Samyang 85mm f/1.8 ED UMC CS Pros: Sharpness, blur, colors, price. Cons: Some basic finishes Opinion: I took this lens to use it for portrait and for some close-up, given the minimum focusing distance of only 65cm. For the portrait becomes an equivalent focal of 170mm, then a little longer than the lenses usually used, while for the close-up allows to leave a little space from the subject, useful for butterflies, dragonflies and the like. At the slightest distance it frames a wide area about ten centimeters. It is used in manual both as regards the aperture ring and the focus, and I must say that this way of proceeding does not give particular problems with my G80, indeed leads to a more meditated approach. The focus is easy, thanks to focus peaking, and inaccurate focus shots are the exception and not the norm. The construction is good, the rings turn with good smoothness and precision. The sharpness seems good already at T.A., excellent closing of a stop. Colors and blurred very pleasant. On the G80 it is possible to indicate the focal length to allow the stabilization of the machine body. To increase the magnification I will try to use it with an extension tube. I opened a gallery with some test shots, without post-production. Update: Always with the G80 I did very good video footage in very low light conditions, working well with MF, where the AF of another lens started to go into crisis. sent on April 15, 2019 |
Panasonic Lumix G Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS Pros: Excellent in all respects, sharp even at 60mm, where according to MTF charts should be lacking. Good performance also as a close-up lens. Light and compact. Cons: Focus ring without reference, uncomfortable to use for manual focus. Obviously it's not very bright. Opinion: Taken in kit with the intention to replace it with some pro lens, it made me recreate and remained in my kit. Really effective throughout the focal range and really versatile, good even for close-ups. At 12mm is sharper than the Samyang 12 F2, at 60mm it loses comparison with the Olympus 60 macro, but it does not disfigure. Very good price-performance ratio. sent on January 31, 2019 |
Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS Pros: Good sharpness, but not excellsa, good colors and contrast, bright. Good construction Cons: A bit of chromatic aberration, manual focus ring a little hard, Spartan finishes Opinion: I took this lens for its brightness, for evening and night shots. My pana G80 obviously does not recognize it and if it is set the stabilization requires the focal length at the ignition, since it is then stored. The diaphragms are manually set on the lens, the information does not pass to the machine, but the light meter works, in manual or at aperture priority. The Exif report aperture 0. Focus fairly easy with focus peaking, if you do the due attention. Compared to the Pana 12-60 kit, which is very good at 12mm, is slightly less sharp, especially at the edges, but has better colors and contrast. sent on January 31, 2019 |
