La rosa gialla è stata introdotta in Europa, nel XVIII secolo, grazie a degli ibridi nati da rose gialle che crescevano spontaneamente in Medio Oriente. Nel corso del tempo e forse anche per colpa del “pessimismo” diffuso in Occidente, alla rosa gialla sono stati attribuiti significati negativi, come l'invidia, la gelosia e persino l'odio. I significati positivi della rosa gialla sono tantissimi e si riferiscono alla saggezza, alla gioia, alla giovialità e all'amicizia. Tutti questi significati provengono proprio dall'Estremo Oriente, abituato per cultura e per natura a vedere sempre il lato positivo delle cose.
