Pros: Constructive quality, burst, speed (1/8000), ergonomics, low price of used, RAW very good.

Cons: Annoying noise after 800 ISO, high weight with L optics and battery grip, live view almost useless.

Opinion: I was looking for a DSLR to start "getting serious" and by chance I found a 40D at a very low price (100 euros). I fell in love with it as soon as I got familiar with the controls. Solid, handy, if in good hands does not regret newer sensors. Ample opportunity to customize its functions, combined with decent optics works very well, and with its burst of 6 fps can still say its even for photo hunting. Used for macro photos, the not-so-great live view is also useful, the zoom function of which helps for focus stacking, while for use in action it is practically useless. With the live view active, the battery life drops a lot. VERY workable RAW files, as long as you don't overdo the crop and don't go to very high ISO. In short, it is a machine largely sufficient for the neophyte and for the evolved amateur, despite age, yet another planet compared to the entry levels as series 1300D, 500D, 400D. The fact that there is automatic sensor cleaning is not to be overlooked.

Pros: Robustness, image quality (it's 12 years old), battery life, with good lenses and good light still noteworthy results

Cons: high iso

Opinion: Every now and then I see it and I still take it in my hand, then I mount a lens and I am amazed by the quality of the image and the pleasant colors it still offers. I'm fond of it, I thought I'd sell it, but when I saw the laughable value I said NO! With good optics and holding iso "low" the images it offers are still very good. He's only 10mpx and for his age it's a big virtue.

Pros: Keep in mind that it is a 2007 DSLR, time passes for everyone, however very valid machine

Cons: No one considered came out on the market 13 years ago

Opinion: My first DSLR; Great. I sold it to buy a Canon 7D but I wish I still had it. It performed well with the original lens with both Tamron and Sigma optics. Very valid colors and depth of field as of the rest of use for Canon . With a 17/50 mm f 2.8 I took many photos on the Riviera in the dark and at night very pleasant even today.

Pros: Robustness, elegance, battery life, honest price in the used, RAW file quality, all-rounder camera, 3.0' LCD screen.

Cons: Time passes for her too (it's from 2007), and such a camera, nowadays, would have many limitations. But, if used well, he still has a lot to give. We continue to trust her, because I still have a lot of satisfaction using her.

Opinion: It's a camera that still give me a lot of satisfaction. It's the camera I prefer when I photograph at the Venice carnival and when I pick up butterflies. If we combine it with an L-series optic scan like the Canon EF L IS USM 24-105 f/4 or a canvas like the Canon EF L IS USM 70-200 f/4, there is no history: it can compare even with cameras younger than her. I invite you not to keep it and not to sell it because, even if it is a "grandmother", she still knows what she is doing because she has an iron soul!!!

Pros: Robust and all-rounder. And Nowadays (2017) definitely the bargain price, for those approaching the world SLR think it's a smart choice.

Cons: It is now almost ancient and "Against" there are, but you have to consider it a nice granny ...

Opinion: This old lady accompanied me for many years and now I am going to pensionarla I decided to write some praise ... RNLA robustness makes sure an excellent companion for the trip, certainly not tropical conditions but just knowing it and store it in conseguenza.rnIn well if the flow in relative safety from countries know where to turn out if you happen some disavventura.rnNel meantime I also had a 5D mkII, definitely much better in the quality of the file, but in the end I re-exchanged with my nephew saw he does much better landscapes of my while I preferred a volley a bit 'faster and above the 1.6 factor that was missing in FF.rnQuindi, even today, as mentioned in "Pro", to approach the reflex would be to certainly a smarter choice that some low-cost ciofeche with plasticotto abbinato.rnSe I found several used at very attractive prices.

Pros: Falls well in manornFacilità of utilizzornQualità files in RAW + JPEG excellent

Cons: RnPosizione weight of the power button / spegnimentorn

Opinion: 339; age who has on his shoulders. I have joined to my beloved Pentax Kr that now I use only (and not always) at night as it has a screen (unlike the 40D and night in a live view is absolutely unusable) deserve to be called such, very much detailed and bright and with a graduated grid to adjust well with the horizon plane. The Canon 40D is truly a remarkable camera, that despite the years that he is far more valid and usable for many of today's cameras that can be ridiculous and unnecessary (considered their prices). I have a Sigma 10-20 f3.5 for panoramic (practically only this use), and a Sigma 70-200mm f / 2.8 EX DG OS HSM for details that gives beautiful emotions, nothing to envy to the harrier Canon f2.8 .

Pros: build quality, color representation, dynamic range, burst (JPEG), quality / affordable price

Cons: the focusing system Live View, battery life

Opinion: We are talking about a so-called "semi-professional" SLR, that is a digital machine which, on the one hand, can be seen as second body for a professional photographer (reportage, but also photos of weddings and photo studio), while the other allows fans demanding a quantum leap compared to the "entry level" to get something meglio.rnIl SLR camera body provides adequate protection against dust and sprays (although not tropical conditions) and also the cover for the slot access memory is well sealed; size and weight of the body are contained, the handle is comfortable and the SLR perfectly balanced. Despite the registry age, offers three put glasses of "only" 10 megapixel CMOS sensor fire intercambiabili.rnIl may seem inadequate by today's average standards, but are much more important fidelity in color representation and / or the ability & #8220; pierce "the shadows, showing the details and well represents the highlights. rnFino 800 ISO the response of the camera is excellent, both in terms of resolution and color than on the always thorny, of the disorder, with an amazing range dinamico.rnIl autofocus system does its job without infamy and without praise (remember that it is an old technology over ten years) and, provided you have a "fast" memory card, the burst working quietly at a rate of up to 6.5 frames per second, almost without limits using JPEG files but with a limit of about 15 images in sequence before the memory buffer appears clogged shooting in RAW.rnUnica real flaw mode, the use of Live View system: beyond the "black out" caused by the movement of the mirror using the autofocus system, with manual focus can instead take advantage of the adjustment "end" (magnification up to 10x) on any area of ??the screen. The mode & agrave; Live View operation always involves a rapid depletion of the battery (autonomy is reduced to about a quarter), making the purchase of Battery Grip dedicated almost mandatory (which I highly recommend) .rnIn conclusion, I consider the EOS 40D SLR semi professional high quality despite the long length of service, especially for the price, really interesting, allowing you to take home a lot more than what you could let guess the corresponding expenditure: does not mislead the lack of "frills" such as wi-fi, GPS, or touch-screen, totally unnecessary (if useless) for the execution of shots qualità.rn

Pros: - High Construction livellorn- Buffer and Burst notevolirn- AF Efficentern- Raw File workable particularly nitidezzarn- Shock and constant work rn- has 9 years but still has its say

Cons: - Low-Screen Menu risoluzionern- a little graphic osticorn- Range Dinamicarnrn

Opinion: The Canon EOS 40D is a machine that dates back to 2007 with 'just' 10 megapixels, which in reality are not a limit, because it allows you to print without problems even in A3, to compose in a better way, and to have lighter files, suitable to those who have pc very potenti.rnOnestamente I listed defects above, the comparison because it is done, and it is fair with most modern car bodies, although now it never is from 150/200 Euros, or with a little more with Battery Grip original, batteries etc. which it is an advantage and a very pro rilevante.rnLa advice to those who need a second body in high gust machine, or who want to have a Semi-Pro body to start to get serio.rn

Pros: Building, colors, high burst, used very affordable cost

Cons: nightmarish ergonomics, power key that deserves the oscar the worst position in the history of the SLR, high noise already from 800 ISO, dynamic range pathetic as almost all Canon. rear display absolutely unusable.

Opinion: 2Cma age is what it is ... Dynamic range is pathetic, as in many Canon also professional and serious attention is paid to exhibit well, basically the meter underexpose by about 1/3 EV, flash underexpose at least two diaphragms, the rear display is so bad that you can not tell if a photo is in focus or no.Per luck then, viewing the PC you realize that most of the photos are on fire! Only recommended Canonists hardcore, I love that kind of colors and they can only spend 150-200 euro. Sconsigliatissima to the rest of the world, primarily to people like me, comes from the universe Nikon.

Pros: Ergonomics, construction, price, burst.

Cons: at that price, and considering the age .. nobody.

Opinion: The reviews here have led me to purchase and I found them all very useful. Reviewing the Canon 40d is not easy, from her age: I have often used the most modern machines and the difference (I speak only of the sensors) can be seen. For everything else it is still relevant and has everything you need to learn to take pictures. To then see the beautiful pictures below, it would say that the 40d allows to obtain excellent results (in short, in the end depends on who uses it). We start with the pros: ergonomics, excellent! I chose it because of it. For my large hands this Canon is perfect. I use it often without the neck strap, the machine holds up well and a lot of confidence and security. Once on the familiar with the controls, you can easily reach. It is not by chance that Canon has that same design even on the most professional bodies. Same positive impressions for the construction, very solid, is not afraid to mistreat a bit '. Another pro is the barrage, amazing. rnPrezzo: today is less than 200 Euros. Thereworth? It depends. Considering the age and technological limitations (Iso noise more than anything else) should perhaps spend a little 'more and try something more modern. then the sensor speaking: 10 mpx are sufficientissimi if you think to photograph and nothing else, is trouble-free printing 30 x 45, larger sizes have not tried. still talking about the sensor: the era rival (the d80) has a better sensor (the CCD was from another planet in my opinion, regret my nikon d60 only and exclusively for that) to dynamic and color range. Here, if I had not used the CCD which mounted the Nikon at that time, maybe I would not be talking about the only flaw that has this Canon in my opinion. He had that sensor, would be the perfect aps. The sensor 40d has a smaller dynamic range and light and shadow recovery working on B does not satisfy me. For the noise, I refer you to the previous reviews, I rarely push above 800 ISO, already in effect over the noise increases fastidiosamente.L'AWB is inaccurate, soprattutto indoors with artificial light, and sometimes I find it hard to adjust the white balance in pp (this already but I was confident I had read here). I have never tried to set it in person before shooting, the operation seems counterintuitive. The Jpeg in daylight sounds great. For Af not know, also it depends on the goals. Ultimately I rnih recommend it only to those who have a limited budget (you buy at the price of a compact mid-range) and want to learn to photograph seriously relying now to a semi-pro body and thinking (and saving) to a possible upgrade. With the availability of more eurini recommend also assessing other machines, and read well pretty well the various reviews here on Juza, always excellent. In conclusion: the 40d is the best digital SLR that is, to date, in the price range 150-200 euro. If we start with no kit and not being fanatical brand, plus something maybe you could replace with a 50d, a d200, or even a d300. Edit: after months I feel I have to commend thefeeling that is created with this body and its excellent ergonomics.

Pros: Robust, ergonomic, eternal battery, excellent image quality, good workable files and lightweight: a real pro.

Cons: ISO tall, display resolution.

Opinion: Re-edited my review in April 2017 to reiterate that this is the most underrated camera in the used market. Sturdy as a rock, it offers professional chamber features and performance that come very close to the 5D MkI (but sells for more than twice), if not better in some cases, such as burst and AF. I specify that I have owned both. The picture quality is excellent up to ISO 1000; "counter" (the only really relevant is the display, however, equal to that of the 5D) are absolutely minimal and negligible impact on photographic satisfaction, not least because you can easily bring home a perfect condition to the ridiculous figure of 150 euro. Combined with a 17-55 f / 2.8 or a fixed return superbright you beautiful photos and easy to handle and store. What do you expect ??? Buy at!

Pros: Handle, settings (shutter, ISO, etc ...), menus, intuitive.

Cons: Objectively, when nothing (I have yet to try it for good).

Opinion: My can not yet be considered a real opinion because I started to try oggi.rnHo took this camera used and the reason why I got it I think it might be of interest to those who, like me, use only target dates and the "only" control manuale.rnHo decided to risk it and take it as the very low price (considering a possible intervention in assistance), because reading numerous interventions on many forums, it was indicated and indicates Err 01 as due (in addition to the likely dirt on the contacts of the camera and lens), also and above all to a lack of communication between the camera and lens, due to the nature of the latter: it brings with lens with autofocus and what he had come further doubt Having consegue.rnMi It was told that even with a goal which had been disabled Autofocus, 40d reproduced the same errore.rnComunque today I immediately tested with 3 different targets (all fixed): one Yashica 50 Ml f2, one Yashica 135 Ml f2. 8 and a Pentacon 500 f5.6 (tested at different apertures) .rnDunque, the error did not occur, but instead it is presented another, the typical Err 99, but here comes the interesting point (at least up to this time, unless you have other surprises): replacing several batteries, cf card and goals (always without chip and full manual control) the Err 99 recurred, but guess when (I tried just now to take away the doubt, then maybe recurs in another way, or without activating the function I am going to "reveal", but in the meantime seems to be the problem, attention, has produced two different errors, the person who sold it to me using Err 01 goals with autofocus; me Err 99)? rnNel when I take a picture using the flash interno.rnAll'inizio I had taken pictures 3/4 with that flash, but I noticed (in the reproduction on the display) points reproducing portions of the picture , pulsing steadily in shades of black (effect that this discMpare if increase of one unit magnification playing), but later the Err 99 has come back after just one use of the flash, that the second round of shooting does not work, you hear the typical noise of the mirror and after a few second (display the word busy in the viewfinder), the display then this errore.rnCon all three goals, several openings, setting different shutter speed, if (at least so far) do not open the flash the camera works without apparent problemi.rnAggiungo that the person who sold it to me (I had had a doubt reading as part of it was, however, always with the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise, if the assistance was to advise him to replace that card even to think the worst, there was a reason, and in fact seems to be), was made an estimate of about € 250 a year ago, for Eom flash board, whose name I had made him doubt that, if dissolved today after checking malfunction of built-in flash, itraise others about the connection between this card and the Err 01 he found while examining with those obiettivi.rnQuesta is the card I mentioned, there is also the 70 euro: rnhttp: //m.ebay.it/itm/281732195394? _mwBanner = 1

Pros: Robust, reliable, excellent ergonomics, button layout optimal, realistic color rendering and complexion (in daylight), good speed burst, excellent buffer in RAW

Cons: My specimen has a tendency to underexpose by about 1/3 of STOP, poor white balance in artificial light, JPEG file color-washed, soft, ISO exploited in a satisfactory way to value 800, the display resolution insufficient.

Opinion: Housing purchased in 2009 at a price of 630 euro today still working with assets of about 70,000 shots. I immediately had a good feeling at the level of maneuverability thanks to the excellent ergonomics and balance, well-designed layout of the controls well distributed which allows you to change all important parameters of recovery and reading without looking away from the viewfinder. Shot exclusively in RAW, JPEG I find it very bad. The AF module is perfect in the middle with a good sensitivity, side steps in the presence of very low light are struggling. Tracking AF mode is rather unreliable, if photographing sporting events (I tested in motocross and skiing) better off and the AF prefocheggiare. Dynamic range a little tablet that tends to close the shades. Many of the shots that work in post, in particular for the recovery of the shadows in the images at higher contrast. Regarding the performance at high ISO in low light the limite is 800 more than the noise becomes important. The ISO 3200 in the shadows have a noise in the chroma very intense with marked banding. The display has a resolution too low, you can not determine whether the image is properly focused. Despite all for my needs I have never felt the need to move to another body until last month I have not had a chance to try a 6D will be very short the next purchase.

Pros: cost used construction penultimate true semipro quality / price ratio

Cons: at the price that I paid I can not afford to write anything

Opinion: Repurchased in 2015 the price of a compact warehouse I am more and more enthusiastic. Past as many from 40D to 50D and 7D and 5D are passed back to the 40D for economic / practical. How many times I did not take the SLR with me because they are too expensive and for fear of ruining it. With 40D + Tamron 17 50 paid both within 400eu not have that problem. The reflex to use forever, walk, mountain etc ... Before I used the car to come out and take pictures, now it's my prosthesis. What reiterate the 40D: Color unrivaled best of 5D and 7D (especially v1) and of course better than 50d. He 10Mpx but let's face it, I've done a thousand tests, in the landscapes as you can 'see the difference if you crop or print posters in exaggerated? I have photos of 5D and 7D 40D and sometimes I'm wrong I d have done it instead with 5D and 40D, for heaven's sake I will be a beginner but I think there are many like myself so I say once again: + 40D and -marketng. For portraits in the interior 7D has an edge (the ISO from 400 and up are best), the 5D then you can not or &serious; even compare because light years ahead. For sports photos do not know is not my thing. However I am always of the same opinion, if you have a limited budget like myself better 40D and an optical rather than a 7D and then risparmiar on optical because the cana gas

Pros: I do sports photo. Almost always ready. Decent high ISO.

Cons: Despite the use of the manual, you have to correct many in post. Color and exposure, sometimes not match the settings. 125,000 shots and appeared the infamous ERROR 99. Shutter party?

Opinion: Overall a good car with sufficient guarantees of operation in all conditions. Excellent battery performance: reliable and durable. The monitor while widely visible presents the usual problem of reflection in bright sunlight. After a hasty control exhibition in a situation of shelter, you end up relying fatally to the machine,

Pros: Easy to handle, has everything you need for photographing large and bright viewfinder, well-cut keys.

Cons: Noise,

Opinion: I bought it just out in 2007, I never had problems of any kind, normally use manual lenses with adapters, Leica R-Olympus OM-Zeiss C / Y Zeiss-Jena M42-.Avoid missed a colpo.Io recommend it to anyone who wants to shoot with manual lenses, have fun a sacco.I RAW files are handled quite well, better than GPJ file, it always photograph in RAW files to have more opportunity to work photos

Pros: Excellent machine robust and reliable, with typical features Canon quick access keys are.

Cons: Acceptable up to ISO 600/800 max, the interior colors are more natural because the white balance is in crisis

Opinion: If I went back I wouldnt, it was for me 'a' good macchina.rnUnica thing that has ever given me satisfaction were the pictures taken in low-light or artificial light also trying to set the WB is nothing to display fare.rnIl beautiful large 3 pollicirnIl camera body has the right weight to be able to mount optics too heavy "L series" then everything you put in balance rn

Cons: For what I use it I'm not against it .....

Opinion: Jack used more than a year ago to replace the 30D, it has always behaved very well for my use, landscapes and ritratti.rnIl its only limit to what concerns me is ISO 1600 as a maximum usage over the advice it, but maybe I will have taken 20 photos with this sensibilità.rnLa highly recommend it to those who start photographing seen that is used at about 250-300 euro and you have in your hands a lady reflex ....

Pros: All you really need, no unnecessary frills ....

Cons: limited sensitivity in high, although at that time, to have more, you had to go to class in a single number ...

Opinion: Beautiful machine, tireless, even though born after 50, was able to do better if not in detail, at least for me, a little importanti.L 'bought in the fall of 2007. I've used it in all conditions, spremendola, especially with the gusts, (I am a fan of concerts Blues / Rock ...) and with high ISO! I have always made beautiful photos without resorting to tricks in post, to try to cover the possible sensor noise ... and indeed, except in extreme situations, I always considered acceptable work of this sensor! Impeccable with sensitivity ranging from 100/400 Iso. It must be said, that I: DIE! Visions to monitor, I was never satisfied, it is clear that use it, because digital does not allow you to do without it. But (I think this applies to all machines) the strengths and weaknesses of evidence only with a professional printing, which unlike the monitor, not "throw" anything away .... rnTornando the car: This year in June, at the beginning of a job, (but I always Commons, as tll think ...) it appeared the famous warning Err.99, Canon sent assistance, he was diagnosed, the shutter to be replaced, including the tax and freight quote is only 150.00 Euro, given the approval after a week, has returned to my faithful 40 repaired. Set the shutter old (so I could appreciate the complexity ... a true gem of electromechanical!). rnil report! He credited the old shutter well: 277 826 shots! Before handing .... Canon quell'otturatore guaranteed for 100,000 shots! I would have never thought, not even remotely, scoring all of those shots, I'm happy, because the car has gone far beyond my expectations, even the most optimistic .... the performance is flawless and the photos taken with L lenses are magnificent, a little less with those objectives Efs ... proving that with excellent goals, the machines show less its limits, the 3200 Iso made with optical 17/40 L are very, very good ... while the 3200 with 17/85 sono lot different, but still usabilissimi .... Ultimately an excellent machine that gave me a lot of satisfaction and I hope to continue ...

Pros: 10.1 megapixel RAW to clean and versatile, body and unparalleled ergonomics (at least in the range semi-pro), fast AF and 95% reliable (suffers a bit with low light, but it depends also from the lens mounted and I think it is the prerogative of many models), burst very good and reliable

Cons: LCD dated and poorly defined, limit usage to 800 ISO, "errore99" typical problem with this model, there is no AF micro adjustment, power button in my opinion uncomfortable by location.

Opinion: And 'my car for a little over a year, bought used with few clicks and discreetly used so far in several fields, some of which are quite applicants (gravel rally in the rain at all). rnChe say: I want a lot of good, the body would replace him with anyone else for ergonomics and robustness, 10.1 mpx file that return clean and versatile (masismo 13 mb of HD) if you shoot 800 iso down including (besides I do not never push), AF fast and reliable on the central point, ditto on the side but we need a little more handle to manage them well (do not have an AF point expansion), burst satisfactory and suitable tutto.rnHa of defects: LCD horrible (basically makes it impossible to tell if the photo is perfectly focused or not, leaving all of a rear control on pc, very uncomfortable), it lacks a few more options in the points of focus that the sisters have higher-end, limit usability of no more than 800 ISO. rnAh not Tropicalised then water and dust entering, but quforeign powers are professional bodies, although this does not miss a colpo.rnLa mine is starting after more than a year to give me back "errore99" I read that on this model appears inexorably after a few tens of thousands of shots.

Pros: Raw files workable speed burst enough for birds in flight

Cons: AF coupling a little slow in AI servo, WB inaccurate in artificial light (lamps or studio flash), made at high ISO just enough

Opinion: I am very satisfied so far. Even crop discreetly pushed return detailed photos when used with good lenses. I've always had some difficulty hooking fire with birds in flight, especially if you can not take good aim with the central point on the subject. The quality of the file has not made me make the jump to a 7D that I am not yet convinced. I hope to one day replace it with a 5dIII and a aps-c noteworthy if there will be. I do not like the quality of the file from ISO 800 up, I find them a little too noisy.

Pros: Body (strength and excellent ergonomics), excellent quality-price, good burst.

Cons: Micro absent, unacceptable noise after ISO 1250-1600 (but on the other hand is a aps-c), 10 MP a hair tight in the case of cut-outs.

Opinion: Hold it in your hand is a gioia.rnPresa a year ago used to 350euro gave me and giving me great soddisfazioni.rnLa consider it a must for anyone who wants to start, but do not want to entrust to the entry-level bodies on mercato.rnSe you content of its simplicity (no video, no screens ultrfighi) you can save some money for a lens and have a body worthy of nota.rnPerfetta in esterno.rnIn inside the iso 1600 where it is still usable are tight, but then not I could ask for more from a aps-c 2007, for the rest there is no micro FF.rnLa me is slowing in the purchase of Sigma lenses.

Pros: Solid and incredibly reliable, excellent RAW, AF, ergonomics and overall quality

Cons: ISO is not very high, no microtatatura

Opinion: Using the 40D recently, but the difference with the old 350D is abysmal: access to the settings, the picture quality that produces the sensation of having it in hand strength, speed autofocus. RnDirei that still holds head very well to many corps level recenti.rnUnica flaw that finding is the low ISO (up to 1600, 3200 in H, but too much noise for a good use) that could be a problem with the objectives less bright.

Cons: Very low resolution screen

Opinion: It is the camera that I use at the moment and yet I find myself still very good especially with RAW files that churns out. Pros: Gust very good, strong body and immediate commands.

Cons: AF micro adjustment absent after 800 iso noise.

Opinion: Having owned a Pentax K20D and Nikon D80. What to say ... Camera body strong, but needs with excellent optics to express its full potential, although I must say that digests almost everything. In 2012, as a body to advise people who want to start seriously. The MP made available are more than valid for a beginner, and the file provided for the PP and good in any format (jpeg, raw even better). I have had the pleasure to try it with a Canon EF 24-105mm F4L IS USM and although designed for FF, made very well. The same situation with Sigma equivalents. Many complain of the display, which can serve, I can not go so well. Overall a great camera body, simple, secure and robust.

Cons: Viewfinder, LCD sparse, 10Mpx (large prints), ISO.

Opinion: I had this body a lot 'of years ago and I got rid of only to go to the full size. A little 'I regret it because I've done everything, from fashion shows to rally from football matches to landscapes. I printed out several photos, well at high iso without notice smudges. Given the price at which it is sold, I would say that is a great deal! Of course, the viewfinder is not the best and even at high ISO does not shine (the 3200 is only for extreme cases). But with 10Mpx and the shutter speed is definitely a car that can still give a lot!

Pros: Gust, immediate commands, sharpness, AF and robustness.

Cons: Display by definition bad

Opinion: My first SLR, which I'm in love! I noticed the progress compared to the previous 30D, I've got to try ... The body is robust and perfectly manageable although it is quite big, maybe it's a little heavy but I do not see a problem, those who buy a camera like this if you have weight problems? the burst is wonderful to be a camera in 2007, and also the AF is very fast in my opinion (ok not compare with other monsters of speed, but we must always bear in mind that just left was a bomb, which still works today like a gem!) unfortunately mine has suffered from some problems of hardware that I was unfortunately forced to unplanned maintenance, but do not consider it a defect, because it can happen to anyone. In conclusion, it is an excellent machine, which gave me great satisfaction. to be a semi-pro is well worth what it costs, a house of Canon amazing product!

Pros: AF, strength, command

Cons: AWB, live view screen, high ISO

Opinion: Valutiamola for as long as it is output. It 's still my camera so I can not say if it still holds dissatisfied blow, now also shows the side to new generations. It 'tough but obviously a little heavy. screen live view was very bad at the time and the more time, given the low resolution. the auto white balance often mistaken shooting in RAW but easily remedied. good burst, focus still good levels on the accuracy and speed, all cross-type points. Usable up to ISO 800. to 1600 we must work hard to reduce noise in post. It is not tropical but the build quality can use it under a light rain without damage. commands willing

Pros: Strength of the body, good ergonomics, good burst, file not too heavy, good quality / price ratio.

Cons: Autofocus little customizable, low-resolution LCD.

Opinion: It is used at a great price (now under € 400) for what it offers: very robust and ergonomic body that includes all the features and quick setup of typical semi-professional. Good burst to 6.5 fps, surpassed only by the professional machines like 7D and 1D. The 10 megapixel raw files offer not too heavy that do not require too much space on the hard disk. Lcd little resolute and customizable are little af "cons" to accept if you want to have a body of quality at an easily affordable. Feeling the limits of a body such as the entry-level 450D, I looked for a model that concedesse a qualitative leap with spending almost nothing after the sale of the 450D and 40D I found in the body just right!

Pros: good AF, weather sealed body although not robust, fast, great value for money

Cons: display of the older generation, a little noisy after 800iso

Opinion: I went to this body after a 400D and the jump was very impressive! is a body that I used a lot and with great satisfaction! the biggest limit of this machine in my opinion is the live view in macro ... not exactly brilliant color and definition ... now I use it as a second body combined with a BG to have more independence ...

Pros: Good range of colors, fantastic volley for his level, body strength, intuitive, fits perfectly in my opinion.

Cons: Perhaps the improved display in the resolution, a little too much noise after the 800 Iso

Opinion: Fantastic really well done use on all occasions, good Af fast, fantastic 6.5 FPS burst, excellent baked files from this wonderful car, and has a color gamut of all rilievo.Non I never felt the need to have the correct micrometer also because of the AF series lenses use only L. The really recommend

Pros: Body robust and professional optimal pixel density, very good noise management (problems to be solved for me iso 1600 with DPP), dated machine (only for parameters consumerist today) but excellent overall performance and indistinguishable in the final result (if not better) from other recent products "polycarbonate" (of course I mean the category)

Cons: Lack micro (not essential but certainly useful for non-Canon lenses), some jam in the extraction of flash despite updated (at least mine, and sooner or later I'll have to send in assistance).

Opinion: I bought it in November 2007 and was the camera back to SLR after the abandonment of me, at the end of the 80s of analog photography. What can I say: I love it. I have no intention of selling it and not feel the need to chase technology upgrades (from the crowded pixels) that add nothing absolutely nothing to obtaining good photographs (of course in my humble and amateur opinion). In fact, I do not use live view and the macro I also do not consider a defect the lack of a high-resolution display (do not forget that when photographed on film ...): what is more than enough to take a look balance exposure to light and all'inquadradura (the pleasure of the picture for me is above all to "make it" when shooting for this "development" only in DPP and try not "to crop") I've tried others, including the 7D and eventually came to the conclusion that the 40D has everything you need to take pictures of high quality, then obviously depends on the "photographer".

Pros: Strong body, excellent raw 10-megapixel good burst.

Cons: LCD poorly defined, af older generation.

Opinion: Great body strong and firm that fits well in the hand, placed a sensor not too busy to help you get well raw processed with a noise up to 1000 ISO well controlled. With this body I cover all aspects of nature photography and I've never been disappointed. The only flaw is the lack of a high-resolution LCD that in macro photography in my opinion is a great helper.

Pros: Quality / price ratio, very good image quality, file workable, good burst and af

Cons: display, no micro af, at high iso suffers a bit ', technology is not recent

Opinion: I bought it after I owned a 450d and a 60d for a very short time (bleah!), soon replaced by the camera in question. Has filled both those that I thought the limits of the two machines mentioned above and now I'm finding it very, very well. Associated quality objectives makes it perfectly sharp images, files, not heavy and easy to work with its 10Mpx they are, I would say, the ideal. It 'a reflex of the solid construction and good-looking; however, two things that made me feel limited with this camera body, the screen is very poorly defined that it is not able to give adequate preview of the photos (at least for the expectations of an advanced amateur photographer / semi-professional) and the absence of autofocus microtaratura: in fact, having bought a Sigma 150-500 that probably suffer from front / back focus've never been able to fix it ... (I have no money for assistance). I feel strongly, however, to advise, especially those who can not afford to upgrade to 7d or full frame but want a semi-pro camera with excellent performance.

Pros: Price, construction, focus good, indestructible

Cons: above 800 iso almost unusable.

Opinion: Great body, to never sell, up to 800 ISO pictures in my opinion produces identical to the canon 7d. Now I use it as a second camera body is always great satisfaction to me. For me it is one of the best canon successful in recent years obviously talking about semi pro. Produces the best raw up to 800 ISO, above files are almost unusable, but what can you expect more. Excellent burst 6.5 fps. What can I say I do not sell.

Pros: Good burst, good raw, precise af

Cons: lcd low resolution settings Af,

Opinion: Use the 40 D for about a year before I used a 500d, I have to say it was a quantum leap, raw files as they come out from the room are lavorabilissimi and full of detail, sensitivity up to ISO 1600 requires only a small PP, highly recommended for nature photography and photography in general. The only thing that is lacking is a true waterproof but I've never had any problems until now also using it in the rain. The micro would be a pleasant thing, but every time I buy an optical send the room and orttica to calibrate (so much for free because the lens under warranty) and therefore is not a big problem.

Pros: Reliability, value for money, burst density sensor general ease of use.

Cons: Not equal to the new aps-c at high iso, no video nor latest features like micro af.

Opinion: It 's still my favorite car. It 'a forklift, the port anywhere without hesitation at all. Solid and very reliable. It has a fast and accurate enough af a flurry of respect. And 'well-used up to 800iso, and from 800 to 1600 at the end it comes out well with a minimum of PP. His 10Mpx are great to be processed without the need for PC octacore and out of the car already discrete. Obviously does not have the latest features like video, etc., but has the liveview which is a godsend. For what it costs is still worth a lot. E 'in my opinion currently the best solution to start shooting on a budget and having a lot.

Pros: Fast (burst) and robust, very good quality RAW (including JPG, except for some problems of posterization if you crowd too carried away with curves and saturation levels), low noise even at high ISO, ISO 3200 can be used (but they tend to " banding "in the shadows, esp. of reduction. rum. disabled high ISO), Live View, Customize STYLES PICTURES (for more precise colorimetric profiles)

Cons: LCD almost useless (less readable than the smaller but equally Res.'s 30D); AUTO WB almost always inaccurate, sometimes ridiculous (I use the WB in Kelvin, but then you often have to compensate between green / magenta); colorimetrically is not precise, even if you can improve it with GREAT PICTURE STYLES Custom; slight tendency to underexpose, + / - slight posterization (spec. JPG too processed); miss microtaratura (inserted by the 50D onwards). I would have liked a little more care in making + (semi-) impervious to water and dust ...

Opinion: I took it from 2008, is my first SLR (I came from a handyman Lumix FZ20 bridge, 420mm F2, 8). The use yet with satisfaction (a couple of times I had to repair the shutter button, but the first time was mea culpa because Fcamera I fell on the stones). With good optics does not fear much competition from newer models (including within the reflex increase of megapixels does not translate into a proportional increase in image quality and definition). The QI not disappoint (even if it is + / - similar to that of 450D). AF very good, with excellent optics even in low light. I do not know how fast even for moving objects ... The Balance. White's CAR is almost always disappointing, except in situations + "easy" (I shoot in Kelvin). I also liked that there was (as in the 50D) the opportunity to observe the change in Live View of degrees Kelvin in the Settings. This type of WB. Excellent idea of ??"Pictures Styles", especially the fact that they can be personalizzati using DPP and modifying the colorimetric profiles to your liking (eg. making less saturated red, varying shades of blue / cyan etc.) but perhaps this can lead to increased posterization (?) and everyway is valid only for JPG, and for RAW if you open them with DPP (alternativam. one can operate on the tones / saturation / luminance of the various colors in the panel of its RAW converter). Sooner or later I'll have to go to the EOS 7D, and the main reasons are: - Ultramigliore LCD - microTaratura AF - Best Auto WB (I hope) - Lack of alternatives (given the policy of the Canon 60D x et seq.), I do not know as it will improve the IQ for a use for the web and small prints ...

Pros: NP

Cons: NP

Opinion: I can not pronounce on the Pros and Cons' cause I do not have this machine. OF course I know 'but' that a 'good camera and I was sorry not to have. I'm still with my little 400D but if I find someone who sells it at a good price, a little thought we would. I often read that the 40D and 'also used by professionals as a body of reserve, and' is not it? IT is often said that the noise at high ISO and 'less than the 50D and 60D, perhaps due to the lower number of Mp. As I have some money to spend with their "toys" I'll take it. Kudos to you for review.

Pros: Good burst, good autofocus (in relation to price range and models), strong, good RAW files, good tolerance to noise.

Cons: Display large but poorly defined, poor battery life in live view, no microtaratura (useful on lenses from other manufacturers), meter tends to underexpose by 1/3.

Opinion: I switched from 30D to 40D last winter and the jump was very impressive. Improved on all fronts compared to previous versions xxD, the 40D is still an attractive choice for those like me who only pockets poor and photographer by passion (ie non-profit). The file is good, and thanks to its 10MP and then to the low density of the sensor, produces good file hiding small imperfections less noble objectives and does not produce large amounts of noise (fully usable up to 800iso, with a few tips and working PP up to 1600), the AF is fast, much better than the 30D, the viewfinder is bigger and added the live view (great for macro and landscapes) and a blast from 6.5f per second (really very good). It is just really sad, has a large display but really not well defined. I often shoot with a dear friend who owns the 50D and the difference is really impressive. In short, I highly recommend to those who have limited budget (currently about € 380-400 for a used one in good condition) but try anyway something that is beyond the entry level.

Pros: Semipro body, yet current technology, good processing jpeg, optimal resolution, raw wonderfully workable, reliable first body suitable for any occasion, a second body to never sell.

Cons: absence microtaratura (though not essential as on current SLR superpixellate), screen poorly defined.

Opinion: The canonists (among whom I am proud to belong) are always ready to strafe critical output of the last model, but then suffer morbidity retrospectives, they see the goodness of the bodies when they are out of production now, ready to mourn and / or nostalgic tone reassess the previous model. Consider the 40D body still present, controls the synthetic theory "necessary", and building materials in line with industry unlike the newborn the same category. A Good raw PP of the 40D is capable of churning out files that do not fear the comparison with Daria Glover aps-c present including the same degree of competition.

Pros: Strong body, good controls, sharpness, good processing jpg, good burst.

Cons: Display little defined even if 3 ", absence of microtaratura.

Opinion: It 'a good car at low iso is less noisy than the competitors. Despite being a little 'outdated technology is still a good camera. The viewfinder is large enough to 10 megapixels is enough for most types of photography. Sin for the display poorly defined and for the absence of microtaratura. The robust but gives security.

Pros: Good burst, excellent 10.1 megapixel RAW well workable

Cons: AF little customizable, low-resolution display, does not support UDMA

Opinion: I put it in the drawer waiting to find a buyer since I bought the 7D. I have never been separated from the 40D, the 40D produces files that are better and easy to work without having to work hard on PP. The screen is low resolution, it lacks the fine correction of FA does not accept memory cards UDMA ... is for these reasons that many photographers have preferred to competition Nikon D300.
