Se qualche imprudente malauguratamente le avesse osservate in quel frangente, adirate per la presenza di estranei avrebbero scatenato una spaventosa tempesta. Forse proprio da questa leggenda è nato il detto che quando una donna ritenuta cattiva fa il bucato, il tempo cambierà in peggio Il lago poggia su uno strato di argilla impermeabile, che impedisce all'acqua di disperdersi. Sulle sue sponde si possono ammirare una particolare vegetazione e fauna anfibia.
