La Miniera Marchi sfrutta lo stesso giacimento del sito contiguo di Gavorrano. I due sono divisi dalla collina di Monte Calvo, chiamato così dai locali perchè la nuda roccia carsica che lo compone impedisce alla vegetazione di crescervi. Si tratta di un piccolo centro di estrazione della pirite perchè lo spazio per l'edificazione delle strutture era esiguo; così i proprietari furono costretti a concentrarle su gradoni. Dall'alto verso il basso si trovano ancora gli argani con l'ingresso dei pozzi fino alle vasche di decantazione e lavorazione del minerale situate in primo piano. Negli ultimi anni della sua attività, il quantitativo estratto divenne via via insufficiente a sopperire alle spese economiche della gestione di un sito così piccolo finchè non fu venduta alla società proprietaria della Miniera di Gavorrano: un lungo tunnel scavato nel calcare di Monte Calvo le unì. Grazie al Parco delle Colline Metallifere grossetane, il sito oggi è stato messo in sicurezza e viene utilizzato, durante i mesi estivi, per manifestazioni e spettacoli.
