Common Reed Warbler or Verdognola? sent on January 19, 2019 (14:05) by Francesco Sartori. 23 comments, 1018 views. [retina]

at 500mm, 1/500 f/5.6, ISO 400, tripod. Specie: Acrocephalus palustris

Ciao a tutti juzini!!

Hello Francis, you can distinguish the two species from the length of the flight (which is not seen here) but especially from the singing (which here does not feel :-D)

Same things that also told me the person I spoke to :-D
I do not have a picture, unfortunately, where you see the flight :-(

The color of the paws in the greenish is light-pink (as in this case), darker in the common Reed warbler.
very good shot. :-P Hello

Hello Francis, Nice shot. And the question is also nice. In my humble opinion I lean for greenish though!!!
The manual features indicate this: Clear Paws resigned attitude (head feathers not raised)
less reddish coloration of the common and shorter beak.
Important feature, I add, for a bit of experience is in the place where you shot it. The Verdognola Unlike the municipality is also far from the water frequent the banks of ditches canals and rivers and also roads or massive.

Thank you very much to everyone.
for Alviano, thank you very much for your opinion. This photo I took along a path where I had noticed stopping myriads of birds. At the side there was precisely the reed in question and the rooms were similar to those described.

One thing I did not write, but I say now, is the period that was in early June.

Who knows if it is a verdognola: I read the eyebrow less defined than in the common, here seems even that miss, and, in this photo, I saw the long flight as in comparison with the common in the drawings of Killian Mullarney in the guide published by Collins, also the Paws seem clearer than in the common. The photo is well detailed in a nice green :-)
