kudu...

Namibia - 1

kudu sent on November 02, 2013 (10:18) by Cristina Giani. 14 comments, 2003 views.

, 1/500 f/8.0, ISO 100, hand held. Etosha National Park, Namibia. Specie: Tragelaphus strepsiceros

I Kudu vengono a ragione soprannominati "grey ghost of Africa": eleganti e silenziosi riescono a comparire e scomparire all'improvviso, grazie a un mimetismo che non ritenevo possibile per queste grosse antilopi (probabilmente sono le mie antilopi preferite)

Delicious little beast, well portrayed. Too bad for the lack of a ray of light in the eyes of this ..... you could not do anything about it ;-)

Thank you very much Stefano and Alessandro, I'm glad you like it ... But now I see nothing that two black balls for eyes, I had not noticed before :-(

The male is my favorite antelope. Since I started the African savannahs, and they are really so many years, believe it or not I've never had occasion to take decent pictures to Kudu. A beautiful portrait was penalized by a sky dish and milky. You deserved the blue skies and white. ;-)

Paul, unfortunately this is the sky that has always made my days as a background to Etosha: never a cloud but a steady blue-gray color :-(
Good evening :-)

PS: I do not believe you have not even a nice shot with a kudu .... ;-)

But nice meeting you did and what a beautiful picture it is born. :-P
It 'true that the sky is not very powerful but ... you can not always have all the luck, right?
Congratulations Cristina!

Here is this meant as camouflage ... The nickname "gray ghost of Africa" ??...
I remembered reading it in the description of your photos, hence I decided to postarne one that gave me that feeling.
The light is not helped you, but you can not do anything.
You'll have to return to Africa ;-)

Greetings
Tree

Thank you very much Alberto for paying attention to not only photos but also to my brief description :-)
I am especially happy to have caused this sharing of experiences and points of view: it's nice to deal with those who have experienced the same feelings.

ps: in Africa in fact there are already back: the Namibia trip I did in 2012, but this year I again stole the camera to my father and I had 10 days at the Kruger ;-)

a greeting
Cristina

You're right, they have giant ears but are very tender ... and terribly shy!
