A beautiful butterfly that I've chased for around 15 minutes or so until it settled down. Not all butterflies are cooperative in the morning. :-)

27 stacked natural light exposures.

Nice photo of a nice butterfly gallery; however, I would be curious to know 1)how is it that all your butterflies always rest on a very guessed vertical perche, isolated from the context of other herbs and flowers of the fields; 2)how it is possible that the background obtained in these photos of yours is so neutral and soft, without other recognizable herbs, plants or flowers. Finally, but this is a matter more of entomologists than photography enthusiasts, in this photo I would lean for a specimen of Polyommatus Icarus, almost identical to the Thersites.

@ Merak.dubhe

I always use a plamp to isolate the subjects from the busy backgrounds, that means usually cutting the plant and put it on the plamp. See an image of it on my blog. If it's a protected plant, then I leave it as it is and try to move the subject on another plant. This is trial and error, it sometimes gives a lot of headache but I like it this way even if sometimes it's very challenging.

Regarding the name, I'm not at all an entomologist, I was told that name by a local entomologist. Sorriso

Thank you Cristian Arghius for your clarification. Regarding the butterfly species.... the local entomologist is probably right; I, mistakenly, had not considered that..... there are those who photograph butterflies even many thousands of km from my house, in Mantua .....
I'm going to set you up the link..... of Italian butterflies....... the Thersites and the Icarus.......
