Sigma SD1 Pros: 1) Sensor amazing: definition, detail and three-dimensionality of the image to levels never seen before. 2) Excellent workability files (excellent recovery of the shadows). 3) AF Form simple but, when combined with good optics, it shows very quickly and accurately. 4) Machine body solid, weather sealed, ergonomic. 5) Provisions of the controls and menu interface extremely simple, clear and functional. 6) A very handy option on the ring MLU (Mirror Lock Up). Cons: In my opinion the main defects of the SD1 are as follows: 1) exasperating slowness of processing and writing sheet RAW (large files), 2) in some cases possible emergence of banding orizzonatale (especially in recovery pushed the shadows / highlights) and 3) in rare cases possible emergency flare due to the IR filter. 4) users document stretched from pasaggio in SPP Opinion: Machine at first sight! The yield of the Foveon is unsurpassed and makes you forget the flaws (though present) of the SD1. At low ISO (up to 400) detail is to scream, but the files can be used up to at least 1600. Besides ISO 1600 quality degrades rapidly. The machine is especially suitable for landscape photos, macro and still life, but I use it mainly in photographic hunting (where, however, they accuse the excessive length). Does not lend itself, in fact, for action shots because of the obvious limitations due to the processing time and writing files. sent on August 27, 2012 |
