Durante un raduno di macrofotografia al Lago di Rascino nel Lazio, ho avuto il piacere di fotografare questo bellissimo soggetto, come potete vedere la rugiada era davvero tantissima, lei se ne stava tutta abbracciata al suo posatoio e io l'ho ripresa così, come l'ho trovata :) Nome scientifico: Libellula quadrimaculata (Linnaeus , 1758) Nome comune: Libellula quadrimacchiata Dimensioni: 40-50 mm, apertura alare 70-85 mm Descrizione della specie: il suo nome deriva dalle quattro macchie nere che ne decorano le ali. E' una libellula detta "assalitrice" poiché non caccia in volo (come la maggior parte degli odonati) ma cattura le prede appostandosi tra i sassi e la vegetazione.? Il maschio è considerato altamente aggressivo e difende il suo territorio da incursioni di altri maschi della specie, mentre pattuglia dagli intrusi intorno ai margini di pozze e laghetti, si posa spesso su posatoi importanti dove fa ritorno spesso. Entrambi i sessi sono volantini prolifici e l'accoppiamento avviene in aria, piuttosto che su posatoi o tra la vegetazione.? La femmina depone le uova sulla vegetazione galleggiante, dalle uova, che vengono lasciate cadere in acqua, nascono, dopo 2-3 settimane le larve che hanno uno sviluppo abbastanza lento infatti, soltanto dopo aver svernato due volte, si trasformano in individui adulti. Le larve hanno un ciclo di sviluppo due anni. Gli adulti si nutrono prevalentemente di zanzare e moscerini , mentre le larve si nutrono principalmente di altre larve di insetti acquatici e girini. Distribuzione e habitat: E' presente in gran parte delle regioni Italiane. Mancano segnalazioni per il Molise, la Puglia, la Calabria e la Sardegna Si rinviene dalla pianura sino ad oltre 2000 metri di altitudine, vive principalmente in stagni, paludi, torbiere, pozze e fiumi con acque lente Periodo di attività: gli adulti sfarfallano a partire dalla fine di aprile ed il periodo di volo si prolunga fino alla metà di settembre, ma sono più abbondanti all'inizio dell'estate. #libellule #gocce #rugiada Fonte web.
