NGC 4438 e NGC4435 dette "gli occhi", sono due una galassia nell'ammasso della Vergine, situate a circa 50 Milioni di anni luce da qua NGC4438 è una galassia particolare, di cui non si conosce il meccanismo di energia che riscalda il nucleao. Qualcuno sospetta la presenza di un buco nero che rende attivo il nucleo galattico. La galassia presenta una forma distorta, forse a causa della interazione gravitazionale con galassie vicine NGC4435 è una galassia lenticolare, ossia una via di mezzo fra una spirale e una ellittica; si pensa che si trovi a "soli" 100.000 anni luce di distanza dalla compagna. L'immagine è ripresa con circa 3 ore di esposizione
