IC 434 è una nebulosa ad emissione visibile nella costellazione di Orione; grazie alla sua presenza è possibile osservare la celebre Nebulosa Testa di Cavallo, una nube oscura che le si sovrappone sulla nostra linea di vista. ? In basso a sinistra troviamo NGC 2023 , una piccola nebulosa che brilla per riflessione della luce prodotta dalla stella HD 37903, di classe spettrale B5, da cui prende il colore marcatamente azzurrognolo; si tratta della parte illuminata più meridionale di Orion B. ? In alto a sinistra entra la luce azzurra della stella Alnitak , una delle tre stelle della cintura di Orione .
