In Grecia, dopo i terremoti del 1978 (Salonicco), 1981 (a ovest di Atene) e 1999 (ad Atene) le regole di costruzione (nel campo della progettazione strutturale) hanno cambiato in gran parte a più stretto, così, anche se i vecchi edifici si sono comportati bene abbastanza, nuova sarà ancora più sicura.
