La fortezza di Rocca Calascio risale all'anno 1000. Era utilizzata come avamposto di segnalazione di eventuali movimenti di eserciti, grazie alla posizione strategica. Si trova, infatti, a 1500 metri di altitudine e risulta difficilmente accessibile. Proprio per tale inaccessibilità, la Rocca non è mai stata assediata.
