Sabato 28 ottobre 2017, 15:34. Edificato in pietra d'Istria da Mauro Codussi negli ultimi due decenni del '400. Il tamburo poligonale sulla sommità ha sostituito la cupola realizzata dal Codussi e distrutta da un fulmine nel 1670. Come molti campanili veneziani presenta una forte pendenza. Per approfondimento: John McAndrew, "L'architettura veneziana del primo Rinascimento", Venezia, Marsilio, 1983 (Op. Orig. "Venetian Architecture of the Early Renaissance", The MIT Press, Cambridge-Mass. and London, 1980), pp. 252-256. Scrive in "cit." p. 252: "Occhi esperti lo hanno visto come la più bella torre campanaria del primo Rinascimento di tutta Italia (...), opinione difficile da contraddire."
