Negli ultimi decenni del secolo scorso la neve scendeva e permaneva copiosa sul crinale del Pratomagno e molti giovani valdarnesi, me compreso, impararono a sciare nella minuscola pista disegnata sul versante fiorentino cimentandosi con un primordiale quanto riottoso skilift! Si vagheggiava all'epoca di creare un comprensorio di un certo livello sul lato aretino: pastoie burocratiche e la sempre più cronica carenza di neve indussero investitori ed amministratori a desistere, a tutto vantaggio delle meravigliose foreste di faggi che degradano verso il Casentino.
