with the younger brother) and always a good yield at wide apertures, but the images in the TA found little contrast and slightly veiled while the bokeh was more agreeable with brother f1.8 aperture; the 50mm f1.2 instead is great at room temperature (not a pixel-peeper, absolutely, but it is as clear as the other lenses I have, if not more) and close more and more better, keeping intact a beautiful chromaticity and loyalty colors as well as a bokeh unico.rnNon agree then who says that is a lens that has meaning only when used in TA? .assolutamente, if you take it is to have not only the third stop in the most but also for the surrender of large apertures (f2.8 fromand over) and for maintaining a unique style for each color and bokeh diaframma.rnCapitolo AF: I use it on the 5D, so its not a thunderbolt of war and incredible ... well with the side! Honestly I did not notice a deterioration in the functioning of the AF TA compared to younger siblings?'d Say it's equal, if not better, the 50mm f1.4 used both at RT. It also works with the side, well, if it does not hook because he would not do even with other versions in my opinion. It helps a lot to use the flash with infrared .... there is really hard're wrong focus. From my brief experience though, if you fail a shot most of the time it is due to the difficulty of managing a shallow depth of field. With this lens is very important to manage the distance from the subject to have the face or both eyes in focus ... is the lens for portraits prince ambientati.rnAggiungo also a lens that is weather sealed, heavy right and well built, as well as well salable on the market. Onlla sharpness I can say that it is not like the 135L f2 but more like the 70-200 F4L for me .... absolutely valida.rnRiassumendo, if you like the 50mm focal length is a lens not to be missed because it offers really unique shots and that you do not can be achieved with the younger siblings. Spending has also more than makes sense if we look for a fixed lens quality that can also serve as a handyman and can give us the shots that stand out ... if your budget does not allow it or if the focal length we like but we already meets the version F1.4 fall for on your feet with this latest version that is worth far more than it costs.

Pros: It 'a lens with exceptional characteristics. At f1.2 has a rendition of "poetic" (with this is to say that donates one blurred and unparalleled contrast - in the area in focus - that does not weigh down the photo). If you diaphragm (from f3.2/5.6) there is a three-dimensional image to be delighted.

Cons: The only counter that can move is the price (if taken in Italy following the Italian channels). Otherwise has no cons.

Opinion: I have this lens for about seven months before writing my impression I wanted to wait a while 'to understand it. In fact, for those coming from the zoom (24-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8) to switch to a fixed may be initially painful, it should read in the need to build the frame because of the focus and not the possibility to use the zoom to build it (more easily). rnEbbene, after having taken his hand, I can confirm all the positive aspects that you read about and, for negative I can refute those seguito.rnIl Bokeh lens is one that offers the of the best (along with 85 f1.2 that surpasses it for the obvious reasons why a lens with a longer focal length royal fuzzy greater at full aperture). rnPer weight and bulk I just say: you had a neck 24-70 f2 .8 L? In relation to the weight of this lens (which use for obvious reasons), and the machine body (5D MkIII) the cinquantino irrisorio.rnPer is the "softness" to the entire opening or the difficulty of focus, same as for the tempor need to familiarize yourself with the lente.rnDa last say, with an example, that Ferrari is an excellent machine, but those looking for what Ferrari did not deem it did not live up to what is required! rnCiaorn

Opinion: It 'a lens very interesting, you can buy for use primarily in TA and play with lights, floors and the environment that surrounds the lens and the photographer. Like all optical extremes is not the immediate feeling, many photos are blurred given the openness of 1.2, but with practice you get very personal and unique pictures. With this in mind than shooting situations are created, you can create a atmosphere that you can hardly describe. It is not an optical absolute detail, this is not trying to split in two the hair, this light will, and I think it succeeds well if you know how to use, proiettarti in the picture as a whole, in its atmosphere, in its entirety perhaps highlighting anything in particular, but everything in his engaging together. Also possess the Canon 50 1.4, and if under the optical appearance by stopping the results seem similar, they are "animals" different. The focus is particular dream I would say, especially wide open, and in the end I made this purchase for its use in these conditions. Anyone looking for a bright 50 to use on the road or street can in my opinion be on version 1.4, but those who seek the very characteristics for which it was built, budget permitting, is not to be missed. Always shooting in raw, and developing the files with DPP using "digital optimization goal," the results that I see make me forget the cost of this glass.

Pros: Bokeh, three-dimensional, plasticity, tonal richness, construction

Cons: Sharpness outlying areas to greater openness, weight and size, curvature of field

Opinion: A lens with a strong personality. Anyone looking for a razor and a view to playing those planes and geometric savings over a thousand euro and buy the macro f 50/2, 5. Those who want to create images in natural light with a strong three-dimensional and rich tonal transitions and for the richness of colors, at home, Canon can not find anything better. At full aperture the sharpness is acceptable only in a small central area, drops dramatically in peripheral areas: in some areas it is completely acceptable and normal, in others not, but we would be out of the design requirements of a lens as well. Already a stop closure (f: 1.8) yield is impeccable and far superior to that of the two 50mm less bright. By f: 3.5 on the micro-rears even in very remote areas, and are not the most obvious effects of spherical aberration and field curvature. An additional benefit of this is that the pleasantness of the blurred remains still high even at diaframmature more generous merit at all unusual and it definitely separates - for the better - the other two 50mm to list (I do not consider the 50 macro because it has - logically and coherently - a project, say, diametrically opposed to 50/1, 2 L).
