Animals instinctively understand if they can trust a human and they have no doubt about you!
Congratulations for the shot and experience, Marco!

Hello Mark, sorry because this image of yours escaped me :-| . Thanks to you I know that there are two types of geckos at least in your part then I do not know if the two species include all of Italy both Central and Southern, in my part they do not exist, for me a pity. About twenty years ago I went on a trip to Assisi with the parish of my country and walking between one Church and another I saw well camouflaged on a wall a beautiful garden, I do not tell you what emotion I experienced, I was in seventh heaven so much so that the parish priest of my country I remain speechless in seeing me, he told me that I was like St. Francis :-D , I laughed with sympathy..... . For the image I would say that you posted a file that gives me emotions, Hats off to you I say it from the heart. HELLO, good night and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Dear John and David, always very much appreciated your comments to my photos.
The common geckos are those that are most easily encountered can also be seen on the walls of houses in the countryside, from me who live in Campania I have many, in summer they also make me the pleasure of eliminating mosquitoes a little :-)
Warty geckos are rarer and prefer more isolated and hidden places, so you need to know their habits.
With me they are active in the early hours after sunset, then in the middle of the night they move away from the burrows and it is more difficult to meet them.
I imagine your emotion, I am like that too when I see an animal. By now I have seen all the species present in my area but it is always as if it were the first time
Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones
