I've met this poor guy in the city park. It somehow managed to free its beak during a rescue operation.

Me and my friend tried to catch him but we didn't manage so we called for help. Animal guard appeared to be quite useless but the people responsible for ringing the bird arrived and while they were trying to catch it the coot managed to free itself. It started eating immediately after so I think it will be fine.

Poor coot, the plastic items are devastating to the environment and the animals.
Greetings.

I've seen pictures of birds with plastic items stuck in a beak in a similar way but this is actually a collar used by an ornithologist instead of a ring. Sadly not as safe as a ring for an animal...

Thank you Gabi for your kind feedback. I am happy that coot in good condition.

Satish.

With this image you've perfectly reported how bird ringing/banding can be dangerous. I'm also very happy to know that this beautiful coot was able to free its beak.

Dear friend, I would like to know how that plastic ring ended up around the neck of the Coot, I hope that no one has ringed it so... it is very painful to try to get rid of it. :-/ :-(

I think it is a way of marking to be able to read the numbers easily because the legs are often covered with the view, but if this must be the risk....
