Pros: Use, quality, af, comfort, construction and weight.

Cons: A little soft at full aperture compared to the 24-70 canon.

Opinion: In my opinion it is a very good lens, I see many negative reviews but if we take it for what was born, you can not complain. It has a focal range ranging from wide angle to telephoto, a good aperture, a good build quality, the yield in terms of quality is not at the levels of the upper L series but cmq good, plus it has a stabilizer that is not great but cmq helps ... without forgetting weights and dimensions certainly better than the 24-70 2.8. I am a happy owner, I use it mainly for photojournalistic services and it is of an extraordinary convenience ... a body, a lens, a flash at the belt (if needed) and a small fixed in the pocket (in case it was needed) and I am calm. As for the quality of the yield, I will have been lucky but I certainly can not complain ... and when I need the top I leave it at home and use the 24-70 2.8. Highly recommended!

Pros: Construction, AF, stabilization, tropicalization, zoom ring and focus

Cons: weight, sharpness

Opinion: I would have expected more sharpness from a Canon L series. However, it was the all-rounder lens par excellence that has accompanied me, to date, during my career as a photographer. Would recommend... do not buy it for more than 550 euros. The weight, despite having included it among the "cons", in fact, having used it with camera bodies equipped with battery grip, has never been an actual problem. Even today, in 2022, to conclude, I consider it a very valid machine, capable of churning out quality rows. In my opinion, usable up to 3200 ISO.

Pros: General sharpness, construction, AF, IS

Cons: The position of the zoom ring is a bit uncomfortable

Opinion: My first L Series in support. A wonderful handyman with whom I learned the first rudiments of composition. How many shots and how many memories related to this lens. Very robust, IS effective but a bit noisy. Excellent f/4 on all focal lengths. It is now an "old" lens that is just a few euros away in the second-hand market. I really recommend it to those who want to venture into the photographic world by buying at modest sums an excellent all-rounder lens with which to have fun and also take away some satisfaction. Goodbye my friend and thank you for everything, I separate with sadness but I was sorry to keep it "thrown" in the drawer for unused.

Pros: Sharp, good focal range, stabilization, fast and silent AF, f. 4 at all focal lengths, price to be used

Cons: Weight

Opinion: Taken used at a good price (350 euros in conditions like new) surprised me for the speed of the AF and for the silence. Robust and, therefore, also relatively heavy, it has its strong point, in my opinion, in the fast and silent AF, as well as in the focal range that meets most of the needs with an optical quality very close to the corresponding fixed optics. Bright enough to be an f.4, it gives the best of itself between f. 5.6 and f. 11/f. 16, but also at TA it defends itself well, especially at focal lengths between 80mm and 105 mm. I found differences in quality output between FF (Canon 6D) and APS-C (Canon 100D and Canon 200D) sensors. Let me explain: I found a better yield on the small APS-C sensors, especially on the 200D, compared to that of the FF sensor of the 6D, perhaps due to the crop factor that favors the central area of the lenses. However, colors, microcontrasting and sharpness are at a good level with all these cameras. I have not found, so far, any permanent defects such as aberrations, distortions, flares, etc. that can also appear in certain situations at 24 mm. to TA and that cannot be corrected in PP. The AF is fast, almost lightning fast (especially with the 200D) and very quiet. I also used it on Sony A7 with the Sigma MC11 adapter, and even in this case it proved to be up to the situation: excellent performance without loss of functionality. The only real flaw can be considered the weight, which however goes to balance bodies such as the 6D or the 5D. Great as a handyman to go "light" and take home good quality shots. Recommended as long as you do not buy it (only used) over 350/370 euros.

Pros: All-round, stabilized, great for traveling, cost, color rendering, solidity

Cons: acceptable sharpness, barrel does not freeze.

Opinion: Taken used at a good price 300 euros. All-round lens with a great focal length range, stabilized excellent construction. . Great for traveling. in the cons I put the lack of the block of the barrel that tends when put to collapse to stretch to the maximum focal .. Excellent color rendering and good sharpness. I recommend it if you find it used at a good price, 300 euros max, as an all-rounder, to take with you on trips.

Pros: Crisp, great focal range, stabilized, AF fast, tropicalized

Cons: nobody

Opinion: Honestly, I always preferred it at 24-70 because of the greater range of focals covered and because of the stabilizer. Never replaced with the latest versions, it has always satisfied me, it has excellent colors, excellent bokeh and excellent clarity even at full opening. I wonder how it is possible that as a score has dropped so much, in my opinion many people do not realize what they have in their hands, this is a certainly dated optics, but it has nothing to do with those standards sold together with entry level aps-c, it is a great adventure companion that will certainly not disappoint you! I use it with great satisfaction even on 5DSr, the files it returns are always very beautiful, free of aberrations and very sharp, but the thing I always like are the colors.. I also have the 16-35 f/4, but I always prefer this by landscape.

Pros: Robust, tropicalized, reliable, good quality yield, L-Series F4 at all focal points, autofocus

Cons: For what it costs, no flaws.

Opinion: The only lens I always keep attached to the machine, because it's a reliable handyman. With this lens I made reports, ceremonies, events, streets, travel, portraits, and it never gave me any problems. I cannot call it an objective of excellent quality, but of good quality in all situations. L series lenses, autofocus quite precise and fast, tropicalized, robust, weighs the right and mounted on 5D becomes well balanced, has good ergonomics. I call it excellent, because it excels in nothing, but it performs well in all situations. Aberrant a little at 24mm, but I don't find it a flaw. He's my ideal companion because he's like me... I am not looking for a few excellent photos, but many good ones.

Pros: Convenience of use with coverage of common focal points, good stabilization

Cons: Sharpness not at the top at TA, better closed at 5.6, not bright

Opinion: Purchased together with the D5II as part of the kit. At first I was puzzled by the low brightness. Over time I have believed myself and I consider this an essential lens both as a unique lens when I do street photography, but very comfortable even in the rare weddings I have done. It is not perfect, but it certainly represents a good compromise.

Pros: Robust, tropicalized, beautiful colors, fast and silent MAF, used now is within everyone's reach

Cons: 24mm pronounced distortion, vignetting, chromatic aberrations at all focal points

Opinion: A Canon house classic, I think it's among the best-selling goals in the history of the red white house. I used it for five years, first on APSC and then on FF, taking it with me on countless trips and excursions both in Italy and abroad. Robustness and reliability make it a perfect travel lens in terms of versatility on the focals, less so if you look for the optical quality that is not particularly high here despite offering a really good color rendering. In fact, it suffers from pronounced distortion, especially at 24mm, which can be safely resolved in post but the same cannot be said of chromatic aberration. Compared to today's all-rounder zooms it is now a dinosaur, but with the disposal of many reflex kits you can take it home at very affordable prices, ideal for those who approach photography on a small budget.

Pros: focal range, robust, very sharp, holds well backlight, excellent construction, in 2021 it is at very good prices. stabilizer very good

Cons: excessive weight, bulky, distortion at all focal points, blurred so so, ugly sunstars

Opinion: one of the most popular modern optics. covers practically 90% of the most commonly used focal points. a real all do. robust and well built, indeed too robust and too thought out. the deformation is easily corrected in pp and therefore I do not find it a major problem. if it didn't weigh that much, it would be pretty much the only lens I'd use. in 2021 it is used at very good prices. I preferred it to cousin 24-70f4. I preferred the more focal points of the more clarity and I am not at all repentant indeed! I strongly recommend it also because in canon there are no alternatives in handymen. there is no 28-300 vr as in nikon so either this 24-105 or the cheap version 25-105 f3.5-5.6 or the latest version mk2 of the 24-105 which however costs a lot. in the backlight it holds well, but sunstars practically do not exist and are very ugly. to be used in the backlight I preferred the optical 28-135 IS that I will sooner or later buy back.

Pros: All-rounder, reliable, robust, tropicalized, stabilized, derisory used price, well balanced mounted on 5D III

Cons: nobody

Opinion: My favorite goal, so much so that I bought one in reserve because I only use this 90%. I'm a photojournalist, but I'm not one of those photographers from burst shots, on the contrary I'm a single-shot sniper, so I need a reliable lens because I don't have a second chance and I have to move within a few moments. I find the distortions pleasant and I do not correct them in post-production. If you take a scenographic photograph to be processed in post-production, this is certainly not the right goal. If instead you take a type of photography, like mine, shooting in jpeg (I keep I don't know why the raw in the second card, but then recycle them) and limiting the PP into strictly necessary things, such as adjusting slightly and only serves, lights, shadows and tonals, then it's perfect. dark? Personally I find it bright the right, both day and evening, but I do not like blurry backgrounds, so exaggerated openings do not interest me, indeed I work very much in the middle diaphragm and I often tend to close it, but the photos do not seem to me to be dark. I don't get super bright lights, but that's exactly what I want. In a nutshell, it is a well-constructed and honest goal, in the sense that it tells the truth, which does its duty reliably, therefore, in line with canon philosophy.

sent on January 26, 2021

Pros: versatility, stabilization

Cons: slightly dark and yet a little short

Opinion: Used for almost ten years, in sporting or public events in the broadest sense. I wasn't thrilled about it, but after taking it to the canon camera service in Rome almost six years ago I had to believe it again. Evidently he had problems with engraving, front or back focus, misalignments. In short, there I learned that if I do not see a photo well I have to spend those few tens of euros on the lens and give it a second chance. Given the spread in the used of this lens, it is an obligatory step. So it is rather engraved, in TA, but also giving a certain aura, for example to photos of monuments (https://www.juzaphoto.com/galleria.php?l=it&t=3411135). Stabilization in the norm, at 105 does not offer much bokeh, due to the limited opening. The objective extends to the variation of the focal length giving reasoned concern for the dust that you risk embarking. In the photos to cyclists in road or offroad race I used it for a long time in the first step, the one where they are still grouped, discovering in recent times the greater versatility of the 28-135 that gives the possibility of a greater number of subjects caught, despite having a lower stabilization and sometimes being darker (we talk about outdoor CMQ). Overall it is a work goal, it does not make much sense to carry it around for passion, better one or two fixed or the 24-70 even not stabilized. Rings tend to gray with the passage of time.

Pros: Construction, robustness, price of used, tropicalization, good handyman

Cons: Distortion at f4 angles, chromatic aberrations, visgnettature

Opinion: You can see that it's an old, well-built and solid conception lens, although I got a little dust under the lens. On the other, in contrast, in f4 the angles are distorted and not sharp, if you photograph in the backlight there are numerous chromatic aberrations on the lines of the images very contrasting, tending to purple, often correctable in post, but not totally. Stabilization is discreet, but I wouldn't trust it very much. Also if you point down the barrel stretches. In conclusion it is a good all-rounder lens that is worth putting in the backpack if you do not want to carry so much weight, because you manage to do a little bit of everything, from the landscape to the portrait, not excelling at anything though. It is an entry level of the L series

avatarjunior
sent on August 17, 2019

Pros: f.4 constant, L-series construction, excellent color rendering, non-existent AC, very quiet AF, used price

Cons: sharpness, stretching of the barrel

Opinion: This lens is a tank, that's its strength. It does not excel at anything, but it still allows/allowed professionals to take home probably most of the jobs. It is located for little money used, has a decent sharpness, excellent color rendering and non-existent aberrations, is stabilized, tropicalized and is built to last. Quick and very quiet focus. THE ONLY annoying mole, the elongation of the barrel tilting the lens. Without a filter it does not happen to me, but already with a UV unfortunately it happens. I also tested it with speedbooster on the M50, where it becomes almost 24-105mm effective and f.2.8 constant, versatility doubles and image quality and sharpness still remain very good PS: Now I switched to his brother RF 24-105L and it has nothing to do with this, light years later in every area, if you have a mirrorless do not hesitate even a second to invest in the latest version!

sent on June 25, 2019

Pros: Sharpness, L-series, stabilized, USM, great focal excursion, constant f/4, lampshade included, excellent chromaticism, versatile, all-rounder, tropicalized.

Cons: When it points down unfortunately it stretches, slight 24mm vignette, external zoom and not inside the optics.

Opinion: It's my all-rounder lens that I prefer so much that, sometimes, I forget I have the 70-200. What about it? It is an optic that allows me to shoot any photographic situation well and I am particularly proud of it, despite having several years on my shoulders being on the market since 2005. One thing that you can't see and unfortunately has, is the stretching of optics when the same points down. Another thing that I consider negative (and wanting also unprofessional to see), is the zoom: if from 24mm I go to 105mm, the zooming takes place external and visible. Overall a good lens of which I can not complain: sharp, chromatic beauty, versatile and all-rounder.

avatarjunior
sent on May 24, 2019

Pros: Excellent sharpness; Excellent distortion correction; contained chromatic aberration; Extreme versatility; Tropicalization AF very fast.

Cons: Slight vignetting visible at the corners; Weight and footprint; When tilted downwards, the zoom tends to stretch towards 105 mm... You can fix it with the classic elastic method.

Opinion: I own this zoom from 2012 and I always carry it with me for its extreme versatility, coupled with my EOS 5D Mk II. I can leave the other lenses at home, but that always follows me. Excellent the focal excursion: it guarantees an interesting angle of field at 24 mm, while up to 105 mm manages to cover most of the photographic situations. A bit cumbersome and heavy, however it gives a nice impression of robustness and solidity. The ring nuts are very fluid and flow on a regular basis. The stabilizer is sufficient. Useful lens in the close up since the slightest distance between front and subject lens can fall to about 25 cm (45 cm from the sensor), but the bokeh leaves it to be desired (it is still a zoom). At the minimum distance a reproduction ratio of about 1:4 is obtained. It is necessary to be careful in the photographs against the light, as there may be annoying internal reflections. Since the L series you should expect more, but overall it is a great goal, all-rounder, satisfactory. Aberrations are easily correctable with the most popular post-production software (I use Lightroom).

sent on January 20, 2019

Pros: It is an L-series, therefore construction and tropicalization

Cons: Weight and dimensions, quality not from L-series and little efficient and noisy stabilizer

Opinion: Like the 5d II here too I was disappointed a lot. Read the reviews and everyone speaks well, the problem is that from a series L I expect quality, which I have not found here. It is the entry level of the L series, with which it shares the physical characteristics like the constant F4, the tropicalization and a good construction, stop. The pictures he pulls out are off, crisp, unclean... Nothing to do with the 70-200 F4 that I own. An All-purpose series I expect to be at least "good" in doing everything, instead it is good just to take pictures on holiday or in the family and at this point I do not see the reason to carry a beast like that, better to orient to another. The concept of handyman, in my opinion, jars with the concept of reflex, both in the professional field but also amateur, and this lens is the demonstration. Flunked

avatarjunior
sent on January 06, 2019

Pros: The best "handyman" in the Canon field (at least up to the series II...)

Cons: Not excels at anything

Opinion: I use it with 6d, it's a good lens but... it's a Master of nothing! Great construction, but... It is not particularly bright, it is not particularly sharp, the focal length, both wide-angle and tele-side, does not make it a suitable lens to be used alone, so I normally prefer the 16-35 along with the 70-200. Overall it's a good lens, but in the end I think I'll give it away, I hardly ever use it!

avatarjunior
sent on January 04, 2019

Pros: All

Cons: Nothing

Opinion: I'm amazed at some reviews, or I was lucky and I don't think so, or something I don't get back to. I saw some wonderful images acquired with this optics both post produced in color and in BN. Now I replaced it with the Canon EF 16-35mm f/4l is USM and with the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8 L is II USM, but certainly not because dissatisfied with the 24/105 that for me remains a good lens.

Pros: versatility, build quality, autofocus, stabilizer, Price Used.

Cons: Flare and AC in certain situations, missing block

Opinion: I call it the Toolbox Parrot. Everybody snub him up, but then when you're in a hurry, just look for Him. It is used at a reasonable price, it is a L-series, excellent materials, good autofocus, has its flaws as all optics covering a range that must meet in one shot only 80 percent of the needs of an average user. As first optics on FF is perfect, even after it comes back always useful.

Pros: excellent focal excursion, handyman, tropicalized, quality L, F4 on all excursion, tropicalized, used price

Cons: not very bright

Opinion: Another L series lens taken with the FF kit and of which I am absolutely satisfied. It is tropicalized, has a great focal excursion such that you can carry around this lens alone on days where you want to be relatively light and without too many commitments.rnF4 opening on the entire excursion and, although not very bright, is stabilized and allows you to use embarrassing shutter speeds (I shot freehand with 35mm stabilizer with times of 1/15 and 1/20 without shake) rnFosse was a 2.8 would be the almost perfect lens, but there is 24-70 for that (and at a double price)

Pros: Excellent handyman, good optical quality.

Cons: After not even 3 years of use the flat cable was interrupted leaving me with the diaphragm closed and impossible to shoot during an exit.

Opinion: Objective that I normally use on 6D, nothing to object on the optical quality, but I was very puzzled the failure with the interruption of the flat cable after even three years of hobby use. Repaired with great professionalism and speed in the Service Room for 125 € .rn Equipment of this value should ensure a much better wear resistance.

Pros: Comfortable, clear already in TA, good construction from L series, f / 4 fixed, fast focus, you can find good-for-good occasion in the used.

Cons: A little 'heavy, old unreliable conception stabilizer.

Opinion: Purchased as a handyman for the 6D, is really his death. Purchased used, well maintained, I must say that is proving to be a great deal, among other things paid fairly. E 'already very sharp wide open, it closed 5.6 is really eccellente.rnSi performs well on the 70D where, after the fact evidence is roughly on par with my copy of 18-135 STM (apparently very good ), then to the eye in the central area if the caverebbe solve a well 5Ds.rnSecondo me the only defects that are to be a little 'heavy (only 6D 24-105 and neck are a good 1.5 KG after a while 'they weigh) and stabilizer which is not really efficient. A 105 mm effort to stabilize on 6D with a time of 1/25 of a second, when with the above-mentioned STM 18-135 I quietly 1 / 15-1 / 20 of a second to 135 of APSC (215 equivalents). From my point of view the stabilizer can not keep more than a stop and a half.

Pros: Focal Range f4 bright, build quality, reliability, speed, maneuverability, is an excellent all-fare.rn

Cons: Price sometimes high (can also be found well discounted occasions) and the inevitable compromises to have a 24-105 range (in terms of brightness, distortion, aperture, sometimes definition), but can be overcome with PP satisfaction (certainly not the blurred from f1.8 ;-))

Opinion: Purchased in January 2014, it along with the 6D (by the way was the most convenient way to buy it :-)). Faithful companion all-make that, combined with resistance to high ISO of 6D and to the well-workable RAW, often convince me to leave other optics at home on several occasions, often it just another port, fixed and very bright. Really useful and solid.

Pros: Focal excursion, optical quality, stabilized and tropical conditions.

Cons: For me no, but according to other users include variability among modern specimens and those older and in some cases a problem to flat cable.

Opinion: I bought this objective several years ago to replace the 17-85 I had about aps-c, and for several years has been set at 10-22 my coupled perfetta.rnho changed several camera bodies both APS-C and FF that he is always been a faithful companion up to every situation and condition, and I think it will be for a long time despite the release of version II.rn

Pros: Comfortable, practical, a whole do.

Cons: It has significant defects and you have to recognize them.

Opinion: A valid optician, worthy of herself. Great construction like all series L. Solid as a rock, fast, silent and accurate AF. The judgment is good but it does not shine for clarity. Boys do not write that this lens has all the pros and nothing to it. Defects have enough ..... Distorted pronounced, vignetting vivid, 85 mm up is not at all clear. In post production you can minimize the many defects it possesses. But to say that it has nothing against and that PRO does not have anything to do with it. I had 3 and only the last of 2015 is slightly better but nothing extraordinary. Accurate mechanics but tend to slide to the longest focal plane when it slides downwards; Nice thing for a series L. And they are all so even at the time of purchase. Sin!! It only pays off the lightness and practicality of a real everything that replaces half a kit. The only and only advantage of this lens.

avatarjunior
sent on March 22, 2017

Pros: Great focal length range, bright enough and stabilized

Cons: some deficits in definizionern

Opinion: I used this lens for two years, and I found myself very well on both ASPC (7d2) and ff (5D3). Good range of focal length, as "everything is doing great," you always have a right focal length, especially in the city exits. Fairly light for the transport and of robust construction. Attached to the car dangling zoom extends. But the construction is still good, in two years, however, a few grains of dust are entered. The only flaw is the lack of definition at the edges of images and aberrations (enough recoverable in post). For the money is now mostly used is a bargain.

Pros: All

Cons: Something ... but forgivable and sistemabile PP

Opinion: And 'now gone out of production, I have taken another new version of 2015 before that they end, as the far more expensive (too expensive) new version does not have that advantageous quality / price. For focal lengths covering gives to a FF comfort of ourselves without carrying out more ... sometimes amazes giving you some pictures in which overcomes himself, without disfiguring even in the presence of fixed lenses, sometimes instead advises the limiti..da PP place ... but is concesso..a this legendary and unfailing handyman in dell'amatore kit, how often irreplaceable for a ceremonialist which must prefer the operating speed. Opinion: And my first lens of the series L taken together with the machine body Canon 6D, is a beautiful and do all the pair 6D 24-105 works fine. I must say that indeed as they have already stated in previous posts for travel is an optical otttima, I too have preferred taking it already inserted in the camera body, excellent optics also for the landscapes, I have not noticed much vignetting at full aperture. Pros: Focal covered, rugged construction, and af IS excellent.

Cons: Sometimes all, sometimes nothing ...

Opinion: I love and hate for this zoom. With the FF * * would cover a range of focal perfect, but to 24/50 is sometimes unwatchable at the edges. The practicality of putting in one (small) bag SLR with a single optic * would * priceless. I tried several times 24-70 F4L and found it better ... but the 35 mm more than the 24-105 at times lacking. With the APS-C something better (just) as vignetting and distortion, but you lose the wide side. In short, love and hate. Love, love, I keep it ... ;-)

Cons: A bit of vignetting.

Opinion: important lens. excellent quality even at the construction level. Taken to a disproportionate price because I also wanted the original box. Pros: Handyman Quality, held on almost the entire zoom range, sharpness, price stabilization

Cons: distortion at extreme excursions, vignetting wide angle

Opinion: It 'was my first L-series lens, first used on an APS-C, the general quantum leap was evident on all fronts. It 's really a travel handyman, if you decide to enjoy a light you can carry it attached to the body and do a damn report. Obviously, like all the thrusts quite focal excursions (24-105) has limits at the ends, in the specific case the wide angle is affected in a manner not irrelevant of vignetting and distortion, almost completely correctable in post production. The longer extreme, from 90 to 105mm, the sharpness decreases but without scandal. Ruggedness, versatility, especially when used with major bodies, allow for excellent portability and balance, so that the weight is a vantaggio.rnIl having a stabilized lens and tropical conditions concludes the fortune of this L-series lens that deserves the fame he has Whereas it used you can bring home between 450 and 550 € depending on the occasion. rnDiciamo that turning a bit 'the diaphragm and taking to a lengthfocal average you get results really good thanks to a return of color and three-dimensionality typical of these Canon products. however they are lenses that have their years, someone might turn up their nose to the decline at the edges but it's flaws in my opinion negligible compared to the overall benefits.

Pros: Versatility, clarity, color, durability, price stabilization, fast autofocus

Cons: If you are from APSC objectives, a little 'weight

Opinion: How nice pass from APSC objectives of intermediate quality at this ... the jump you can see eccome.rnrnRitratti, macro, landscapes, you can do what you want ... perhaps the only limit is low light the f / 4 and (if I like the wide angle) 24mm, but nothing that a good body (or a second goal in the second case dedicated) can not solve. And then, to have at this price (got involved and exchange) a fixed focal length of this quality, can only make him deserve me 10 seconds! RnrnUltimo but not least, in my opinion, the advantage of being able to correct virtually all defects introduced by the objective (distortion, chromatic aberration, vignetting) with software that provides Canon supplied (I am referring to DPP), but this is an advantage that can be associated with all the brand Canon lenses, so I consider it unnecessary .

Pros: Tropicalization, sharpness, price

Cons: Vignetting, chromatic aberration, flare resistance

Opinion: Luck and the popularity of the Canon EF 24-105 F4L IS USM consist of a mix of: quality (goal tropical conditions by the build quality of the highest level), versatility (wide zoom range, image stabilization, good brightness) and - last, but not least! - Prezzo.rnLe autofocus performance are quality: extremely quiet and with a capture rate of the highly respected fire. The sharpness is kept good over the entire focal length even at full aperture, even if the corners of the frame tend to be more and more soft and kneaded with respect to the center; it should be clarified that in practical use this slight softness to the edges is absolutely not problematic and does not preclude obtaining excellent immagini.rnLa lens allows you to get a good blur when used to the far longer than its focal length, that is, beyond the 70-80mm, albeit not to the optical results much brighter and diaframmthe broadest maximum: even at f / 4 you can get a good bokeh, provided you focus on a subject vicino.rnPurtroppo enough suffers from a pronounced vignetting at 24mm and full aperture (also universally known fact) that improves only marginally, closing the diaphragm of a pair of stop; at longer focal extensions, the phenomenon is even quite low (even at f / 4), disappearing in fact to any focal length with aperture f / 5.6. rnUna moderate longitudinal chromatic aberration characterizes all focal lengths, especially evident at 24 mm, without creating serious problemi.rnLa resistance to flare is very good at wide-angle focal lengths, showing a slight decrease in performance to the upper reaches, easily compensated with a characteristic little 'attention in phase of conclusion ripresa.rnIn it is a lens of excellent quality, extremely versatile and by the excellent level of performance, a "glass" handyman to carry with you in the great majorityof cases. His most serious flaw, in my opinion, is the sharp drop in sharpness at the edges of the frame, the legacy of a build quality outdated ten years; what perhaps would make this lens by far the most attractive (and therefore more commercial) would be maximum f / 2.8 aperture: its new version will be presented to the public from next August 25 together with the new EOS 5D Mark IV, we'll see! rn

Pros: Versatility, construction, handyman in the true sense of the word, stabilized, weather sealed.

Cons: not perfect to 24mm (just a click ...)

Opinion: After using with satisfaction a beautiful copy of this all-rounder, I had sold to finance other purchases. With the practical use and for my needs, I realized that he could not give up his comfort ... in the end I came back to him, thanks to the current good price again. Irreplaceable in travel photos when you need to stay light, it is a perfect match with the 6D. Excellent use in the portrait where the f / 4 aperture allows you to get a good blur to 105mm (without making absurd comparisons with specialist optical). Even in landscape photography I find it very good and, while recognizing the non-absolute perfection than other dedicated optics, I consider that a good preparation PP can safely compensate for the optical quality, by the way much more 'that good. Is avoided, more often, of straziarsi to change the optics, typical odious practice during holiday travels, but without 'sacrificing quality. Highly recommended.

Pros: Handsome handyman, versatile, good balance weight size, reactive in focus, stabilizer

Cons: Sharpness is sometimes not perfect

Opinion: I echo the conflicting opinions on this. Can give beautiful shots in certain situations and in others there appears as detailed as I would have expected from the L series My opinion, however, it is taken with the benefit of the doubt, having tried only on an old 40D that appears perfect with any of my goals. In general, however, the lens I like, it's fast and precise in focus, beautiful colors and allows you to travel with a full glass. Cons: often results do not meet expectations. Mystery to mixed results.

Opinion: L 'I was on probation for a bit' of days of 5D MKII. It must be one of the first esemplari.rnPer me this lens is a bit 'a mystery. With flash light, let's say in the study, the results are beautiful. But under different conditions, with natural light, outdoor, the sharpness is as if he lost significantly. Fine details are mixed. It almost seems like an economical zoom. Especially 24 mm I expected more. Dunno, I came to doubt that the IS, always inserted during tests, in doing its work face losing something to the resolution of the lens, it would explain why the results are better with flash. rnForse the first samples had benefits which have been optimized for newer ones? Or this one in particular has had a few small problems maybe even use? Or am I tried it too little and not well? Unfortunately I have not thought about putting the 'IS off and repeat also scatti.rnVero that of full frame I have the eye accustomed to fixed lenses. 50 / STM 1.8 or 40 / 2.8 STM knowswill objectives for the poor but on the 5D MKII do enjoy .... rnInsomma at the end rather than taking this zoom, I prefer a couple of excellent fixed, less bulky although less practical and without IS. Pros: Great all-rounder, solid and durable as all L-series

Cons: Barrel stretching alone, not as sharp as in the TA objectives, problem (tacitly resolved in 2012) of the flat cable that breaks freaky

Opinion: Bought a copy of 2013 after careful research to avoid the problem of the flat cable (seems to have been resolved in the post-2012 specimens along with some flare problems), it is an excellent all-rounder view of the focal length. good quality, without infamy and without praise, that's fine on FF is that APS-C, its value is in the versatility and relative lightness compared to 24-70. Solidity typical of L-series, however, it is absurd that a lens so expensive and widespread as it is the "18-55 as" the full frame kit has a breaking problem so expensive, widespread and, at project level, stupid, after zooming Xmila the cable that makes communicating aperture and the camera body is only breaks for rubbing wear inside!

Cons: if I have to find one: f / 4

Opinion: This lens is one of the major successes of the Canon, sold separately or as a kit especially for the FF, is really a handyman optics. In my case having an APS-C (7D mk2) I find that the mere fact of exploiting the central part makes it to the final where the optical journey really be the best, mainly because of the sharpness. Fantastic for street and for landscaping. Maybe there are those who objected to the fact of using it on an APSC reduces the field, but according to me it seems to have certain kinds priceless and irreplaceable (if you want a wide angle APSC than enough for a 10-18 .stm). Pros: Crisp, af fast and accurate, stabilizer and weight for the category.

Cons: The 24 mm.

Opinion: For value for money there is no better. The overall yield is always high in the face of those goals, give a click on 10 formidable and the other 9 leave you with a bitter taste. The stabilizer works best of modern although activated long before crossing the threshold of safety times. Canon colors and contrast, almost impossible not to recognize his picture. Only F4? F are used to more open canvas above 300 mm and 24 mm from the corner down; This is a "handyman" and F4 is her why because the F4 ever cheated once by a consistent and accurate af.F open, from 35 to 150 mm, in my opinion need any more for the pdc that for speed . My repurchase is a 2013; I think Canon has quietly revised and improved optics without calling it "II" not to penalize other Zoom products, certainly better but different and very much more expensive. Sooner or later will the "II" but I hope not dot tutto just how crisp the rest forgetting too that's good in the "I".

Cons: F4, chromatic aberration, distortion at 24mm

Opinion: I'm using this in scope but also double as a handyman while traveling. Thanks to its focal length combined with the stabilization is able to face any situation in both fields of application: in fact, with the use of a good flash gives great shots! Thanks to its low weight you can also use it to travel, where I can enjoy it to the fullest! The sharpness is good but the middle tends to decline considerably towards the edges. The only flaw of this lens for me is represented by f4 aperture that makes it a little dark. Coming from a Canon 24-70 2.8 feels a lot, and the distortion that is apparent in 24mm! The focus is good. Cons: Gravity zoom, color aberration, distortion and flare to 24, f / 4 sharpness.

Opinion: I find it a great all-rounder. I state that I love the stationary but there are cases where you can not do without a zoom: trips, sea, sand etc. . (Where change continuously target becomes dangerous as well as inconvenient). rnL'ho purchased in a kit with the 6D about a year ago, I was initially worried del'f / 4 coming from a 17-50 f / 2.8 but was pleasantly surprised by the detachment of the plans and the blurred despite the iris dimmer. rnScomodo the problem of gravitate zoom, holding the reflex shoulder as I walk always comes out zooming. rnNon feel that same sharpness of fixed which are used to shoot at f / 4, but the AF is accurate and can be improved by closing already at f / 5, distortion and vignetting go away with a click. Instead flare remains with backlit subjects but personally I like the effect if well managed. The lens hood is well-made, petal, smooth internally. A goal which I highly recommend to FF .. Pros: sharpness, speed AF, stabilization, range 24-105

Cons: for me no

Opinion: What about .. the perfect handyman. The great versatility given the range 24-105 I expected .. but I was surprised by the speed and reliability of the lens. He never betrays returning sharp shots without it neither flare chromatic aberrations, with a focus quickly and without problems even with the times "longish". It also has a sturdy construction, mechanical fluid and perfect balance on 5D1. Overall, in addition to the optical qualities gives a great peace of mind. So it really deserves the red piping:-) rnPrima had a 24-70 f2.8 and the comparison is only right. The 24-105 comes out with flying colors. It 'true that is a little darker, but you can recover by sacrificing a bit' the ISO. However, to freeze the action in the evening or for a dark street even the 2.8 is really enough. While if there is light or make a landscape f4 + stabilizer are a great cocktail. In fact the stabilizer is very good and almost always possible to bring home a shot at 1/8 sec and with a minimum ofluck also to 1/4 second (tests done on the 13mpix 5d). In terms of focus / creativity, a thread feels the lack of 2.8, but just a bit '. The fuzzy ones are made with massive canvases or with fixed 1.8 and down. And 50 / 1.8 costs 80 euro..rnDoveroso also a comment on the range thinking on full frame. 80% of my photos are in this range and does not feel nearly nothing for the lack of other kit lenses (except for specific uses such as portrait, macro, focus, fish-eye etc). Maybe mom Canon could do it a little longer (24-120?) But if this had then forced to optical compromises? It is fine. On aps-c I have yet to try it. Many say that to get the same yield on aps-c should be taken 17-55 f2.8. Optically they may be right. However I would like to emphasize the other use that comes out on APS-C, or as short telephoto. Covering a focal length from 39 to approximately 170 allows sbrogliarsela very well in the street or in landscapes from a distance. On more than one occasion I found myself with the 70-200 mounted but in need of a 50, forif even 40 and I potutto help but make more shots at 70 and then mount them. So the range 40-170 bodes well .. we'll see. rnrnKen giustamento Rockwell has noted that the space in the zoom ring of 24 to 35 is very small. True, very true .. but for now I have not suffered in the least. Usually if I have a lens capable of a 24, shot a 24 and not the intermediate focal .. because even a little 'crop is getting. Indeed .. as it is done has an almost natural to take you directly from 24 to 35 (my favorite focal) jumping the focal around 30 .. which basically jump enough. :-) RnrnAltra question portraits: it is often said this lens used to 105 f4 can give beautiful portraits. In fact in the 105 f4 his focus is not so much, the right not to distract. However if you use it with a little 'of malice choosing backgrounds that are far away from the subject then the focus grows and brings home something rnrnqualcuno, here in the forum and elsewhere, we did some nice portraits. rnVolendo just find a micro-defect is a thread of barrel distortion at 24mm butshooting in Raw corrects itself:-) rnrnInsomma is an excellent lens from all points of view .. and since it has no weaknesses is a real banishes thoughts that leaves you to focus on what is in viewfinder. Opinion: I think it is one of the best all-rounder, just look here on Juza, there are photos of some users, breathtaking. it is true that I have learned in photography everything costs a lot, but considering what you buy (L f fixed) is also very economical, the real problem of many of these objectives and the gravity problem which consists in activating automatic Zoom soon tilts up or down the goal! Pros: Very solid construction and weather sealing; zoom and focus rings pleasant; autofocus very fast, quiet and precise; weight; Focal Range unparalleled!

Cons: The real truth is against chromatic aberration, a problem also typical sensor aps-c

Opinion: I own this light for a few months and after having tested it well I would like to express its opinion is an excellent optical altogether, if you think that the use boundless they can do. The use of 60D but I tried it on FF, apart from the obvious loss of wide angle on aps-c compensates reaching 170mm (more than enough for me) with a good overall sharpness, loses a bit 'over the edge the 70mm but the center remains quite sharp even at f4, if you close one stop already becomes sharper (on ff, of course, the sharpness is much higher). The colors are quite good and faithful, quite good management of the flare. Good stabilizer, does his duty. On aps-c problems as vignetting and distortion I've almost never heard, when active correction profile pp changes very little in the image, only when the photos are vertical or horizontal lines to the extreme sides you see a little ' improvement but really these two defects are not a problem. As I wrote the truth is against the ac, very present(But that goes away just as easily in pp) sometimes even in the middle. Overall it is the perspective that I always use, constant and does not disappoint! for wide-angle, on aps-c, the best solution is to accompany it with an ef-s low price (eg canon 10-18 IS) so as to be covered from one end to a very good 16mm tele 170mm with only two lenses! Ah, tropical conditions and excellent construction;) !!

Opinion: I bought this to replace a 17-85 lens that I had in my kit. What can I say? Optics 'watertight' and resistant as practically all the L-series, allows shots of different types with a range of focal quite varied. Allows, without losing too much quality, to bring along a good optics without having to disturb pounds and pounds of targets 'articulated'. Opinion: Abstract: Using this objective on Canon 6D.rnPrima to take this view, I waited, hesitated, I'm aware, I read opinions, I tried it more than once ... all this for at least three months. I think it was the lens that has struggled most of all to convince me to let her in my backpack. I am a "spoiled" with optical light, and in recent years, I had just fixed lenses bright. But to work, I need a zoom which was first of all reliable, durable and made good despite having a fairly wide range of focal lengths. The idea of ??being with a zoom and for more, "only" f4, I was frying. Well, now I had really no way to test it in a variety of situations, both working, both outputs "playful". Certainly, it has some intrinsic characteristic of the zoom-rounder, so the focal extreme, has some distortion (24mm) or just un'accenno decline of sharpness at 105mm, a bit of vignetting. But absolutely nothing so tragic as many describe. Very valid AF, who has never stoner a photo: precise andfast. Weight and size are good and still, always in line with other zoom in this range. Excellent construction, beautiful rugged! Transmits a lot of strength. The only drawback is the diaphragm f4 .... But do not consider it a failure at all. It would be like saying that the Ferrari 458 is a ciofeche, traveling less because of 599Gto. Absurd. The 24-105 is a zoom "travel", lightweight and compact size, a good zoom range and an overall yield very valuable, and it is not comparable to other lenses that have a purpose and characteristics very different. Cons: And 'perspective is not specialized, then goals that arise for specific uses offer the best performance ever.

Opinion: I was photographing a classical music concert that was held in a small environment. I had with me: 17-40, 50 and 70-200 1.8 f4.rnMi felt covered for every need, but ... I realized that I lost in the transmission optical highlights, curious expressions or intense. I then developed the idea of ??using a single optical "generalist", maybe not excellent in everything, but who has the precious commodity to be ready for every occasion. Sure, if I try the quality of the hair splitting going on optical first, but ... if I have to travel light, perhaps with a small bag of anonymous, this is the right choice. Today you will find at affordable prices and is a good buy, recommended, even for the stabilizer.

Pros: Build quality, versatility, weight, price, quality optical stabilizer

Cons: Vignetting, chromatic aberration, flare

Opinion: I took a very short, after reading numerous reviews on specialized sites and I must say to be satisfied. The optical quality, which is considered an all-rounder, is truly remarkable. The stabilizer does its job well. Mechanically, it seems sturdy and durable and, at least for now, does not stretch alone. The ring for the zoom is a little 'uncomfortable but it is the' abitudine.rnQuanto to optical defects mentioned in the "cons", it must be said that, except for vignetting (very pronounced at 24 mm and also at f / 8), others are quite tolerable. Chromatic aberration in most cases is easily solved by DPP or LR and artifacts in the backlight I've encountered only in extreme conditions. rnPer me, even considering that it is located around 540 euro, is a perspective consigliabilissima.

Pros: sharp, strong, stable, true all-rounder

Cons: zoom ring uncomfortable, heavy, distortion at 24mm, resistance to flare poor, some aberration too

Opinion: I use this lens on 6D, and it 'a true all-rounder. It 's the ideal lens for when you want to go out with one lens in trips, excursions and whenever you do not want or you can not' change lenses. Allows you to shoot from landscapes to portraits in the foreground, great picture quality 'and stabilizer in many cases and' really useful, more 'than a 2.8. By the opinions I had read, did not appear to be a very sharp lens but I have noted a 'good sharpness at all focal lengths, either open or closed to f4. In this important parameter me favorably stupito.rnLa building and 'good, massicccio, well-built and therefore also heavy for my taste, but d' other hand a f4 with the focal length and stabilized, you can not 'expect more . The zoom ring me instead negatively impressed, and 'too small and placed at the bottom with your fingers and you bump into the camera body, really badly designed. The distortion at 24mm was widely expected and I would say pretty normal for a lens with this excursion and almost all fixable in PP. The resistance to flarecould be better but I have found only in the shots with the lens pointing almost towards the sun and then in the limit cases enough but could be better, so 'as aberrations. But even in this case, are noticed in cases indeed the limit, such as branches of trees in strong contrast. In the end, a lens that I would recommend as a handyman quality 'but like any multi-objective has some weaknesses.

Pros: Series L, robust and fluid, stabilizer, focal length

Cons: vignetting, flare, weight, f4

Pros: Versatility, Weight, Price

Cons: Not exceptional sharpness, flare, vignetting and distortion at 24mm f4, Widespread problem with the flat cable.

Opinion: Optics with which I began just switched to full frame, certainly covers a range of focal lengths very comfortable when you are around and allows you to avoid frequent changes of ottica.rnIl price is attractive for those seeking an all-rounder, who is on the new MMT , is weather sealed and has a weight not eccessivo.rnRiguardo quality but I was not happy and would not recommend it, do not yield constant, little sharpness, even at small apertures, intense vignetting at f4, no resistance to flare, noticeable distortion at 24mm, AF not always very fast .... the worst series in L commercio.rnInoltre is good to know that, after a certain number of shots and use, the lens has a problem breaking the flat cable internal forces to replace the entire circuit with diaphragm consequent cost of repairs on the 200 euro that Canon does not pass under warranty, all this for a design error. Problem that tends to recur ... rnVenduto then after a few months! RNLA best level of quality and comfort, personally, I found using two corpwith the 17-40 f4 L and 70-200 f4 IS L, plus of course a series of fixed according to the situations and needs. Cons: Not very bright, suffers from flare in controsole, after about 15,000 shots you have to bring in assistance ...

Cons: However, it does very well for a number L in low light and backlit .Indeed in the latter case will produce in your photographs an annoying flare difficult to remove in post-production

Opinion: Overall I think it's a good all-rounder capable of restoring optical images sharp and contrasty. Pros: Handyman

Cons: Pdc and distortion

Opinion: It 's the classic all-rounder who give in most kits, in my opinion has a bad pdc and one out of focus (when it does) just as bad, maybe I am a very picky ... you notice a bit of distortion at 24mm and sometimes en suffering backlit in low light because f / 4, but still use it in rare cases, point to something better, is not suitable for those who are picky, my model has the ring a little hard and tends to suck dust.

Pros: Objective handyman, light stabilized to tropical incision good "is not a fixed so you can not have a knife" bought as a kit with 6 D. The 'F 4 is not a problem, at least for me, of course, but nothing distorts to 24 mm of irreparable in post-production; compared to previous versions has more resistance to flare

Cons: For me the only thing wrong is the zoom system, when you bring the lens to 105mm pump air inside the sensor; Online price though tend to decrease. The edges to the center but it is not as disease is common in many zooms in the same category.

Opinion: I had a 5D Mark II with 24-70 f 2.8 I ° version, then unfortunately I suffered a theft, I found myself with nothing. I lost 70-200, 50mm flash memory cards etc.. "Thieves have made a good Easter" To start I took the kit with 6 D 24-105, considering the price of the 24-70 f 2.8 is now unattainable. Taking some shots I've seen brighter colors "is not on the edge," and I do not know if it depends on the lens in question or by the camera software. I do not feel the nostalgia of 24-70 as picture, also the edges was not much more defined and the much lighter weight you tired but very much less. I was surprised to flare, the last specimens have been improved, such as goal-rounder I gave him a nine.

Opinion: I arrived yesterday (09.06.14). I bought it because I needed my first optics for 60d (aps-c) because I was using optical analog. I think about aps-c makes it very good, wide angle that may be enough for most occasions and a decent telephoto macro and stuff. The af is excellent, fast and fairly quiet even though the dark is some uncertainty and rarely hangs up. As for the distortion I found it slightly to 24mm at f4, but closing at f5.6 already beginning to not be noticed. Pros: Versatility, robustness, good image quality, market value unchanged

Cons: Yield is not always constant

Opinion: I am an amateur photographer from less than a year and coming from 18-135 I immediately realized the enormous leap forward in terms of image quality (color rendition, sharpness, contrast). Back home, the first release was stunned by the image rendering: in good light conditions the 24-105 allows you to get raw practically perfect, sharp and colors so saturated that made me drool. Working on some shots I often have the impression that the slightest change in LR does that damage the photo rather than improve it. Unfortunately, not always the case and sometimes in conditions not favorable, I find myself having to deal with a certain softness and inconsistency of color rendering, especially in situations of smarmella semi-backlight conditions. I am not referring to flare issues that I have not until now rilevato.rnAlla end of the day, however, if only for the focal length - which creates dangerous addictions - this lens deserves a 9.

Do not listen to those who say that it is wasted on APS-C: I use it for months with my 600d; must only have the foresight to have a panoramic lens behind. Opinion: First L-series lens (professional) for many 5D owners since it was sold (also) in a kit with the camera body at an attractive price. Zoom to a good standard with a range of focal lengths that make it ideal for many shooting situations. Appreciable (on full frame) and the wide-angle 24mm, despite this focus show more defects (distortion / chromatic aberration), automatic correction of lens through raw converter makes them disappear. The build quality is flawless, well made, sturdy solid. The rubber graft EF is a sign of series L. The maximum aperture is not great but we must be satisfied that retains its f4 up to 105 mm! The focus ring is large and comfortable, the zoom ring for those who have big hands, it may seem too close to the junction, but it is a matter of habit. Makes better on APS-C. Cons: f / 4, out of focus

Opinion: I possess recently, so far I managed to do without it for travel or trips outside is invaluable for not taking along all the equipment. I was expecting amazing things from him and he was afraid other terrifying from the shots so far made was surprised in both cases. The thing that disappointed me was the focus: nothing to do with the creaminess that I have used various 35-85 - 135, not to mention the brightness in comparison of which the 24-105 comes with broken bones in low-light situations, yes, you increase the ISO, the stabilizer helps, but for those accustomed to f/1.4 there is no story. The thing that surprised me instead piacevolissimamente is resistance to flare, indicated instead by many as the real Achilles heel of this perspective: the last specimens will be improved or I was lucky to stumble across a good copy? Cons: On aps-c no. On ff cartoon and distorts. Low resistance to flare. The older lenses can suffer from wobbling, defect not yet found on the newer lenses.

Opinion: Fast and compact, with a constant f4 and stabilization, this lens is permanently glued to my camera body except for a few occasions when I use a 17 40. I am astounded by its perceived quality in color, in contrast to the speed and accuracy of fire. The stabilization of the use in very few cases because of my steady hand, sometimes I keep it off at 105, but when the light falls and photographer static objects, the IS allows me to shoot at 1/6 without feeling moved. The stabilizer is not essential but in those few cases can be very useful. I am not an admirer of the lenses stabilized but this won me over. The quality and sharpness is noticeable already at RT at all focal lengths. My behaves excellent between 24/28 and 70/105. Obviously being f4 sometimes you need a little boost in the 'Iso, and above all forget the dreamy bokeh typical of f2/2.5/2.8 although 105 is able to safely remove the subject from the background. Opinion: Use this zoom 5d mark III and find it irreplaceable for its price / quality ratio. Is not perfect, but it allows you to do everything with decency. The affiancherò at a fixed light, but I find it comfortable when I am in all those situations where you can not take a step backward or forward. The first copy I had with the 5D II was less sharp than that I own now, so I understand the mixed reviews you read on the net.

Pros: Versatile range of focal lengths. Excellent build quality and optics. Tropical conditions. Stabilized

Cons: The zoom extends from itself if left alone "dangle". Expensive if not purchased in kit form

Opinion: A lens kit for FF which however should not be considered as a "plasticotto" by four money. It 'a lens upgrade (and in fact is an L series). I use it on 7D and, unlike many, I find it a very versatile lens with a focal range that fits very well to my personal needs, even on APSC. Once mounted you tend to leave it on the car and do not ever change it. The stabilizer is great. Forums are talking about a known issue with the flat cable shutter tends to break though this seems to be a common problem with many zoom lenses (eg: Tokina 11-16, Tokina 12-24, Canon 17-85, Canon 18-55 IS and others).

Pros: Accurate and fast in focus, sharp, strong and resistant to all weather conditions. Stabilizer quiet and perfect.

Cons: Some presence of flare from time to time, for the most elementary errors of the photographer than anything else, is easily solved with the help of the lens hood.

Opinion: If you want a lot of stuff out without going below this is the lens that you have to assemble the machine. The focal length range from 24mm to 105mm covers virtually every need of the photographer. Striking wide-angle 24mm if montanto ff precise on APSC. Good focus on the larger focal which makes the latter also great for portraits. Practically perfect when used for long exposures at night. Discrete macro capabilities even if not born to questo.rnL 'I basically welded on the machine :-)

Pros: wide focal range, stabilized, weather sealed, fast AF, good for reportage.

Cons: flare, F4 aperture, vignetting in PP.

Opinion: I use it on the 5D MkIII great lens to do everything, you can shoot almost anything without carrying a lot of equipment. In certain situations it would be nice to have more brightness, aperture F4 too closed. Poor for macro pictures. If you want a lens for all Canon L series, is to buy. I'll take on every trip.

Pros: Focal range, sharpness

Cons: Abberazioni color, flare, on APS-C you lose the wide angle

Opinion: For some months now I'm enjoying the lens size while buying FF I mounted camera with APS-C (a diventamdo 38-168). On 50D and 7D has always behaved well (even in the rain in Valle D'Aosta), but it sacrifices very wide angle and for travel, it would be better to combine the lens with a wide angle lens dedicated to the sensor. It 'a lens handyman, tropical and robust with good performance. The AF is very responsive with excellent clarity (for me even at f4). On the other hand I find it a bit 'too abberazioni comatiche and suffering to flare.

Pros: focal range, construction, IS

Cons: is a "handyman", but good quality

Opinion: And 'perhaps the lens I use less among those who have, simply because I consider it a great all-rounder and then to use when I go out with the camera and a single lens. if the port instead slower then often he stays at home, replaced with goals I best serve the wide angle and telephoto. I consider it still a good choice for those who just want to travel light, to the limit with a single lens. From the best between f5.6 and f8, but also good at f11. The IS works very well and allows you to shoot without a tripod with the same focal length, with times slower than in the 17-40 (in which we travel light and do not need the paintings are normally the two lenses that port).

Cons: F4 .....?

Opinion: Caught in a kit with the 6d ... that direrninnanzi all I've tried to see this famous weakness on the flare and probably being one of the last series, resists better than my old tammy 17-50 ... rnrnAf ipersilenzioso, very fast, almost at the level stabilizer of the 70-300 tamron, excellent focal range (allows you to run with a small 50 emergency all day in the report) and excellent sharpness already at room temperature .. rnrnDa take absolutely kit if you can, I can not understand why his brother more new 24-70 f4 cost so much in piu.rnrnPS: For those who pass by aps to ff is a godsend and does not regret the slow 2.8 (17-50,17-55 etc.); focal stabilization and more, f4 to blur more than any sfochi to 2.8 lens on canon and, extremely, with the strength of the new canon iso stop less does not feel at all.

Pros: Sharpness, build quality, image stabilization, tropicalization.

Cons: Quality global variable from a specimen to another, distortion at 24mm.

Opinion: Definitely the best standard zooms currently available. Compared to a specimen that I had three years ago a completely different lens. Sharpness scary levels far more famous 24-70mm f2, 8, very high resistance to flare, much smaller distortions. rnForse the biggest flaw of the 24-105mm f4 is this: the quality varies from model to esemplare.rnParlando with a Canon technician, I was told that these units are free of defects. rnChe say, a nice surprise. I use it as an all-rounder lens, mounted on my 5D Mark III gives shots really superbi.rnVivamente recommended.

Pros: Excellent optical quality in relation to the range of focal lengths covered - vr very efficient - to FF that is valid on APSC - excellent construction - compact - low weight

Cons: distortion at 24mm - edge quality at room temperature

Opinion: It 'the only lens in today's market to have the trip of a handyman without obvious sacrifices or compromises in terms of optical quality. This would be enough to promote it with flying colors. Ideal for reports, is surprisingly effective even in the picture: although a zoom, has a focus in ta very pleasant. In available light stabilizer allows you to work without too many problems with static subjects. Diaphragmed a bit 'does not regret the fixed focal landscapes, it also enables shooting without soffire ragionevolmante close in quality, the AF is fast enough. Of course, the distortion at 24mm is evident, there is a little 'light fall and deterioration in quality at the edges wide open, but as reasonably tolerable and overall we tend to forget that he had to do with a 5X from a very wide-angle focal length. Indispensable in almost all areas and genres when you have to reduce the equipment to a minimum. If my 5D II should have just one goal, it would be this or zoom the 35/1.4 L. Together with the 70-200/4 is the lens that Nikon does not have.

Pros: Effective stabilization, range of focal lengths, excellent build quality

Cons: Resistance to flare, autofocus sometimes inaccurate, 24mm distortion, lateral chromatic aberration at the extremes of the focal

Opinion: The contrast is lowered substantially by using the lens in the studio with the compacts, even quite poor resistance to flare outdoors. The autofocus is fast and quiet but inaccurate when lighting conditions are not optimal, indoors very often wrong focus (on 5D Mark II): things improve in external and generally in a good light. When focusing, however, the sharpness is good. The lateral chromatic aberration can be seen at the extremes of the zoom range, 24mm is significant distortion, vignetting at full aperture is visible (on FF). However, the optical quality is not perfect in my opinion is understandable if we consider the price of the lens in relation to the range of focal lengths, the build quality really excellent, the stabilization system and ring-type USM autofocus, all of which individually affect certainly significantly on the final cost of optics.

Pros: Versatility, clarity, stability, precision and speed AF, color rendition and micro-contrast, tropicalization.

Cons: Distortion and vignetting at 24mm (on FF), is "only" F4, on APS-C best 17-55.

Opinion: The 24-105 is a very versatile lens that allows you to do a bit 'of everything with a good quality. E 'then a handyman particularly suitable for genres such as street or reportage, because it passes in a moment from wide angle to medium telephoto and then from the context of the subject. The sharpness is always good (it has only a slight decrease at the edges around 70mm at room temperature), micro-contrast and color rendition typical of an "L" series. The AF is fast and accurate, excellent stabilizer. Obviously, its strong point is, if you want, its limit: is a fixed F4 and then remains a lens is quite dark. The bokeh fact, although of good quality (8 blades), not "off" as the objectives brighter. The distortion is quite relevant to 24mm as well as vignetting: just click on the profile but a lens of software development and in a moment everything works out. For the little I used it (I have it for 10 days) did not have any particular problems of flare. According to me, on APS-C is preferable that the 17-55, although less long, is more wide-angle and is fixed a 2.8.

Pros: Good range of focal lengths, very effective stabilizer, color rendition and micro-super, robust, accurate and fast af.

Cons: A bit 'long the minimum distance of focus and then have difficulty using macros on ASP-C 38 mm forced to "give up the wide-angle" (but perhaps not born to ASP-C!), With its lens hood is not passes unnoticed for use "handyman" that would be dedicated.

Opinion: I've got the 24-105 recently and I bought it after much investigation and many dilemmas for the problems reported in the forum than Flare and loss of wide angle du ASP-C (I have a 40D). After the first real test, a street party for children, I realized that I could not do better buy. The 38mm equivalent obtained with ASP-C are not so bad to use all do, but I assure you that the thing that amazed me is to get photos from your impeccable sharpness! A definition that I did not believe could be achieved with 10Mpx the 40D! TRUE colors! .. And then the focus is very fast and also in AI-Servo mode, does not lose focus on the subject even committed! Are strategic pleased and satisfied to have spent a bit 'of pennies! Now really understand when I say, "invest in good optics and you will not regret ever"! .. holy words! :)

Pros: Sharpness excellent range of focal lengths ideal, light, very robust, sealed, stabilizer, af very precise

Cons: of Aps-c lose the wide angle

Opinion: Great lens, has an incredible definition even at room temperature, another planet compared to the zoom I had before (Sigma 17-70 f 2.8-4.5). It 's true, I lose the wide angle with the 50D, but also having the 10-22 I still can cover all the focal lengths from 16 to 170 mm. On the 50D to excellent results in terms of clarity and definition, I dare not think of what he can do on the 5D mkIII (which will come ....). Objective highly recommended, worth all the money spent ..... absolutely!!

Cons: Flare Flare Flare, AF in low light (sporadically)

Opinion: Excellent all-round lens. I use it on APS-C and is perfect for my needs. with 105mm f / 4 on APS-c The stabilizer is essential and that of the 24-105 works very well indeed. Good construction from L series, very sharp for a zoom cos' wide (except for F / 4 which is clear enough and without a lot), beautiful colors. The only real drawback is that it suffers a lot of flare and you have to be there atttenti

Pros: color rendition, sharpness, solid construction and tropical, the range of focal lengths quite compact, excellent stabilizer

Cons: flare, vignetting at room temperature, a little 'soft at 105mm

Opinion: Handyman with excellent color rendering and sharpness of high quality, professional construction and solid stabilizer that works very well and allows the use of slow shutter speeds with relative ease by hand. Suffers enough flare, this is its main flaw, must wear a hood. A TA has vignetting at 24 mm distorts and has a little 'abberazione color at all focal lengths, these defects cmq easily corrected with Digital Photo Professional or better with ACR / LR. Perfect lens for trips and excursions, on FF covers a range of focal lengths very interesting. If purchased in kit the quality / price ratio is really remarkable.

Cons: on aps-c you lose the wide angle.

Opinion: Fantastic lens that allows you to go out with one lens during walks cameras. Personally I mount it on a aps-c and I must say that I draw all the quality that this lens offers. The objective that I have was manufactured in 2011. Presents no problem of flare and vignetting (the latter is active only on FF). It is an excellent all-rounder and aperture to f4 I was never given any kind of limit. I really like the focus of this lens and the sharpness that speaks with smaller apertures. I've never had problems with this lens flare. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a unique lens to carry around or at least adding to this a Canon 10-22 for landscape photos.

Pros: excellent quality, excellent auto-focus and range of focal lengths, acceptable weight and price ok

Cons: Slight vignetting (on ff), slightly lower sharpness to 105 mm

Opinion: What can I say? I like all weighed the choice between this beautiful lens and the 24-70 f 2.8 beyond the price (I bought it at 600 euro used in place of 1050 of the new 24-70) was really tough. interesseva me very much: "2.8" and I had read the various difettucci of 24-105 chiariamoli immediately:-flare is no longer a problem. with the recent series has been corrected-vignetting is correctable in 2 seconds so if you really want to have a 2.8 this lens is not for you (the bokeh f 4 is not exactly the best). for EVERYTHING else is the suitable lens. I use it on aps-c and paired with a wide angle and a telephoto lens I have the complete set. of aps-c is lost but the wide angle is used the central part of the lens that is the best part. also 105 mm and about 165 become what it feels like. of acting will still be short but on aps-c is just fine. recommended |

Cons: F4

Opinion: Very good lens, I just put on sale, to buy a medium format camera. It is a great all-rounder, recommended for those who practice sport and travel, but for someone like me, who aspires to portraits with 6x6 film, it is useless, as I use little Personally, I think the quality of a lens must be equal to the need that you have a lens if you do not need a goal, it can be buoo as long as you want ...

Pros: Construction, colors, sharpness, stabilizer, constant aperture

Cons: flare, vignetting on FF, slight distortion to 24

Opinion: The 24-105 IS is definitely a good optics. An excellent all-rounder on FF (not on APS-C where advice EF-S lenses that allow you to have 24 mm actual). The build quality is very good and the AF accurately and quickly. Suffers enough flare. Over time has been improved (at least what I currently comparing with the previous year). For me it is a lens must. In fact, I sold it for the first time (I went from FF to APS-H) ... and then buy it. In these focal lens seems to be the best all-rounder canon. The 24-70 has an optical quality slightly better, but with a lower excursion. In addition, a handyman prefer opening f4 and stabilizer (but it is a matter of taste and need). I recommend it on FF.

Cons: Cartoon wide open

Opinion: I got to try over the years the evolution of this extraordinary optics. Early models suffered heavy flare in backlit more motivated. Fortunately, in the current version (2011) this defect was considerably attenuated. Optical extraordinary that replaced many lenses, fixed focal, in my bag. Pros: Great on a ASPC, good colors, sturdy construction, good efficiency of the stabilizer.

Cons: Unacceptable distortion and vignetting on a FF, poor resistance to flare.

Opinion: I think I'm against the current but I do not like this view. E 'born as a handyman on ff, but it seems designed for both APSC cartoon and distorts to 24 mm on full size. On APSC improves a lot, but it becomes a zoom in my opinion unattractive. The resolution is very good up to 50mm, then falls clearly while remaining decent even at 105. The flare is another weak point, however the contrast and the colors are great. What can I say ........ for me a hybrid just succeed, for many other wonderful perspective ....... Booooo ......

Pros: lens with very sharp colors and blurring of "character".

Cons: Hood without any problem of flare.

Opinion: The use of APSC format (canon 7D) and I'm very excited. Basically I can not remove it (for transition to sigma 8-16) 'cause I always seem to go well for my chances of shooting (landscapes - portraits - photos of Sunday). About the "flare" on the website of Canon is called the 24-105 range from 1 to 1000 UT numbering for this problem. Laboratories should solve the problem without costs. Pros: Sharpness, stabilizer, versatility

Cons: Flare, poor macro, wide angle just in APS-C

Opinion: E 'an excellent all-rounder, is not bright considering the presence of an excellent stabilizer. I use it often use it directly mounted on APS-C and has always been my faithful travel companion. Canon EF 24-105mm f / 4 L IS USM has a quality? superb build and is weather sealed. The flare is the Achilles heel of the Canon EF 24-105mm f / 4 L IS USM, so be very careful, it reduces the battery life often using the LCD screen to check after each shot and take the picture again.

Pros: Very sharp, stabilizer, good range of focal lengths, robuto

Cons: Distortion and vignetting at 24mm TA, flare

Opinion: It 'a great lens, especially suitable for the journey: the range of focal lengths allows you to use it as the main lens from wide angle to medium telephoto especially on a FF. Excellent sharpness, but at 24mm the distortion is evident piuttostyo as well as vignetting TA: But now these defects are easily controllable with the SW automatically (I never had to change a few shots by hand). Pros: Crisp in relation to the range of focal lengths, stabilizer effective, construction.

Cons: Distortion at 24mm and vignettaura at RT.

Opinion: The use of FF where "spread" its range of focal lengths with excellent quality. Suffers enough flare and distortion at 24 mm, but this easily controllable via software as well as vignetting at full aperture. The effective stabilizer compensates in part the max aperture. The building, as befits a "L", is absolutely excellent. Great all-rounder, especially on the road without any compromise in terms of quality. Also excellent in color reproduction. The only flaw, at least for my hands, the zoom ring that I personally would have preferred a little wider.

Pros: Lightweight and compact, good range of focal lengths, stabilizer super, excellent color rendering and micro-contrast, robust, accurate and fast AF, weather sealed.

Cons: Distortion at 24 mm (especially on FF), AC TA in bright edges, vignetting at room temperature (especially on FF), suffers flare.

Opinion: An excellent all-rounder, especially on FF which earns a good wide angle. I use it with great satisfaction for my travels on 30D. Sturdy as a tank, it lends itself to all kinds of photos, from landscape to portrait. It 'a lens that would be perfect if it had a better resistance to flare and it was a bit more crisp than 105 mm. with a little less distortion at 24 mm would be perfect even on FF where ivece, in my opinion, suffers more than that of APSC. I look forward to a markII that corrects these faults (venial). For me, a best buy ever.

Cons: cumbersome, not very bright, distortion.

Opinion: Great lens handyman, robust, optical performance of all respect. Dim, but already at maximum opening shows good sharpness. Manual focus is always available, discrete macro capability.
