“Spazzina” e ladra di carcasse altrui o feroce cacciatrice in proprio, la iena è nell'immaginario collettivo un animale “cattivo”. Ma buono e cattivo sono categorie umane - spesso anche discutibili- che non hanno senso in natura, dove i comportamenti sono determinati dall'istinto e dalla lotta per la sopravvivenza. A me la iena piace poterla rappresentare anche così, nella dolcezza di una mamma per il suo cucciolo. Erano parte di un clan numeroso, con varie femmine e cucciolate di diverse età. Poterli osservare nella loro socialità e in una dimensione meno comune è stata una grande emozione.
