Composizione un pochino atipica. Piante perenni e rizomatose: in questo caso, i fiori sono formati da alcuni sepali a forma di petalo in numero molto variabile, dal tenue e delicato colore bianco o anche dai toni più vivaci e accesi. I pistilli sono anch'essi molto numerosi. C'è da dire, anzitutto, che gli anemoni che vengono coltivati al giorno d'oggi possono essere classificati in base all'epoca della loro fioritura, andando a distinguere con precisione quelle specie che tendono a fiorire nei mesi primaverili da altre che invece fioriscono nel periodo estivo-autunnale. Quando si coltivano gli anemoni, bisogna sempre ricordare che tali piante necessitano di un terreno che sia piuttosto fertile, con un'altissima percentuale di potassio, oltre che di una base sciolta, profonda e fresca: la concimazione mediante l'utilizzo del letame deve essere effettuata parecchi mesi prima della messa a dimora delle piante, cercando di evitare, in ogni caso, l'eccesso.
