La Certosa di S.Girolamo, detta Certosa di Parma, costruita tra 1285 e il 1304 fu per circa 500 anni sede di un monastero di Certosini. Parzialmente distrutta verso la metà del 500, fu ricostruita tra 1673 e il 1722. Non vi è certezza ma questa è l'unica Certosa di Parma dove vissero i Certosini per 483 anni e non l'Abbazia di Valserena, chiamata impropriamente Certosa di Paradigna e talvolta riferita all'opera di Stendhal.
