La sala di Diana è uno dei biglietti da visita della reggia di Venaria Reale. Già nel Seicento palcoscenico di sontuosi banchetti, feste e balli, la sala era un luogo di rappresentanza dove veniva celebrata la grandezza dei Savoia non solo nell'arte venatoria, ma anche nell'essere una delle famiglie più potenti d'Europa. Perfino oggi la sala riesce a raccontare al visitatore moltissime storie, storie di una Corte giovane e con un forte senso di rinascita, nonché di una Corte fortemente influenzata dal potere femminile, in veste di lunghe reggenze di Cristina di Francia e di Maria Giovanna Battista. Le decorazioni della sala sviluppano un tema ideato da Emanuele Tesauro che vede nelle gesta di Diana, dea della caccia, una metafora morale del vivere civile. La narrazione si sviluppa su tre piani, dove il centro della storia si trova nella volta affrescata dal pittore fiammingo Jan Miel nel 1663: l'affresco raffigura Giove che affida a Diana il governo di tutte le cacce con il motto solenne "Delle cacce ti dono il sommo impero" situato al centro della pittura.
