Echium vulgare L. - Erba viperina comune Descrizione: Pianta erbacea bienne alta 30 - 90 cm. Fusto eretto e ramoso, talvolta con 1-2 rami fioriferi, irto di peli setolosi inseriti in un tubercolo di colore rosso-bluastro. Foglie basali, formanti una rosetta, sono di forma oblanceolata, lineare-spatolata, ricoperte di tubercoli e peli molli; le superiori alterne, sessili e più arrotondate, decrescenti e ristrette alla base. Fiori riuniti in piccoli grappoli scorpioidi formanti una pannocchia racemosa, lassa, cilindro- piramidata. Calice formato da lacinie di 4 - 5 mm, lineari ed acuminate. Corolla campanulata azzurro - violacea, raramente rossastra, zigomorfa con 5 lobi ineguali 10-17 (20) mm, dei quali i due posteriori sono più lunghi, quello mediano e gli anteriori più piccoli e riflessi. Stami riflessi, inseriti nel tubo corollino, più lunghi della corolla e posti su sottili filamenti glabri di lunghezza variabile 2 -3,5 mm, stilo esile e biforcato più lungo degli stami.
