Pianta appartenente alla famiglia delle rosaceae , come;prugne , albicocche , ciliegie....ecc. in Italia viene impiegata come pianta ornamentale e , come porta-innesti , in Francia come albero da frutta. La fronda in foto appartiene alla varietà Pissardiis , dalle foglie rosso-violacee , i fiori bianchi con sfumature rosa , i frutti rotondi rosso molto scuro , di 2-2,5 cm , se non completamente maturi sono molto aspri. A detta di Wikipedia e confermato da una mia vicina , con i suoi frutti si può fare una confettura molto buona , secondo me per chi non gradisce quella molto dolce. Tempo fa ho pubblicato una foto di questa pianta , col sole in trasparenza fra le fronde , intitolato ; L'albero della luce.
