#FuocoSelettivo#Foglie Il perastro o pero selvatico (Pyrus pyraster (L.) Burgsd.) è una pianta appartenente alla famiglia delle Rosacee. Insieme a Pyrus caucasica (syn. P. communis subsp. caucasica) è il progenitore della comune pera coltivata e venduta in Europa (Pyrus communis subsp. communis). Tuttavia è spesso difficile distinguere il perastro dal pero comune. Può anche raggiungere i 150 anni. La pianta può restare da adulta come un semplice arbusto alto 3-4 m, ma in condizioni idonee riesce a raggiungere lo stadio di un albero che può anche raggiungere i 20 m. I rami diventano spinosi all'apice. Le foglie sono decidue, di forma ovata con margini seghettati. I fiori hanno petali bianchi, con stami uguali alla lunghezza degli stili. La fioritura avviene nella media primavera. Il frutto ha forma campaniforme con diametro massimo variabile da 1 a 4 cm, di color giallo-verdastro, a volte con sfumature rosse. Matura nella tarda estate. La polpa è abbastanza dura e astringente, ma risulta sufficientemente dolce se il perastro viene raccolto a uno stadio di piena maturazione, immediatamente dopo la sua caduta a terra.
