Realizzato dall'artista Mario Lupo nel 1986 per iniziativa del Circolo dei Sambenedettesi, il monumento al gabbiano Jonathan Livingston, protagonista dell'indimenticato libro di Richard Bach, sorge lungo la passeggiata del molo sud, quella che è stata ribattezzata ''The Jonathan's way''. L'opera, proiettata per 10 metri verso l'azzurro del mare e del cielo, racchiude in un cerchio azzurro la vita dei gabbiani e delle acque.E' il simbolo della operosità generosa e fattiva della gente sambenedettese protesa alla costante ricerca del meglio per la propria città, della volontà e della tenacia tipiche della gente di mare, gente abituata ad affrontare e superare silenziosamente ostacoli e difficoltà per raggiungere sempre nuove mete.
