Tamron SP 500 f/8.0 Model 55B Pros: (Model BB) Price, color rendering and nostalgia effect, fluidity in focusing (at least my sample) Cons: (Modelo BB) Slightly heavy for those who are not used to it, very sensitive to the focus, deformed and blurred edges (I think typical of catadioptrics) Opinion: Premise: it's my first catadioptric and I only have a D60 almost 20 years old and all put together by an aluminum adapter ring but not very precise and it doesn't block very well, to tell the truth it's almost scary so much it doesn't tighten well. I had the lens together with 4 others with an attached bag when I bought an Olympus OM 101, I think there is also a multiplier, all for € 80. After 4 years I decided to take a ring and try it and I must say that it is DIFFICULT! Especially freehand at certain times of the day. Surely my inexperience with this lens strongly limits its potential and in all this I also smashed the tripod the same day I wanted to try it (-.-''). It is a tripod lens, definitely to be used for slow shutter speeds, the mirror and the micro blur go hand in hand. Freehand you have to use fairly fast shutter speeds, already below 1/300 you can notice if you don't have a steady hand because it has an impressive magnification. To that ceh I understood the 55B model (only one B) also has the tripod collar but is slightly worse than the BB. If you use an adapter ring more you need a special collar and a sturdy and stable tripod precisely because of the micro blur (on mirrorless logically it is much better). If I find a good adapter for Adaptall 2 it is better but it depends on what use you want to make of it, I turn especially to those who want to do astro, wildlife photos, landscape details or portraits that are at the beginning and spend very little. sent on 23 Maggio 2026 |
