sony_rx100iiiSony RX100 III

Pros: You know... It is very small and the optics are good. Then the viewfinder, however small, is a gift in certain contexts.

Cons: It often overexposes... Often but not always, which is worse. Quite inefficient white balance.

Opinion: It is small and allows you to take beautiful photos. The batteries are tiny, you can have 3 or 4 behind them without problems. The sensor is good up to maximum 1600 iso. Valid optics, the wide aperture as well as being a boon for the iso allows you to have a little blur. The problems of this machine are the inefficiency in exhibiting, it often burns the lights to have excessively clear shadows, only it does not always do it. In addition, the WB is wrong in case of artificial light.

panasonic_tz100Panasonic Lumix TZ100 / ZS100

Pros: Ergonomics, aesthetics, there is a viewfinder, albeit minimal. Satisfactory dynamic range.

Cons: Soft photos always, at the edges then sometimes it is tragic. Never observe 100%, but even a minimum crop is not advisable. The diopter adjustment of the viewfinder will be too easy.

Opinion: Socket used at 200€ as I did I can go. It's really compact and handles better than the Sony RX100 (but worse than the older Tz70). The sensor has a good dynamic range and the camera returns beautiful colors. It is used well with one hand. It uses the same batteries as the larger Gx80, if you have one you can optimize. The lens is branded Leica, but it doesn't mean much here. It's disappointing, always soft, so poor that with the sharpening that is applied by the camera observing a photo at 100% is a journey into artifacts. Clearly the comparison with the other 1" camera I own makes little sense, being a first series Rx100 with much lower zoom, but this is what I have in hand, so I say it: immensely superior to the Sony Zeiss lens, another category of its own. With this lens almost "Leica" almost seems to have an old bridge 1 / 2.3 were not for the dynamic range that, as mentioned, is good. If they had limited themselves a little in the zoom (for example 24-120), but had taken care of the optical quality I would have been much happier. The viewfinder is microscopic, but at least it's there. The diopter adjustment will always be because the wheel is too loose and you move it without realizing it. I must reiterate that I took it used, maybe mine has some defects (but seeing the photos here I do not think). I recommend it only at very reduced prices, like 150/200 € and if you do NOT crop. In this way we carry in our pocket a convenient machine, which pulls out beautiful jpg and we pay the right.

olympus_m14-150iiOlympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-150mm f/4-5.6 II

Pros: Flexibility, tropicalization, compactness and lightness. Fast and precise focus.

Cons: Softness at all focal lengths, but especially after 60/75mm.

Opinion: It is compact and light and is often located at just over € 300. Very convenient for travel, includes hood. It can be a great travel companion. Unfortunately the sharpness did not satisfy me, it is inferior to the Panasonic 12-60 (not Leica) and much (but much) lower than the Olympus 40.150rII, the cheap and plastic one. Clear that it is only one goal, so the race is unequal against two. But once you see what you do with cheap plastic is very difficult to accept the shots "smudge" of 14-150 II.

panasonic_lumix_lx5Panasonic Lumix LX5

Pros: Really crazy colors; selectable aspect ratio without actual resolution degradation; small and light.

Cons: Never exceed iso 800, but I think you could imagine...

Opinion: Taken two years ago gave me wonderful photos for the qualities of optics, really superb. It's in the jacket pocket, it's used comfortably, it's really a great object. It's old stuff now, but it still takes remarkable pictures today. I wonder if there is such a good lens for micro 4:3, I would seriously evaluate it.
