Il desiderio di fotografare una cometa era fortissimo in quanto mai, per un motivo o per un altro, c'ero riuscito in passato. La Neowise rappresentava una possibilità imperdibile, solo che ne sono venuto a conoscenza in modo tardivo e casuale, anche perché i media hanno dato poco risalto all'evento (a tal proposito colgo l'occasione per ringraziare Stefano_C e gli altri amici che sono intervenuti in una apposita discussione su questa cometa e grazie alla quale tutti abbiamo avuto i rudimenti per poter fare le nostre osservazioni). Il mio intendimento era quello di ambientare il più possibile questo meraviglioso e incredibile evento celeste quindi dopo aver fatto mente locale e considerando l'ubicazione in cielo della Neowise mi sono posizionato in una zona da cui si gode di un panorama bellissimo ed è così uscita questa foto che in realtà è un ritaglio di una panoramica molto ampia che grosso modo abbraccia un campo visivo di 180° e che include tutti gli elementi che volevo fossero presenti nella foto finale. Ma per ragioni di visualizzazione sul monitor di un computer/smartphone ed anche estetiche (una foto stretta e lunga è bella solo stampata e appesa su una parete) ho selezionato questa area che comunque racchiude in buona sostanza la mia visione iniziale. Seguendo un andamento in senso orario e partendo dall'angolo destro in alto si scorge: Venere, più giù la Calabria e lo Stretto di Messina; più giù ancora le luci di Giardini Naxos e Taormina. Il primissimo piano - illuminato dalla Luna - mostra le colate del 2001-2002 e sopra di esse in lontananza le luci di vari paesini incastonati tra i Nebrodi e i Peloritani. A sinistra lo spuntone aguzzo che si vede in lontananza è Rocca Novara (anche conosciuto come il Cervino di Sicilia), dietro le luci di Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto e Milazzo. Infine, alzando lo sguardo sopra le primissime luci dell'alba, la cometa Neowise che impreziosisce il cielo come un gioiello di rara bellezza.
