You can not understand ..! sent on June 01, 2013 (19:09) by Sergio Pan. 38 comments, 2786 views.

Yet another proof, if any were needed, of your talent in this kind of photos.

Interesting reflection on the subject of scarification do that and I think that some African peoples "live" these practices in a manner very different from what can be our thought, probably because of their importance in their culture such practices / traditions. I do not think (but I could be wrong) that the expression of this child is sad because of scarification that does not seem to be very recent, maybe is due to the daily living conditions (hunger, childhood "private" ...) which I imagine are very harder to endure just because prolonged in time.
What is surely unacceptable is the fact that these practices are imposed without those who suffered can reject them, becoming intolerable when it comes to children.
Best wishes
Roberto

Hello Roberto, your comments are always a depth and any interest which give the picture even more prestige and importance: a beautiful setting in short, for which I thank you very warmly.
They are also proof that your beautiful photos are not the result of chance, but they arise from your feelings, from your culture and your great talent.

I fully agree with your observations on this "ritual" so bloody difficult to understand for us in the West ..
And you're right on the evaluation of this look: no, this baby is certainly sad for the wounds it has on the face, which indeed I am sure will have endured with great dignity .. As always, before you take a picture I have tried to establish contact with this kid, and in this case I also touched her cicatrici. So I believe that his "disappointment" comes precisely from being realized that I did not give this to her "sacrifice" the proper recognition, the right "honor," as he proudly would have expected ..

A dear greetings to you Roberto, and again my sincere thanks.
Sergio

Dear Sergio,
in addition to the final result, I really appreciate your approach to this type of photography that involves the fact of trying to get in touch with the subject and in your case, I am convinced, not only aimed at getting a shot, but also to establish minimum interaction with people who then photographers: it seems to me the right attitude denoting respect for those in front of the lens (then, of course, there is also that you can "steal" a few shots ...)
I agree with your analysis on the expression of the child.

Beautiful this exchange of ideas on these issues: another about to be attributed to your photos. ;-) Thanks!
Until next time ...
Roberto

In addition to shooting the whole story is very interesting documentary between caption and comments!
Sergio Why do not you try to publish at least one article on this site about it, the preparation, the sensitivity and mastery of the language you've definitely ;-), then rely on my "like" whatever, and you know that at least one reader c ' is.
Greetings Andrea:-D

Thank you Roberto! I also love very much to exchange opinions and ideas with those who stop to look at my photos, it is very rewarding and always challenging. And I appreciate very much the friends who, like you, are not limited only to assess the technical aspects - some very important since it still a photo site - but also push themselves to consider the purely emotional.

Still a cordial greeting to you.

Hello Andrea, it is always a great pleasure for me to read your comments: you always manage to express, in simple words, compliments of a staggering beauty, a little intimidating 'to fill even large soddisfaziome. Thank you, Andrea!
And thank you for the confidence and esteem that stow in my abilities .. you are very kind and very much appreciate your support, "unconditional" .. but unfortunately I have very little time to devote to the photos, both my own and others, so much so that often I am ashamed to never be able to reciprocate the visits of friends like you .. but it is not "snobbery" is that really can not do it. So that's okay, but thanks for giving me felt up to it.

Best wishes Andra.

"L 'Man is the measure of all things ..." this thought of Protagoras, that you know well, is perfectly applicable to your work Sergio: l 'Man, in all its expressions, is the subject that you like to photograph and you really get to know the gift to capture the essence and soul. .. Well done, as always.
A dear and admired greeting.
Roberto.

Hello Roberto .. I am very happy for this your quote, definitely one of my favorites and, in my humble opinion, one of the most true.
And I'm also really happy that you remember so well was also my signature (although now I seem to have been eliminita from proflio, who knows why wow!), To yet another demonstration of your great attention to detail and your deep sensitivity, virtues which also transpire widely from your beautiful photos.

A heartfelt thanks to you Robert, for the beautiful words that you used in commenting this photo in particular and for the esteem and appreciation for my works in general: you really are a very kind person as well as an admirable photographer.

A dear greetings to you.

I took a ride on your shots and I was fascinated and impressed at the same time.
In particular, when I saw this picture I got chills, the expression of this guy seems to me of sadness and resignation. The scars on the face of one so young is really impressive. I realize that we're really lucky. : Fconfuso:
If your intent was to bear witness to what you were seeing You really did an excellent job.
COPLIMENTI!!!! ;-)

I am sincerely grateful, Nicholas, for this comment.
Your words are especially welcome because I too, like you, I believe that photography is not just an exercise in technical skill but also - and especially for me - a chance to communicate a message and an emotion. A heartfelt thanks to you, therefore, confirmed to me I have succeeded in this case.

A cordial greeting.
Sergio
