My first butterfly sent on August 19, 2014 (23:27) by Neldan. 34 comments, 1420 views. [retina]

at 55mm, 1/250 f/8.0, ISO 100, hand held.

Unable to his recognition saw the live image. The group to which it belongs, ie licenide has a wide variety of individuals where small variations identify them, so difficult for yours truly satisfy your request.
Certainly the type of lens does not help to get a good close up.

Thanks Pigi, at least I have indicated the group to which it belongs ... I did not know that ...

But ... ah ...
considering the conditions and the lens (not macro) you came just a beautiful shot!
I like the composition, with the colors of the butterfly that contrast the background blurred successful.
Do it ... and I'm oby macro !!!!!!! :-D:-D:-D
Congratulations!

Thanks Mark, I'm glad that you enjoyed this shot. :-P

Since it is not done with a macro lens, I tried a different composition from the classic photo of the butterflies, and even if he has not had significant support, I am particularly pleased with this image .... and one that is almost never happy with the photo that brings home. :-D

There were months when I speak to take the macro lens and now the season is ending, but sooner or later I will. :-D

hello, I like this .... your original attempt, il18-55 made the maximum given the circumstances ... since you have a steady hand and you see and before you buy a macro lens, why not think of an additional lens (or close up) like the one I use (+3 hoja diameter for the 18-55), which costs about 30,00 Euros? ... you have fun sfochi to die for and a lot more background ... .:-P:-P

Damiana Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed my attempt to search for originality in this shot where I tried to break away from the classical patterns of butterflies pictures. :-P

Thanks also for the advice about the lenses close up, but last Thursday I finally ordered the Sigma 105 macro (on offer these days on Amazon for Canon version), and I should receive it tomorrow.
Since for now I only have the 18/55, account to use the Sigma lens for portraits as well and, if necessary, also as medium telephoto. :-P

Very impressive this shot, especially for the light that caresses the edges of the wings ...

Hello ... nice pictures ... I also like you the first pictures I've taken with the 18-55 first without and then with the help of some close-up lenses ... I finally got a specific goal and history has changed considerably ... but they are always so fond of my first pictures of insects ... and proud ... Cmq considers that with a macro lens, you can do so many more photos then remains a good investment ... Barbara-)

Thanks Barbara, I'm glad you liked it and I'm glad I made you remember your first "macro" with the 18/55 where you say you are fond of anyway. ;-)

However, finally, by about 15 days, I bought the Sigma 105 macro.
So far I've only done a few test shots freehand .... it is not easy to use, but it certainly is a different story compared to 18/55.

Have a nice evening. :-)
Claudio.

Hello Claudio, nice shot.
I read that you bought the Sigma 105 Macro. Good buy. I've got about a year and a poor photographer like me, having been through that too for the 18-55, it was a revelation. Among other things, too, until a few weeks ago, I rode on the 600d. Some shots are acceptable failed to do so, but they are still far from fully exploit all the potential of this great lens. What is certain is that I do enjoy it a lot.
I hope to see soon your macro.

A greeting
Alessandro

Thanks Alexander for the ride.

With the Sigma unfortunately I had problems with the stabilizer and I returned it ... for now I'm back without a macro lens: - (... I'll see what to do in the future.

Hello.
Claudio.
