Hesperia comma (Linné, 1758) - Famiglia Hesperiidae - Sottofamiglia Hesperiinae - Apertura alare: Da 2,7 a 3,3 cm. - Distribuzione in Italia: Presente in tutte le regioni ad eccezione della Sardegna. - Habitat: Praterie fiorite, ambienti caldi sia umidi che secchi, dalla pianura fino a oltre 2500 m. - Periodo di volo: Univoltina da fine giugno ad agosto. - Pianta alimentare dei bruchi: Varie graminacee, in particolare quelle dei generi Festuca e Nardus, e papilionacee. - Dimorfismo sessuale: Femmina più grande e senza i vistosi stigmi androconiali neri sul diritto delle ali anteriori del maschio, inoltre, sul rovescio, con macchie chiare più marcate. - Variazioni: In entrambi i sessi le macchie chiare sul rovescio delle ali posteriori possono essere sia grandi che più piccole. Specie simili: Ochlodes sylvanus con sul rovescio delle ali macchie chiare meno distinguibili dalla colorazione di fondo e con l'asta delle antenne a strisce fulve e nere, mentre in Hesperia comma è interamente nera sul diritto e bianca sul rovescio.
