La mosca scorpione comune o panorpa ( Panorpa communis ) è un insetto mecottero appartenente alla famiglia Panorpidae, diffuso in Eurasia. L'addome nei maschi somiglia alla coda degli scorpioni. Appartengono a quest'ordine i panorpidi: Le panorpe sono chiamate anche mosche scorpione per la presenza nei maschi di un rigonfiamento rosso lucente rivolto all'insù, sulla parte posteriore del corpo, simile a quello degli scorpioni, l'addome della femmina è invece lungo e affilato. Caratteristico di questi insetti è il capo molto grosso e prolungato anteriormente in un robusto rostro, al cui termine si trova una piccola bocca dotata di forti mandibole appuntite, le panorpe si nutrono prevalentemente di insetti morti o morenti, che vengono preventivamente triturati e sminuzzati. A differenza degli scorpioni, questi insetti sono completamente inoffensivi. Il loro habitat naturale sono le zone ombreggiate con vegetazione molto fitta. Mecoptera Scorpionflies/Hangingflies: Il nome Mecoptera, deriva dal greco “meco” che significa lungo e “ptera” che significa ali, si riferisce alla forma di entrambe le ali anteriori e posteriori. Purtroppo per la mancanza di una buona luce la definizione dei soggetti sembra un po' precaria, spero che questo momento colto che mette in evidenza la preda catturata vi possa piacere, perché ho visto la scena della Ballerina gialla che saltellava con movimenti veloci e non capivo il motivo… una volta realizzato, ho pensato che ne valesse la pena postarla.
