Il caracal è una degli obiettivi fotografici più ambiti: è abbstanza piccolo e sfuggente ed anche le poche volte che si riesce a vederlo tende a scappare come una freccia ed è difficilissimo riuscire a fotografarlo... Per tanti che sono venuti in safari con me, dando per scontato leoni, ghepardi e leopardi, è una sorta di ossessione in cima alla lista dei desideri! Il safari di marzo, oltre che le piogge.., rimarrà negli annali per i 3 caracal che abbiamo visto e fotografato.. Il penultimo giorno abbiamo trovato un bel maschio che aveva da poco catturato una gazzella, era piuttosto timido e, nonostante ci fossimo tutti fermati a rispettosa distanza ( un po' troppa dal punto di vista fotografico ma giusta per non arrecare disturbo.. ), si palesava ad intervalli regolari per dare un morso alla sua preda per poi eclissarsi di nuovo tra i cespugli. Nel frattempo erano arrivati un gruppo di avvoltoi e 3 sciacalli che molto rimidamente provavano ad avvicinarsi per poi allontanarsi appena il carcal tirava fuori la testa... Abbiamo atteso per ore, già mi immaginavo la foto !! la foto del caracal che salta per per prendere un avvoltoio o corre all' inseguimnento di uno scaiaccallo ! Tutto bello fino a quando non è arrivata una macchina della Ngorongoro Conservatio AREA con ranger ed un paio di altre persone di cui uno dotato di telecamera; un genio che, non soddisfatto di quanto riusciva a vedere, ha pensato bene di alzarsi in piedi sul tetto dell' autoi facendo scappare gli avvoltoi ed gli sciacalli !!!!
