Thymelicus sylvestris (Poda, 1761) - Famiglia Hesperiidae - Sottofamiglia Hesperiinae - Apertura alare: Da 2,6 a 3,1 cm. - Distribuzione in Italia: Presente in tutte le regioni ad eccezione della Sardegna. - Habitat: Prati e ampie radure e incolti sia secchi che umidi, dalla pianura fino a oltre 2000 m. - Periodo di volo: Univoltina da giugno ai primi di agosto. - Pianta alimentare dei bruchi: Varie graminacee tra cui quelle dei generi Holcus, Brachypodium, Festuca, Aira, Poa e Phleum. - Dimorfismo sessuale: Femmina più grande e senza gli stigmi androconiali sul diritto delle ali anteriori, che nel maschio si presentano come linee nere lungo il bordo posteriore della cellula discoidale. - Variazioni: Alcuni esemplari di entrambi i sessi possono presentare una velatura scura in particolare lungo il bordo delle ali. - Specie simili: Thymelicus lineola da cui si riconosce per la diversa colorazione della parte apicale inferiore delle antenne (rovescio), fulva in T. sylvestris e nera in T. lineola. I maschi si distinguono anche per la stria nera androconiale più lunga rispetto a T. lineola.
