Give us this day our daily bread .. sent on December 21, 2013 (18:27) by Sergio Pan. 78 comments, 4203 views.

Hello Catherine, I am really very happy to hear from your words that hit you this much, and this regardless of its caption. It was my main goal, and I am very happy to hear from you that I have achieved.
We are also sincerely grateful for your compliments: you are without a doubt one of the most talented photographers and technically prepared for this site, so you can well understand that I take into account your appreciation for my works.

A cordial greeting to you Catherine, my best wishes for a happy 2014.

Hello Matthew (I was hoping that you give me your real name indicassi Makar :-)), I assure you that I do not at all taken for your comment, because there was nothing offensive in it but only some of your legitimate comments .
But I am glad to hear from your words that I had "guessed" the reason of your doubts about its technical content .. But it was pretty easy because - as I said - I too have had many doubts before arriving at the final result, then at the end I opted for a definition rather push (maybe too much ..) just to give some "drama" in this face.
But the stylistic choices are downright objectionable Matthew, and for me it was a great pleasure to have this exchange of views with you on how to interpret a photo: publish aI question the need to own this photo, at least as far as I'm concerned.

Still a cordial greeting to you, and we wish you a Merry New Year.

Thank you for signing Louis stopped to observe this photo, for having appreciated, and especially for telling evidenced by this comment. It 'a gesture that I really appreciate it very much, and I find that much more effective and gentle than a simple "I like it".

A cordial greeting to you, and a happy new year.

Thank you Max, my friend grew up in BN:-P:-P
I must say that, in the light of your passion and your great talent especially for the BN, it is a great honor for me to receive your compliments to my photos, absolutely and strictly "colored" ..
As you know, having read my presentation, I think the BN an extreme form of image processing (though curiously not talked about in the blog where you never complains about the spread of the PP in the photos), so I'm very happy when I can "amaze" artists of the BN like you Max

Again a big thank you for your visit and for the compliments, and a cordial greeting to you.

I do not know if the application has already been done .. I have not read all the posts!
I see that all the portraits were done with the 70-200 often multiplied ..
some even with the 300 ..
why this choice instead of a classic portrait lens type such as a 85?
I do not seem at all portraits stolen so do not understand the distance from the subject which requires 70-200

Hello Mauro, and first of all thank you for visiting my galleries (as I sense from your comment) and have observed with much interest the photos contained in them. I hope that some were also to your liking:-P ;-)
But let's get to your good question: the use of medium telephoto.

As you may have noticed, my pictures are all ordinary people, even if spread throughout the world. I love people watching, and I love to capture its essence, which for me is enclosed in the eyes, and even more so in the eyes. But I also have a deep respect for people, and although usually I can relate with them with great ease, always force me to respect the privacy and dignity above all.
Now, place a target at 30 inches from the face of a person is not simpatico for anyone, much less for people who do not know you, even if it is intrigued by you. In addition, only a professional model can "pretend" to remain indifferent with a target so close, all the other spoiled created is great, to the detriment of the naturalness of expression.
In my experience, therefore, I consider that the average tele (which in my case, however, has a minimum focusing distance of 1 meter and 20) allows to get some good close-ups, no bother or annoy people, getting almost always expressions much more genuine and intense.

Incidentally, and always about dignity, I impose two rules. The first is to limit or better yet, avoid the pictures "stolen" and I believe that every person has the right to dare their consent to be resumed, and photograph it while looking at you in the eye for me is worth more than any release. The second is to not photograph a subject standing over, looming over it. For me the impression that one gets is crushing oppression, subjugation. It 'something that "skin" bothers me a lot. But this is a very personal opinion and I have to say too little shared, given the recent spread of this "fashion".

I hope I have satisfied your curiosity Mauro, and I thank you again for the opportunity you gave me to talk a bit 'of photography, a subject that still fascinates me so much.

A cordial greeting to you.

I guessed (and you can clearly see from the photos) that the people portrayed are fully informed and willing
that's why it seemed strange not to photograph them a little closer with a shorter lens and less bulky ..
certainly also a 5d with 70-200 2.8 is not passing unnoticed in the eyes of the subject!
said this to me what matters is the photography and the feelings / emotions that can transmit
and the equipment must be functional only for the purpose .. nothing more
mine was just a curiosity on a detail that I noticed casually observing your galleries ..
the photographs are simply amazing! I can not find (and do not serve) other words!
Regards .. mauro

Hello Mauro, as I said yours was a curiosity absolutely understandable and which also made me much pleasure, as He has provided an opportunity to explain a bit 'my' idea 'of photography ..
In this your second surgery, then, I saw that I also wanted to reward and honor you with compliments of a beauty almost embarrassing :-| Te Mauro are very grateful, and I thank you sincerely for what you wrote.
