Lunedì 6 aprile 2015, h 15.44. Arch. Luigi Canonica, 1830 ca. Si tratta dello scalone d'onore del Palazzo Anguissola Antona Traversi. Tale palazzo, di origine cinquecentesca, venne ristrutturato prima dall'architetto Carlo Felice Soave da Lugano tra il 1775 e il 1778. Nel 1829 il celebre avvocato Giovanni Battista Traversi, figura di spicco della società milanese del primo Ottocento, dopo aver acquistato il palazzo incaricò Luigi Canonica, il più noto architetto dell'epoca, di rifare la facciata su via Manzoni, il chiostro e appunto lo scalone d'onore. Nel Novecento il palazzo fu la dimora di Raffaele Mattioli, amministratore delegato della Banca Commerciale Italiana, che aveva sede nel contiguo palazzo progettato da Luca Beltrami all'inizio del secolo. Insieme a quest'ultimo, al Palazzo Brentani e al giardino di Alessandro Manzoni, attualmente costituisce il complesso delle Gallerie d'Italia. https://www.gallerieditalia.com/it/milano/museo/ . Qui probabilmente il Canonica ha preso come riferimento stilistico lo scalone d'onore del vicino Palazzo Reale, realizzato da Giuseppe Piermarini nel secolo precedente.
