viltrox_af75_f1-2proViltrox AF 75mm f/1.2 Pro

Pros: Quality, quality, quality... so much quality... engraving already at f / 1.2, speed in AF-C on X-T4 not at all disappointing, indeed ...

Cons: Hood that for a Pro optics I expected in metal, diaphragm ring not very frictioned, weight if I really want to find another hair in the egg

Opinion: I state that I do this review net of a single day use but doing this for 13 years, using Fuji for 5 years now and having tried almost all high-end optics ... I can express myself without problems on this Viltrox 75mm f/1.2. Test done on Fuji X-T4 so the capabilities in AF-C are to be taken with pliers, I will update as soon as I try it on my X-H2S these days... but despite this she behaved very, very well... follows in subject perfectly in zone mode, in AF-S needless to say, a sniper even with particularly ball-breaker lights ... But the quality, the quality... shot with files in M quality at 10Mpx and already so you are amazed at how it can have such a perfect engraving even at f / 1.2. I think it's one of the best lenses ever tested in terms of quality both when I had Canon and Sony... and today with Fuji... Obviously this statement always related to the price (for me ridiculous but justified by the third-party brand) with which it is marketed. I do not want to dwell more, I will update the review as soon as I try it in other scenarios and especially with X-H2S ... but if you love focal tele... just one thing... Take it in a hurry. EDIT: tested in AF-C with Fuji X-H2S... It did not disappoint my expectations and I still confirm the incredible quality of this optics. In situations of very low light perfectly follows the recognition of the face, perhaps in backlight a bit of difficulty but I'm not sure it's the fault of the optics. Repeat... For lovers of focal lengths... Buy this lens.

sigma_56_f1-4dnSigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN C

Pros: Engraving already at full aperture, MAF fast and silent

Cons: Diaphragm ring absent, excessive flare with cutting lights

Opinion: FUJI X VERSION I hope that these impressions of mine can be useful as the first for Fuji X system. Given that in the past I owned 2 version of the now well-known 56mm 1.2 Fuji so my opinion will also be based on the comparison with the latter and will be based on the remarkably low price as far as I am concerned (429 €). The main pros and cons I have listed so I summarize the differences with the respective Fuji... the Sigma is more engraved in almost all situations at the same aperture 1.4, perhaps slightly at the extreme edges the Fuji maintained a more constant detail but they are inertia as far as I am concerned especially for those who make portraits ... MAF fast and silent, like Fuji in Af-S, slightly more responsive in AF-C although, at times, with some perplexity (sometimes for light conditions perhaps). Lack of the diaphragm ring that I love but I can't blame him, and excessive flare with cutting lights that, once taken, "softened", almost as if the machine corrected it slightly once taken. For the rest a lens that I fully recommend ... waiting for the 56mm 1.2 Fuji MKII of course...

viltrox_af85_f1-8fe_iiViltrox AF 85mm f/1.8 II

Pros: Weight, build quality, optical quality, fast maf, a blade even at TA

Cons: light TA vignetting but there is

Opinion: After having had for a while the Fuji 90mm f2 I decided to buy some time ago this Viltrox 85mm 1.8 ... moral of the story ... Fuji sold, and Viltrox in my optical park... and that says a lot. Incrediblely engraved also in TA, fast focus, pleasant detachment of the subjects ... I did several outdoor shoots this summer and in many jobs I DECIDED to work mainly with this Viltrox for at least 80% of the shots ... the quality that comes out of it is incredible, the sharpness even at TA from applause ... and remember that it is still a lens that costs less than € 400. It is the second Viltrox lens that I keep pleasantly in my kit after giving away the respective Fuji (23mm and 90mm).

viltrox_af23_f1-4Viltrox AF 23mm f/1.4

Pros: embarrassing quality/price ratio (positively) for what it offers

Cons: how to find cons to a lens that costs around € 350?

Opinion: I say it and I repeat it ... this Viltrox 23mm 1.4 is superior to the much emblazoned and praised XF23mm 1.4 (old). Point. I speak as a Viltrox owner, I used the Fuji 23mm 1.4 for about a week but it took me a few hours to hate it when compared to the Viltrox ... we leave out the build quality, we leave out the "magic" of Fuji... the Viltrox is much sharper already at 1.4 both in the center and at the edges than the Fuji... the only drawback that I can find them is a dominant bluer than the warmer tones of Fuji but in 10 seconds with pp I solve ... I was baffled by the Fuji I wanted to have in my optical park, but this Viltrox does not make me regret it even a little.

fujifilm_xf33_f1-4wrFujifilm XF 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR

Pros: Optically frightening, engraving, microdetail, perfect in the center and edges

Cons: At the moment not found

Opinion: I was a happy owner of the famous XF35mm 1.4, a lens that gave me great satisfaction... but since I am looking for optical perfection I decided to sell it to take this new XF33mm 1.4. The quality of the materials, the construction, the super fluid fire ring, the diaphragm ring that has now become a drug make you appreciate this optics before even mounting it. Once mounted you will hate all the XF lenses you own and it was like that for me... in kit I have one of everything, from 16-55, to 56 1.2, to 50-140 and also the 90 2 ... all high quality optics but the work that Fuji has done with this 33 is a completely different story ... never written reviews on the optics I own and now I will do it after buying and thoroughly testing this 33 ... the 16-55 that so many praise for me has become a "glass ass" if compared to the optical quality that offers the new 33 (it must be said that they are 2 projects 5 years apart ... very true). The thing that struck me most is not only the engraving and the microcontrast in the center of the frame, but the quality that can also give you at the edges ... there is perhaps a loss of quality of less than 10% compared to the center. The maf is very fast and silent, in tracking mode with almost non-existent lights I lose 1 photo out of 10 and, believe me, it is really a lot of stuff. For the rest I am very happy with the purchase that I recommend to everyone ... the question is... is it worth buying this lens? Absolutely... is it worth switching from the old 35 to the new 33? No, if you do not work in af-c and you are not interested in that slight optical quality I do not recommend the purchase ... but having to make up for an aps-c sensor that is still far from the ff... I, personally, look for any optics that give me even that 10% more quality.

sigma_120-400osSigma 120-400mm f/4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM

Pros: Value / Price - stabilizer (such as efficiency) - HSM - interesting excursion

Cons: Stabilizer (such as noise) - sharpness - heavier - ring is not removable without removing the lens from the body - lens of reasonable quality

Opinion: I got this Sigma 120-400mm OS just for fun but it has proven extremely attractive to the focal length, the speed of the focus and the presence of stabilization. A tele like that proposed less than 700 € new is great, of course, is lower than other competitors, slightly lower than the 150-500 brother as quality and much lower than the Canon 100-400. For sports and nature photography is ideal for an amateur photographer, the extreme excursion allows you to shoot a bit everything, stopped down to f / 8 is very pleasant (at TA is unobtrusive, is good at f/5.6) and dual image stabilization helps a lot , the latter (perhaps in my case) very noisy. I do not understand why do the tripod ring so you will not be able to remove without removing the lens, really uncomfortable because in some situations bother ring, lens hood is plasticky and decent quality (like most of the sigma lens hood) . My copy (thank God) does not suffer from any problema of f / b focus. For those who want to try for the first time to the wildlife and sports photography is the ideal lens.

sigma_70-200macro_v2Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM Macro II

Pros: Quality / price ratio (new or used) - fast autofocus - excellent construction - ring can be removed without disassembling the lens - large rings and fluid

Cons: Soft to 2.8 and the long focal lengths (150 to 200mm) - lens plasticky and hard to take off and put - multipliable but absolutely not recommended

Opinion: It 'was my second 70-200 (after having tried the Canon 70-200 f / 4 smooth) and I must say that for the same aperture that Sigma has behaved really well, on par with the Canon f / 4 like quality. Great autofocus, subjects in focus and Ultrasonic Motor satisfactory, my copy had no problems f / b focus, no matter on 7D I have the AF Micro Adjustment ... the hood in my case was very hard and we put a few seconds of too much to put it and pull it out of soft diaphragms 2.8/3.5 and long focal lengths, is already sharp enough at f/5.6, f/11 churning photos excelled. Tried it once with a multiplier Kenko 1.4 and the result was pitiful. All in all the best 70-200 2.8 as quality / price ratio, slightly lower quality as the Tamron 70-200 2.8 (old version), but much shorter and with ultrasonic motor essential for me.

tamron_70-300vcTamron SP 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC USD

Pros: Fast autofocus USD - Outstanding quality at all focal lengths - the stabilizer is a rock - sharpness - colors - petal-type hood high quality

Cons: If I find one stabilizer a little noisy ... but who cares ...

Opinion: The best first tele-lens for Canon L-series quality / price unbeatable sharpness suck, f / 4 is a tad soft but from f/5.6 to f/11 is a knife ... beautiful colors, good contrast, little PP thanks to these qualities ... USD fast autofocus, the stabilizer is a little noisy, but once activated, can also achieve 100dB noise because its effectiveness forgive all the noise that can make a real rock ... un'po pesantino (I like) but with a nice BG's all pretty balanced ... plastic hood but quality seems very solid. So for what it costs new, about 300 €, assolutissimamente recommend it to all, is a lens to have in the kit of every photographer, amateur or professional. I gave him 10 because it is the lens with the best quality / price ratio ever seen before.

canon_50_f1-8_v2Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II

Pros: Bright, cheap, clear, light

Cons: Plastic, looks like a Lego toy ... made in small apertures, accurate autofocus (its in the manual), ring focus small and uncomfortable

Opinion: The objective cheaper than Canon but very respectable, and an f/1.8 aperture intermediate exceptional clarity in bright ... as I said, perfect beautiful portraits, cheap (just over 100 €) and light, seems to have no objective but only feel the weight of the body ... but ... it's plastic, cursed by plastic 4 money, autofocus of 10 shots 3/4 will focus perfectly, the other not ... I use it in manual (since I am almost as accurate as the AF module) but the ring is small and awkward to use ... patience ... all in all a must have lens in the kit before jumping to 50mm f/1.4.

sigma_17-70macro_osSigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC OS HSM Macro

Pros: Quality / price ratio, HSM, bright considering the range 17-70mm, excellent construction and weight balanced, stabilizer that compensates well-tried 3 stop (4 declared by Sigma)

Cons: More details of back-focus but with small micro AF (on bodies where possible) resolves all

Opinion: For the 17-70mm focal length and aperture f2.8-4 I consider the best in its range of focal lengths, I preferred the Tamron 17-50 f2.8 for the pros listed building ... very good, quite heavy but balanced , quality is not the best but obviously if it is used at f5.6 or f8 gives the shots beautiful, amazing surrender to 17mm and almost no vignetting ... problems solved with back-focus Canon 7D and AF micro-adjustment and about 60mm then lose a little around the edges but nothing dramatic. Macros good even if it is not a true macro lens. For the rest recommended without a doubt.
