Il Santuario di San Romedio nelle vicinanze di Sanzeno in Val di Non è sicuramente il più interessante esempio di arte cristiana medioevale presente in Trentino. Si tratta di un noto luogo di pellegrinaggio, costruito su una rupe calcarea alta oltre 70 metri. Immerso in una splendida cornice naturale, il complesso architettonico è formato da più chiese e cappelle costruite sulla roccia. L'intera struttura è collegata da una ripida scalinata con ben 131 scalini. La cappella più antica dell'edificio risale all'XI secolo, nel corso dei secoli sono state erette altre tre piccole chiese, due cappelle e sette edicole della Passione. Questo suggestivo luogo ricco di spiritualità sorge grazie alla figura dell'eremita Romedio di Thaur. Alla morte dell'eremita, i suoi fedeli scavarono nella roccia la sua tomba dando così vita ad un culto che continua ancora oggi. Ci sono varie leggende su San Romedio e la più nota è sicuramente quella che riguarda un orso. Si narra che l'eremita Romedio ormai anziano era diretto a cavallo a Trento, per incontrare il Vescovo, ad un certo punto il cavallo viene sbranato da un orso, ma Romedio sarebbe riuscito a rendere mansueto l'orso cavalcandolo fino a Trento. Esistono innumerevoli modi per visitare il santuario, tutti immersi nella natura, come il sentiero nella roccia di San Romedio. La passeggiata nella roccia che porta da Sanzeno al Santuario è un'imperdibile esperienza, inoltre alla base del santuario è presente un'area faunistica dove vive un simpatico esemplare di orso bruno.
