Australia & Nuova Zelanda

at 18mm, 1/13 f/3.5, ISO 1600, hand held. Waitomo Glowworm Caves, New Zealand.

Hi TheBlackbird,
Just a few days ago I discovered the existence of these caves and wrote a post in the "Travel, Nature, and Excursions" section to find out if there were photos available to admire the wonder of the lights emitted by the larvae living in the caves! Writing in the search bar now the place, "Waitomo", I found your photo ...
What a pleasant surprise! I have read in the caption your description in which you tell the story of this shot ...
:-P
Compliments!!!
Beautiful all your gallery!
;-) :-P

Regards, Flo

Hello Flo! Warm about your passage and kind appreciation, I'm glad you liked it ... For me it was the trip of a lifetime I would say, maybe for others are normal travels but I had never gone beyond the center of Europe so ...: -D

The bioluminescent vermit unfortunately I think it requires a special permission to make him photos worthy of note: the normal visitor, otherwise, is crammed into a hand-raft in the submerged part of the cave, and in that condition take home a decent click is almost Impossible ... I did a couple of clicks but they are horrendous and they are good only for personal recollection, they are pretty black frames with casual and light blue blueprints. Nothing to do with the starry sight that the eye can immediately perceive under the vault of flooded galleries!

Look, this is what I managed to get ...

In the first, the guide illuminates with the torch the "bava" filaments (even if it goes out from behind, it is not really rummage :-D) of worms, the other are bluish dots (crawl more than the shooting times! ) That I said ...
Naked eyes are another thing, and a tripod on the boat could not be planted, amongst other things, a bit too much, you will understand... :-D

Hey ...
Thanks for other precious details, I am very curious to know the "behind the scenes" of the pictures I observe! They add a different value to everything, in my opinion! 8-)

From the videos I've seen on various channels, it seems to be catapulted into a spell, as in a magic tale!
I'm happy for you and for the dream you've been able to accomplish!
;-) :-P

A magic to keep forever in a special place, where no sensor can ever really get ...
:-D :-P :-P

Good light !!!
;-)

How not to tell!
And there are people saying that captions do not serve. Pfft!
Often a photo is not just the moment of that frame, it's a story.
For great photographs of history, story (forgive the wordplay) is inside the photo, for those who know how to read it ...
While for common mortals we use the caption 99 times to 100 :-P :-D

Good light also to you! ;-)

Hi TheBlackbird,
By accident I watched a photo gallery on the site of National Geographic and I found this very beautiful image:

During your trip did you also visit Helensburgh?

Wow, wonder ... unfortunately no, we were only a week in NZ, and in the south we just made a stop at Queenstown. A trip on the road in the south would have been really beautiful though!
